Love that AN is playing Rock and metal, that is putting a system to the test unlike some soft jazz that's often heard in showrooms. That last piece was great.❤
Daniel, son of the owner always plays a wide range of music at the Bristol Hifi Show. I love Audio Note for playing all genres really well. The emotion they bring to music is amazing!
I see Peter got the new dubstep records I recommended 😅😅😅 it's insane what those small speakers can do right? The sheer amount of energy coming from them with a few watts is nuts.
Thanks Mikey for the Flashbacks to my Late 80's and Early 90's with Orange Juice and Thizz at the Raves! The only thing missing was the Flashing Lasers and Lights! Kick @$$✌️
In the ear of the audio file, we all hear differently. I don’t want to hear distorted voices and voices that are not musical he’s screaming into the mic terrible terrible rush, screams, and it’s pleasant and dynamic. Thank you again we’re all files, and we all hear a little bit differently.
Several years ago we bought a pair of Audio Note Conquest Silver Sigs ($30,000) from a retiring Calif AN dealer. We loved the amps but when asked about AN speakers he candidly replied "there are laws of physics that cannot be denied" and that a relatively small woofer cannot move enough air to punch at their price point competition. Corner placement, vibrating cabinet, silver guts, etc can only do so much.
Yes, I'd say AN does far more than any speaker I've heard in this size. By a strong margin. But sure... not in a huge 30 x 50 room with 10 foot ceilings. The dealer shouldn't have made that comment without putting it into room size context. Typical sales drivel that dealers spout off... lol. Thx Dave
@@OCDHIFiGuy The retiring AN dealer raved mostly about Magicos which we owned at that time (M5s). Deciding to change gears and go to delicate 300B SET tubes, my wife & I spent several hours listening to AN-Es (jazz, vocals, soft rock) that were priced around $40,000 and they were nice; but in comparison we much prefered Devore 0/96s (warmer, larger sound). At the end of the day we bought neither; instead went with Avantgarde Duos (love 'em). Diff rooms, diff ears, diff systems...
Yeah. AN is about bringing the concert to your small or mid sized room and not an image of it. Who cares about imaging when being at a concert?...exactly. They sound very lively, present, very dynamic and fill the room with a wall of sound like being at the front at a concert. I think this is the reason why these speakers are so irrepaceable for some people including myself. I dont think any other brand does that like AN. Other speakers are like looking into an aquarium, Audio Note is about swimming with the fish. And you dont have to place them in corners like AN says. You can place them similiarly to other speakers if your room allows it and it will be highly beneficial to the sound like with every other speaker.
The lKondo Ongaku integrated amplifier was amazing some 25-30 years ago and remains a legend till today. Audio Note (UK) and Kondo Audio Note (JPN) are 2 separate companies making great stuff of their own. You should give both a serious listen.
The problem with AN is pricing, ridiculous price tags everywhere. Those 2-way speakers are the new field coil version that will go for >$40k. Thank you but no thank you.
Where other so called "esoterica" manufacturers run and hide from the compression, Peter Q says bring it on! Even over UA-cam, just listen to that system make sense of the wall of sound music, making the space for it to assault your senses free of restriction. I have listed to this 4 times now, it sounds better recorded by Mikey than it would sound on many so called HiFi systems. i Cant wait for you to visit the factory you will probably need a 3 or 4 part series to cover what they do. Explore the Audionote levels and what they mean. This is a great company making unbelievable;y great products. Even though they are steeped in analogue loveliness, the CD players and DAC's rate right up there with the very best..When you know you know.
The way the speakers are design is to be placed in the corners, close to the walls, toed in. It is unique for Audionote. If you take them into the room the magic is gone
My question was actually more about the „law of the first wavefront“. That close to the sidewalls, there must be reflections and you might hear at least three „pointsources“. One of the speaker itself and one on each sidewall and on the frontwall aswell. Maybe a reflection from the floor ans ceiling too. That is actually why you pull out speakers, not only because of bass, also mids! Has anyone experienced that with audionote in an untreated room?
@@keswohler6877 AN speakers work with the room, not against it, the wide baffle boundary design essentially turns the entire back wall into a baffle. One thing you notice in most pics of AN systems set up in actual living spaces - little or no acoustic treatment needed...
I remember seeing tool in 2001, Midway back on the floor. The sound pressure was too much. I felt like i was beat with a bag of pennies after the show. So percussive with the subs. The only thing louder was front row at Jethro Tull before they used to fly the PA. Lasted about 15 minutes before we left that spot Audio note is a kindred cousin . I suspect that if i grew up in England i'd be hanging around the shop learning as much as i could comprehend. They are like a farm to table restaurant, it's a real treasure that's only available from them.
If you're listening to sh*t like that why not just use JBL's and a Crown Amp. Pointless but the 100k AudioNote set up didn't explode so I guess that's something. Love your channel Mikey but that was kind a dumb...
You can do just volume, or you can do volume with precision and refinement. Keep in mind, Mike is trying to show is what you can accomplish with good quality products and only 18w of power. If you were there, it would have blown your mind
Because those products don’t do that music justice. It’s okay if you don’t like some music, but this comment suggests you just don’t get it (and that’s okay), but do you really think Mikey doesn’t know what he’s listening to/for, and that some people love rock and EDM? I appreciate the hell out of him for demoing this stuff on a hifi setup (because yes, it matters, even if some can’t hear the difference).
If they can do these songs justice they can do it all.
Exactly my point ... ;-)
Agreed.
I like audio companies run by real people, having fun. Top notch
Likewise. Happy Listening!

Thx !
To the test ?! Playing crappy sounding stuff sounds crappy on everything. If you want to play that kind of music loud just by som PA pro stuff.
old pal of mine is AN's guy in Scandinavia, always spins his beloved Celtic Frost at shows! he's had whole families head banging in the dem room..😉
I didn't hear any metal in this video 😉💀
I like Audio Note’s approach to complete system from electronics, speakers, TTBL and cabling!
Yes, it's a full AN "Ecosystem".. ;-)
Sounds very good. I like the way the sound of the kick drum came across. Excellent!

Hats off for this!

Glad you enjoyed it
Loving it!! I wish I had been there with you Mikey!!
What exactly do you love? The rock music …or the thought of playing this kind of music on tube gear?
The sound to me is nothing to write home about.
Love your passion!
Goa? Surprising they were that precise with those songs, wow! I have never heard AN in real life, I’m gonna have to check it out sometime.
Do it !!
Great 🤟🏻
Rock on 🤘!!

Diplodocus? Haven't heard that for like 10 years. Nice
no Diane Krall??? This cannot happen again!!!
I would like to have met Peter, but I had no idea he was at the show. If they did more demo’s like this they would sell a lot more gear!
what was the last tune that played ??

Right ?
I always wanted to try a Audio Note integrated or amps. But have to purchase used toooo. much 💵 for Mawaa new.
There you go... buy used !
Mikey, did you get any sense as to how the MPD-8 might play in a system from AN?
Love RATM
Yes !
At my tablet it seems very boxy sounding, no low and not too open. What do u thought Mickey.
It was amazing. Balanced and very low distortion. Not boxy to me..
How loud do you think that room was ?
I have similar system. And I can go above 110db.
I'd say 96 to 98dB
The problem with AN is pricing, ridiculous price tags everywhere. Those 2-way speakers are the new field coil version that will go for >$40k. Thank you but no thank you.
Yep, it's for exclusive ownership... agreed. Not for "regular buyers" and thats its draw...
AN UK has 6 levels and the first few levels are reasonably cheap. You don't need to buy the Ongaku.
Ouch 😣
Hurting your sensitivities I see... lol
@@OCDHIFiGuy Just really poor choice of music…in my car or truck ok, but…yikes! For a so called listening test?
Real music I tell you. Now days mainstream musics are woke friendly ..
This is a woke throat punch 👊
Finally not jazz avant garde shi*, get those cones moving!
Did you listen to Ongaku? Thats one hell of an amp
My AN kit-1 2A3 tube amp gets this (3.5W) level too, the SRPP driver stage helps achieve this. I still think Kondo is king.
Forgot to ask Peter what AN Kits is... care to chime in ?
@@OCDHIFiGuy ANK are born out of AN-UK, I keep getting shadowed if I post a link

I use only audionote silver tantalum resistors and a lot of their caps in my builds.
Great !

Hey Mikey, what do you think about their corner placement? Hows imaging and soundstage compared to conventional placed speakers?
The imaging was spot on. Not all box speakers set up the same way. 😉
They are designed to go
in corners.
