ROAD TRIP MIDDLE EAST: Iran (Part 3 - Yazd, Isfahan)

- Welcome back to the next part of my journey as I travel through Iran, filming my experience as a tourist, sharing with you the kindness of Iranian people. This time, I go from Shiraz to Yazd and then up north to the beautiful city of Isfahan. In this episode, we rent a car and drive to the magnificent historical ruins of Persepolis. I sleep in a little ecolodge homestay called Nartitee in the mudbrick village of Taft. The next day, I explore Yazd, a former centre for Zoroastrianism, and meet a sweet local girl and her mother. The adventure continues as our road trip takes us up to Isfahan - a sophisticated cultured city with inspiring architecture and history. We stay in the home of a kind local couple and I speak with their son, Amir, who is a professor at a university in Isfahan.
I continue to see examples of the kindness of strangers, Persian hospitality and signs that this population truly wants peace and friendship with the rest of the world. I hope that in sharing this journey with you, I can give you some insight into their hearts and connect this troubled but beautiful country with humanity.

I disagree with this and my whole point is that although I’m aware I am very privileged to have certain liberties, I have seen kindness shown to all kinds of people in Iran. This is the very reason I interviewed the British family in the last episode - to show you travellers with children who might have had a different experience to mine. Please remember, this is not a documentary made by the tourism board. It is supposed to be natural and real, showing the people who come across my path. If I had more time, or if I had a crew helping me, or if I had a film permit to interview people about more issues, I could have made a more in-depth study of this country. But also remember, I was not granted a film permit so I was only legally allowed to film my holiday and the things that happened to me as a tourist on a tourist visa. It seems to me anyone who visits Iran is amazed by the warmth ,generosity and friendship of the Iranian people as well as the beauty of the country .It just indicates how the media can manipulate and pervert the truth .No country is perfect but the people of Iran are very nice indeed.I hope one day this country will be free from sanctions and isolation .

I am a 51 year old American of Mexican descent, born in West Texas. Upon seeing this beautiful documentary of Iran, I couldn't help but literally cry throughout the entire video for it's universal message of peace. I saw the beauty of the Iranian people in this video. While the world may not be perfect, and held together by a fragile fear, nevertheless, there remains dear and precious souls who shine light into this dark world, regardless of religion, creed, or culture. I was so moved by that powerful song "I inhale the scent of the river. And this brings the memory of the kind friend I have". The scene with the 14 year old girl was so authentic and heartfelt, had me in tears... And your quote about separating the people of a land and the laws of that same land was so wise... we can and should love each other with more power than the weapons we constantly point at each other... The other startling thing your video made me ponder is the fact that you felt it necessary to include a disclaimer about the injustices you DIDN’t witness... yet, if you went to NYC, you wouldn’t feel compelled to justify your enjoyment, even though the US perpetrates myriads injustices (the gun violence your mentioned, but you could’ve listed our immigration policies, our homeless and drug addiction issues, our racism, the disparity between rich and poor, the obesity epidemic, rampant sexism and sexual harassment, not to mention the endless wars we sponsor and on and on...) . Strange how deep certain prejudices run, people question westerners who enjoy certain foreign countries. I feel this from friends and family because I chose to live and work in China. They are constantly asking me “why” “aren’t you scared?”and “doesn’t the lack of freedom bother you?” ... Yet if I moved to England ( a statistically more dangerous place to live with a similar amount of state sponsored surveillance ) no one would question it... When I was going to Iran last year my family and colleagues thought I went crazy, they said the last goodbyes to me as they thought I'd get kidnapped or killed in Iran as no one actually knew much about the country. Frankly speaking I was nervous myself but the experience that I got there is life worthy. Beautiful, friendly, hospitable people, stunning nature, food is super yummy. I really wanna come back to Iran some day. Ever since my trip I tell the people around me the truth about Iran, and showing them pictures. We should talk and show that Iran is worth visiting, that it is absolutely safe. Culture, history, beauty of the whole nation should not suffer/get lost or destroyed because of the political arguments and misinformation from the media side. I traveled to Iran, Qom. Jan 2017, a taxi driver tried to take more then what was fixed price, taking advantage of my less knowledge about Iranian currency. Two young blocks sitting in the same taxi didn't let it happen and told the driver to money back. Nice people
I cried when the beautifull gentleman cycling stopped and smiled and acknowledged the lady and then shly got on his bicycle and gently left
So much was said about him in those actions and my words don't do justice at all.

Also we have HUGE variety of foods but in my opinion ,Tahchin,koofte,halim,ash,sabzi polo,kashke bademjan,gheyme,ghorme sabzi,fesenjan,dizi,dolme,kotlet are the best ones to try first
im pretty sure there are lots of persian restaurants in amercia. the taste will be close to iran but at least you will try them for first time

This summer I had the opportunity to visit Iran for 2 weeks. I can totally relate with your videos. I was amazed by the People, Culture, Architecture and Landscape. The most hospitable country I have ever visited. I never felt unsafe or in danger during the trip! I visited the most beautiful places I've ever been, where it's almost bizarre to not see any foreign tourists.

Last time I went to this bridge in the video where the men where singing a group of girls where surprising their friend with a birthday cake and one of these old men started singing a birthday song for her and soon all the people around gathered and wished her happy birthday even though they didn't know her. I am an Iranian and my first trip to Mexico was for the beautiful beaches but then I fell in love with the history, people, natural attractions and the food that I want to see more of Mexico! Already thinking of my third trip to Mexico and this time to Mexico City!
Its not risky nor expenssive, actually very affordable even cheap for tourists because of the crazy inflation of the currency as a result of trump's sanctions. And it's absolutely safe

I know if both countries establish stable diplomatic relations both can benefit greatly from one another. But I don't think economic sanctions is going to bring Iran and it's people down to its knees. This is an ancient nation, and a former world super power with rich and complex culture. I know that the Iranian people have live through worst times and circumstances then what they are facing now. They are a tight knitted nation and people. Tis why the US is hesitant to wage war with Iran, it's a veterian of warfare, empire, cultural titan.

These two men singing made me cry. So beautiful. It looks so much like Bukhara, Samarkand.. I went there (solo female traveler too) a couple of years ago and when I returned, I researched a bit more and got curious about Iran but figured it wasn't a good idea these days. I was as wrong as the people that told me not to go to Uzbekistan... what I found there were just kind, generous, loving people.. I still remember a man that made sure I saw one of their oldest mosques.. it was a Friday and I was so not supposed to be there but he really wanted to show me the beauty of it and argued with the guards outside lol... he gave me a little tour and then I understood why he went through all the trouble, it's been one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in!. I hope to visit Iran soon, your video inspired. I'm Mexican and can relate to Iranians quite well.. the next-door neighbors have never been easy. Seeing the Iran videos for the first time. I worked with an Iranian woman for 10 years. She was Mother Earth and helped everyone. If I could have taken her with me from job to job I would have. Always with a smile she greeted you and asked if your day was going well. Kindness oozed from her being. Tears sprung to my eyes watching and listening to the men singing. Thank you Kylie.
These people dont deserve to be sanctioned. They dont deserve that, especially drugs and food
the people most def not but the government does, drugs and food are not sanctioned but its the Iranian government that abusing the situation and raising the prices.
Do not worry, sanctions imposed by coward and cowboys what we deserve not coming from other treatment our right is what we have within not from outsider. Is just the opportunity and priod for others to show true face of themself.

Part three was so well done! The interviews with the young girl and later in the piece with the father of Kylie’s host family were priceless. This has certainly been an eye opener for me! I will share this with my Iranian friends in Canada. My dentist is a younger Iranian born Canadian, I need to make him aware of Kylie’s channel and this wonderful series. I know you worked very hard on this series Kylie, your attention to detail and background research shows. You are doing what you were put on this earth to do!

Hijab is not only brutal law against women. Yes women are respected by people but there is so many brutal/Islamic law against them. For example they can't be a judge. Or they can't be a president. Their testimony in court counts half a men, i mean testimony of two women is equal of a testimony of a man. List is long.

This video shows Iran is a beautiful country with kind, generous, sophisticated people. It is always the governments and media who cause strife and difficulty. Even within one country, among one people, they sow discord. Even more so between countries. We must always remember that the people are not the government or the media. The middle east has been in so much pain and injustice for such a long time.besides everything going on in iran i am grateful that it stays safe unlike our neighbours unfortunatelly. you know we have a great poet called Sadi who lived in shiraz and he says :
