Dave I took about a 6 month break from guitar. I still fulfilled my commitments with the band I'm in and with the church I play at. But other than that I didn't even look at or pick up the guitar or even watched UA-cam videos on the guitar anymore. Not sure why, really. Between getting divorced last year and adjusting to being a single dad, my world was turned a bit upside down. Then I started watching your videos with Captain Lee about how to sound like Hendrix and Frusciante and Gallagher and Green. Between your videos and seeing my friend's trio live a few weeks ago, I have been bitten by the guitar bug yet again. Been playing at home everyday and am finding joy in the guitar again. Thanks Dave. Really appreciate you helping me get out of my funk. Eric Phoenix, Arizona
There are two types of wah players - one is like Dave who follows the music and lets the wah emphasise where required. The other is the robotic moving up and down of the pedal in a metronomic time signature. Sadly the latter is my skill level, hence not owning a wah pedal :-) .
I hope you're doing well Dave. Each time you use the Wah pedal, your ability to express yourself through the guitar goes to a whole other level of self-expression. Super intro Dave!
You have done it again mr Simpson wah has never been a favourite effect of mine but listening to you is making me think have i got it wrong here listening to your intro jam was an education to me i never ger what you get out if a wah you made it sing
Hi Dave. Just found out A guy called David Wayar Had to fit a resistor to the wha pedal. To stop crazy a noise When Jimi plugged the fuzz In to it. For the Woodstock gig..
Just brought my first Wah a few days ago! (VOX V847) Only ever tried one out once years ago and didn’t get on with it. Thought I’d bite the bullet and get one, theres definitely a technique to it! But It’s been fun messing around with it the last few days!
Hey Dave if you do another "sound like" anytime soon i think you and Cici should try Sound Like Deep Purple because it's one that hasn't been done before and the tone of Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover are very hard to get. Just a suggestion thanks 👍
To be Honest I didn't heard any difference, the WH10Revival seems to be more resistant, when you play it it seems to be really solid as rock, and I Will purchase a Revival because I'm on my research to get the closest WH10 real vibes with a non plastic housing. So here you really conviced me to get one! The sound is so close as the original V1 Your video here is really interesting and great! I'm really really excited to see the ultimate Wah WH10 shootout comparison with all the WH10 you have. Thank you again for all you share with me / us Greetings from Belgium !
That's a really trebly wah to my ears....I like my old 70s DeArmond Thunderbolt....you can really dig deep with a wah though Dave....really good playing throughout.
Dave the guitar is black jimi hendrix stratocaster clone. And it's in the post office ready to collect they left a card to you take for collection. The information is in your email you should check. The guitar is at the post office in BRACKENBOROUGH ROAD thanks.
@@thedavesimpson thanks man, I appreciate and trust your honest opinions each time. I love the Golden Plexi, you actually talked me out of spending some big $ on a chorus. I really appreciate your insight. On another note, do you think the newer American made strat are that much better than the mex player Strat ? (I truly apologize if you answered this in a vid already)
23:57 love these quirky moments they alway make me laugh haha! Awesome comparisneonaay, original WH10 has a bit more mids to it than the Revival WH10. Listening to a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. Other than that they’re very very similar. Thanks Dave you’re awesome!
You're awesome man! May I ask you: is your Vox wah 847 modded to true bypass? If not, do you notice any tone suck/change when bypassed? Thank you mate and rock on!
Great pedal & built to last unlike the plastic pedal, the main hinge on the plastic pedal has got to give at some point & then it's time for the epoxy resin. Great sound Dave & I could of sworn you had a Hendrix perm at one point 👍❤️it
I want to share my experience with the wh-10 revival. It sounds brilliant however mine developed a fault almost immediately a popping when the pedal is engaged and you depress the wah. It went back to Poland from UK twice, the first time I paid both ways. Then he said he would replace and hasn’t.. ignored me for months until I said I’ll post it on reverb he said he’ll send a part which I can’t replace because I don’t have the skills or know of anyone. I wouldn’t buy from him I’m looking for alternatives.
The wh10 sounds so refreshing, especially when Dave is playing it. I own a V3 myself however it recently broke and now it kills the sound when i turn it on. Already opened it up but found no loose connections. Anyone got an idea whats going on?
Is the switch latching properly? I had to replace mine. I can point you in the direction of the ones I used; they don't quite feel the same, but they do the job and weren't expensive at all.
Hey Dave, I know you don’t always reply and I could message you on Patreon but I need to know one thing. Does this Wah to the ‘By the way’ thing, you know so you can engage it and disengage it without sweeping back. John Frusciante sometimes just engages for the toe down effect and then switches off without rocking the pedal back. It was something the original V1 did, does the revival allow this? Thanks Dave.
@@thedavesimpson ahh thanks so much for letting me know. The WH-X does this but Will makes so few of them and hasn’t done since Xmas. The V3 doesn’t do it and Wilson Effects do a modded V3 that doesn’t do it either. As far as I can tell, it’s either the V1 (yeah right I’m not spending that on vintage plastic :p ), WH-X (if will ever makes another one) or this new Polish dude….hopefully i can get my hands on the Polish pedal although I’m still confused as to how to buy one! Thanks again for confirming!
Dave, are you saying you are running guitar into the Ds2, then the golden plexi THEN the wha?? I thought you always had your golden plexi after your wha.. keen to understand if this has changed. Also, have you ever tried a vintage WF-10??
So Dave if I understand you correctly you have the golden plexi BEFORE wah? As in guitar - g plexi - wah - rest of pedals - amp ? great jams as always!

Shall do. :)

All really good. You nailed it. 👍☮️🌞🎸⭐️❤️

Wow again Dave. I'm always floored by your technique. How do you keep that guitar in tune during those wicked whammy attacks?

Dave, you should give the CP10 a go if you haven't before. Quite a unique pedal for compression/sustain. I have had mine for 35 years.

Wahtastic feckin yeah
Hey Dave! Nice job, as always! What would you choose between this and the Triungulo Lab one?
This one.
@@thedavesimpson definitely!
The revival had a tad more high end definition, but what a great copy, as to my ear it enhanced what was great to start with.
Looking forward to the shootout 😉😎👍

Almost dimebag like crazy squeelies with a strat... lol nice. Wouldn't expect that thing to still be in tune though? haha.
Dave, I hear a touch of Eddie Hazel....good stuff...I enjoyed watching! cheers!
Thank you. :)
So good! I think I know who could replace John instead of Josh all these years...😉
:)
That intro jam escalated quickly!
Hey Dave, been watching lots of the vids, would you wait for the vintage revival possibility or should I just grab a V2 if I come across one?
In all honesty you can't go wrong with either. The revival is better but only by a little. If you find v2 i'd say go for it.
@@thedavesimpson thanks man, I appreciate and trust your honest opinions each time. I love the Golden Plexi, you actually talked me out of spending some big $ on a chorus. For a second I thought Dave was gonna drop the Live Earth intro…, I need Dave to do a lesson on this intro (Live Earth) pleeeeeeease!
Saucy ✌️
Should add the Wilson Effects modded V3 that John is now using to the shootout. Someone please send Dave one to test!
The wh10 sounds so refreshing, especially when Dave is playing it. I own a V3 myself however it recently broke and now it kills the sound when i turn it on. Already opened it up but found no loose connections. Anyone got an idea whats going on?
I'd troubleshoot it for faulty switch or transistors/IC.
Is the switch latching properly? I had to replace mine. I can point you in the direction of the ones I used; they don't quite feel the same, but they do the job and weren't expensive at all.

How does it compare to the last copied updated version you loved and put on your pedal board ?
I personally prefer this one. Its cleaner and also made of metal. :)

Ds2. :)
@@thedavesimpson yup! Thought so.
Cheers Dave. Btw, you're a legend! Have a great weekend.
If I close my eyes and listen to the intro jam I'd swear this was John circa 2007.
:)
Dave did you finally get the guitar 🎸?
Please reply in a new comment on what guitar it is. :)
So Revival or WH-X?
Either, but i prefer the revival.
That poor little strat, set it down for a wah wah while and let the strings cool down and stop glowing.😆✌️✌️👍❤️

both sounded amazing think there is a slight difference but not alot and I like them both equal 😃
