wow, you absolutely crushed this video. you hit on so many things that big name reviewers fail to even mention, like displayport over usb-c and the stylus technologies. truly a cut above the rest, keep up the good work.
Great video! Started with Lenovo 3 yrs ago with a Flex 3 15.6" for IT consultant work. A year after, I traded it for a 2nd gen Flex 5 15.6 and then for the latest gen Flex 5 also in 15.6 in Nov last year. Agree with you on your comparison. At less than $800, is a great bang for your buck. My son uses a Flex 3 for school and he loves it too. Sub'ed!
If it's only +-$100 differences and offer much better specifications and features, I'll take the more expensive one. But if the price is so much differences with less features differences, I'll go with the cheaper one (for example I'll choose Xiaomi Mi11 than a Samsung galaxy S21 if i talking about phone).
I own a HP Envy x360 laptop purchased 6 months back. I seriously disapprove on the build quality of this laptop, a month and half ago one of the hinges broke out from the display side exposing the screws all by itself. I had used this laptop very carefully but the incident happened during a very normal tilt of the screen. The worst part was not over yet. It was very difficult to get a proper support from HP. For weeks they refused to cover this under warranty as it pertained to accidental damage according to their manual. I had very tough time with the support agents at all levels, some point they accepted and promised to help but never reverted back, weeks passed and I had to escalate at the highest level to get some attention and finally convinced to get it covered under warranty. Again it took over a month to get the part replaced as there was shortage of the same. I could have easily lost over 20k had it was not covered under warranty. I still work with fear on the laptop thinking it may fall apart again, so absolutely I do not have any confidence on the build quality. The hinges are some how loosely glued to the screen area, due to the pressure it can pop out any time. So I strongly discourage to buy this laptop.
I'm leery of the HP as well- bought a new HP 17.3" HD+ Touchscreen Laptop in March 2020- it still runs well (I'm using it now), but the hinges started falling apart several months in. HP wouldn't even answer my emails. It's held together right now with duct tape. Once bitten....
I am absolutely amazed that you went into touch input detail of both laptops. This is what I have been seeking all the time. No ass nugget gave a single info about these in their so called review. Thank you so much
Lenovo makes a Flex 5 15" model which would be a better comparison to the HP Envy x360. The HP won the keyboard category and the heat dissipation category due to the larger keyboard area and the larger more spacious chassis of a 15" form factor vs 14". That would result in a tie in those categories or even Lenovo coming out ahead. Once you control for the difference in form factor it becomes more of an "apples to apples" comparison.

I got the flex 5 like a week ago, very nice built, light, great battery live, nice sound I use it mostly for note taking (stylus and keyboard) and reading PDFs , youtube, python programing, light gaming, it takes like 1s to turn off and less than 10s to turn on if you are student I think the flex5 is good, the fan rarely goes on if you are doing this "basic tasks" if you like to get comfy in bed and read stuff and take notes it is just in border line of becoming uncomfortable so I can't imagine using the hp for that, it is to heavy and big a 13" will be better, what stopped me from getting the hp was the fact that the hp I tested was very hot and it had just chrome opened so that kinda freaked me out and I decided to buy the flex, that and the reviews on this channel

OK, I am just testing my new Lenovo Flex 5. I bought it for a change as to the previous HP Envy 360°, since I was not able to find on the local market an ENVY model with more advanced i7 processor and 16GB RAM that Lenovo has together with bigger SSD. So, I have to tell you that my previous ENVY, even with a bit older configuration was far better. Lenovo is plastic, althogh they say that the upper part is aluminum. The look is decent, but significantly cheaper. The sound is cruspy and significantly less loud. Web cam givess worse quality transmission ( a bit yelowish and dul) even though the pixels arr the same. I've also noticed some delay in response when on a web conference and some picture tremblings, probably due to integeated grafic card. The only PRO for this machine is that it is much ligter. I was really troubled from walking around with some 2 kg and something, which gets particularly cumbersome on longer roads, especially for a women. So, I guess that I will stick to this one for some time, untill something better shows up on the marker. A decent option at this point was HP Spectra with all the deficiences eliminated, but at 700 EURO more expensive price and more importantly an additiinal kilogram to cary around.

Really helpful and thorough review, thank you! I think you’ve convinced me to get the HP, even though I was tempted by Lenovo. What a shame manufacturers install such poor quality cameras on many laptops. If these were mobile phones we’d not accept such meagre offerings!
I am so glad your video popped up on the homepage. Because my favourite one is the x360 (that i first found on New Egg, then PB Tech), and I love the look, and the specs of it! But after the video My views might be pointing towards the Lenovo! *shrugs*
First of all, GREAT review, thanks so much! I decided to go with the Envy x360 13 with the Ryzen 5 - as a Surface Pro 4 owner I liked the smaller 13" footprint (more convenient for traveling). Also, where I live (Asia) the SKU choices are a bit different...............my x360 is a wood edition with 16g of RAM, 512g ssd, WiFi 6 and bluetooth 5. It was also a package deal with a shoulder bag, leather portfolio case, wireless mouse (2.4g), USB-C hub, even a cleaning kit.........................$865.00 USD. An AMAZING machine for the price, I'm VERY happy with it! Thanks again, looking forward to more great reviews from you!!
I really enjoyed the video!! Thanks, I was doubting about buying Hp envy, but with your great content (this match and the dedicated hp envy video) I decided to go for this (hp) as my first (bought for me) laptop Really thanks! Keep doing these enjoyable content!!
I got the Lenova Flex 5 with Ryzan and Radeon graphics as my travel machine for when I'm out and about and I'm loving it. It handles the blender sculpting decently, and it makes a modest gaming machine with decent enough cooling that I can use a usb type c car charger for (cost like 50 dollars) Now with all of that being said, my use case was based around whatever was the least expensive machine with a stylus and reasonable gaming support and decent thermal characteristics, because quite frankly I'm well aware that this machine is likely to be dead in a year or so from travel abuse. And quite frankly the ability to trim a few pounds off of the weight of the bags is really one of the major deciding factors as well in my use case. This is the machine I would suggest students and on the road people consider if they place a premium on how much they are lugging around and are also looking for something that would be affordable to replace.

@@SigmaGigaChad-yv4ci For what it delivered and the size of the overall unit? It is still coming in at a fairly decent price, considering that other devices with an artist useable stylist and a comparable processor are twice the lex is. Thank you, so very much! I have been in the market for a new laptop for over a month now; I feel like the energy used when you search for a new home! I am tired, drained, and ready to get this process over!🤣 My criteria initially was: 2-in-1; non-Mac (powerful laptop, just too expensive to purchase and maintain its platforms). I started with five narrowed it down to One; but then I learned about how great & efficient the Ryzen 4000 Series are! However, none of them support a fully spectrum thunderbolt 3.1 or greater! Unfortunately this was the dealbreaker! Hence, HP Envy 360x, is my choice!
@@vortexxv7417 same, I've actually heard of a class action being filed against HP in the US because of the hinge issues. I'm in the market for a new laptop and pretty confused between the asus vivobook flip, the flex 5 and the hp envy. If it weren't for the horror stories that I've heard about the hp hinges snapping, I would have gone for the envy in a heartbeat, because the 2021 envy offers better display as well as rechargeable stylus (plus I really like the look overall) but I'm just so confused now, because although it does happen in a small percentage of their devices, hp is apparently really bad in dealing with these complaints, refuses to cover them under their warranty and want people to shell out a lot of money for the repairs.
I am really in the market for good value laptop. If one wants touch screen then yes these two are forerunners. Thank you for spending the effort to compare 5 best ones and then now the 2 best ones.
Something similar happened to me while I was shopping for my lenovo Flex5. It turned out it was last year's model which was lot cheaper and looked very similar. Ensure is the latest model. My 2 cents. Good luck!
The ryzen chip is fantastic. I bought the asus g14 with the r7 4800hs. I only went with this one because I needed the GPU. It's absolutely awesome. I had the Zenbook pro last time with the i7 8565u but boy god that was a hot machine. I had to force the tdp down to just 10 watt. Hope your happy with your new machine.
I bought a HP Envy x360 ryzen 5 3500u back in February, at moments, it would stop taking any and all input, touch, pen, touchpad, nothing. Though this problem cleared up after a bios update. Its glossy coating came off in a week. Since it was in replacement period, I just ordered a replacement. The new one worked perfectly fine... up until one day it just chucked out the micro sd card from its slot. From then on, the card just stopped 'clicking' inside the slot and the spring just kept throwing it out. This time, I went to have it repaired at HP World, and the technician there said that the whole motherboard would have to be replaced... on a 10 day old laptop. So I just sent it back got a refund. Then I just gave up on buying a laptop, kept using my crappy old Pentium dual core laptop until it too died. Now, during the lockdown, when there were very little stock everywhere, and this laptop had the best specs in my budget, I had the 'bright' idea to buy this laptop again, but this time at a local store. After all, third time is the charm right... It is a relatively high end laptop, it can't have problems three times in a row right? Turns out I was wrong. This one had a touchpad that had a mind of its own, it would start running around the screen on its own and keep left clicking and right clicking randomly. This time, I got a straight refund. I got so fed up with HP that I just gave up on it. The lenovo IdeaPad flex 5 4500u had been launched just recently, and since I really needed a laptop, I bought that one this time. The colour was not as vibrant nor was the screen as bright as the HP, but my now, my expectations had lowered so much that I was happy with the fact that it had not just up and died on me. Have been using it since october, and while I haven't used it for any heavy use, it is relatively fast. The 6 cores instead of 4 of the 3500u were nice. GIMP renders are quite quick and it can hold more than 20 chrome tabs without any problem. The battery life is quite good too. Though it was not my first choice, I am quite happy with the flex 5, but that might just be my lowered expectations. Best of luck to you ... But please stress test your laptop in its return period.
The 200$ difference makes lenovo kinda better and you can get the ryzen 7 4700u from lenovo at the price of ryzen 5 4500u from hp which is actually quite a difference as you're getting 2 more cores and 2 more threads so lenovo is the value champion here and hp is basically a more premium version of lenovo, also you forgot about the weight of these laptops (lenovo is lighter because its made of plastic)
Beware of hinges.....i have just returned the laptop because of the fear of weak hinges... actually the hinges are not weak the place were it is mounted on screen is weak and if it breaks be ready to pay 25000 .

Still like it? Do you game on it and how good is it? I plan on getting AMD Radeon 7.
Lenovo get dirty after it expires
@@nomanshikrani7244 idk man. I have a 30k low level lenovo for 3.5 years. It's i3 processor only. The booting up and all takes 3 4 minutes. But the working is flawless.
I'm biased but I feel like Lenovo makes better quality products than HP. When you get to the more "budget" side I feel like Lenovo does a good job with maintaining consistency and quality for the money. I've enjoyed the flex5 for how well thought out it is.
Lenovo is a Chinese company
You want quality, buy thinkpad x1. Is a FUCKING MONSTER
i've been using the lenovo flex 5 for 5 years still fast still clean not 1 single error if lenovo is reading this keap up the good work
Is it still good and are the hinges stable?
Thanks for the video. I'm currently in the market for a new laptop. I have the HP34 Envy curve at home and wanted to stick with the same brand. You convinced me to stay with HP! Thanks
Thanks for your review. I took your advice and bought the HP. It arrives end of Jan. I will follow up to let you know how it is.
I know it’s been 2 years but do you have any updates on how you like it?
@@ajenterprise3144 thanks for following up. Overall I think it's okay. I like the numerical keyboard. It sometimes doesn't notice any wifi signals and requires me to reboot it. Also, the speakers are not great.
@@isaaczeitoun7767 thanks for responding, I was thinking about purchasing, this will help me. :)
Really helpful and thorough review, thank you! I think you’ve convinced me to get the HP, even though I was tempted by Lenovo. What a shame manufacturers install such poor quality cameras on many laptops. If these were mobile phones we’d not accept such meagre offerings!
So am although the envy I'm looking at is running Ryzen 4 series 13.3 inch
Thanks!
Thanks for your support!
Thank you! just what I needed
Wonderful Concise, clear and very interesting video to watch with no distractions. Thank you!
There is also a 15,6" version of the Flex 5 and a 13,3" version of the Envy x360 for anybody wondering

I am so glad your video popped up on the homepage. Because my favourite one is the x360 (that i first found on New Egg, then PB Tech), and I love the look, and the specs of it! But after the video My views might be pointing towards the Lenovo! *shrugs*
Aayyyy im also eyeing up the hp envy x360 15 on pbtech hahaha
Where did you buy it?
WHERE DID YOU GET THIS OMG
I really enjoyed the video!!
Thanks, I was doubting about buying Hp envy, but with your great content (this match and the dedicated hp envy video) I decided to go for this (hp) as my first (bought for me) laptop
Really thanks! Keep doing these enjoyable content!!
Lenovo flip 5 ryzen 7 is value for money product
I got the Lenova Flex 5 with Ryzan and Radeon graphics as my travel machine for when I'm out and about and I'm loving it. It handles the blender sculpting decently, and it makes a modest gaming machine with decent enough cooling that I can use a usb type c car charger for (cost like 50 dollars)
Now with all of that being said, my use case was based around whatever was the least expensive machine with a stylus and reasonable gaming support and decent thermal characteristics, because quite frankly I'm well aware that this machine is likely to be dead in a year or so from travel abuse. And quite frankly the ability to trim a few pounds off of the weight of the bags is really one of the major deciding factors as well in my use case.
This is the machine I would suggest students and on the road people consider if they place a premium on how much they are lugging around and are also looking for something that would be affordable to replace.
Its not that affordable tho
@@SigmaGigaChad-yv4ci For what it delivered and the size of the overall unit? It is still coming in at a fairly decent price, considering that other devices with an artist useable stylist and a comparable processor are twice the lex is.
Granted, 700 dollars is still a fairly steep asking price, but it is hard to find something with the specs of this machine at that point without going into the renewed market.
But, budget PCs, even portable ones can be a thing if one is creative enough.
@@scurvofpcp im prob gonna get it cos i need it for university but i hope it lasts me a long time
@@SigmaGigaChad-yv4ci My major critique of the Flex is that it is not 'Sturdy', It is good for what it is but find yourself a hard cover clamcase for it.

May I know which one will you choose?

Sir please make video on laptop comparison with asus vivobook 14 flip vs hp envy 14 x360
Lenova flex 5 is best for me because it has Microsoft office for lifetime
I absolutely loved this comparison video. Great job. I liked the details of upgradeability and in use functionally. Over all, a very complete video. Thank you.
Good review.....I like the way you made the comparison like rounds...😃😃😃

Thanks a lot for the review! I´m precisely deciding between those 2 laptops. But in the Walmart website to buy the HP x360 in Canada (my favorite so far) I can´t see any stylus pen. So I´m gonna check your links.
thanks for this amazing video this is what i needed
Awesome video!
God bless you.. Seriously great review details. Thank you.
beautiful description....great job
Lenovo flex 5 rocks the world in 2020 and 2021 . It is discontinued because it's killing the sale of midrangers
Thank you, so very much! I have been in the market for a new laptop for over a month now; I feel like the energy used when you search for a new home! I am tired, drained, and ready to get this process over!🤣
My criteria initially was: 2-in-1; non-Mac (powerful laptop, just too expensive to purchase and maintain its platforms).
Hi! I've heard there are some hinge issues w the HP Envy x360. Have you noticed any?
Wonderful video with complete description.. so usefule for me to decide which one should I go for.. thanks a lot..

They are both the same price
Microcenter near me has the HP ENVY (8MB, 512GB) (Overstock-brown box, new) for $548.00
Something similar happened to me while I was shopping for my lenovo Flex5. It turned out it was last year's model which was lot cheaper and looked very similar. Ensure is the latest model. My 2 cents. Good luck!
You should get a hold of the Lenovo Yoga 6 (4700U, 16GB, 1TB) and pit it against the same-spec HP Envy 13 X360. 13" $969 Ryzen 7 vs. 13" $969 Ryzen 7.
Never ever buy lenovo but if you really do then sell it before it expires
Excellent job!
I odered HP envy x360 in black, AMD ryzen 7 hopefully, i will not b disappointed!
Thank you so much for your review. It's thorough, easy to understand and honest. Subscribed ♥️
Great review, thank you
The 200$ difference makes lenovo kinda better and you can get the ryzen 7 4700u from lenovo at the price of ryzen 5 4500u from hp which is actually quite a difference as you're getting 2 more cores and 2 more threads so lenovo is the value champion here and hp is basically a more premium version
of lenovo, also you forgot about the weight of these laptops (lenovo is lighter because its made of plastic)
Beautiful information. Thanks
