"Mimic and Revenge" is the theme that runs through this very first episode and interview with Daryl Palumbo. This was done in late 2016 with George Reynolds in a quiet living room in Selden, NY. Daryl talks about his inspirations, band dynamics w Justin Beck, favorite front-men, musical approaches and all while trying to balance the inevitable birth of a new baby and a new record.

Daryl's the man. Both inspirational and humble and so talented on top of that. Glassjaw is my favorite band and if you've ever seen Daryl up there on stage belting it out and just giving each song his all, you'd know why.
Z.J.R. Ramsey Agreed.
Dudes LUCKY to have a BFF / guitar legend/ management oriented homeboy like Beck .
As much as I love Daryl for his talent, voice, energy and lyrics... This interview pretty much proves that Beck is and probably always has been the corner Stone of gj
well yeah, Beck wrote all the music! everything, even drums
I think Beck is the cornerstone, but it's one of those partnerships where the two of them together creates this thing bigger than what they could do on their own. They're both very different in many ways, but their differences never seem to add friction to their friendship. If anything they seem to appreciate each other's talents and differences. We did an interview with Beck too.. Check it out when you get a chance. -George Reynolds

That’s a shitty thing to say. Daryl usually does one take on his vocals, he’s his own genius and key.
Beck is one in 5 million as is Daryl. Together, they're two in 100 million. It's amazing how much they compliment each other.
That's because Justin Beck is awesome... and his guitar playing, mixed with Daryl's lyrics and vocals are the heart and soul of GlassjAw.
100%
Mimic and Revenge would be a good name for a future GJ album
As soon as I heard him say it, I'm like that's the title of this episode.. It's so very GJ.
Daryl has such a great energy, and Justin is the real deal. Justin can see the heart of music.
This is amazing.
Agreed.
such a great interview!!!
I love iconoclastic modern lore // mythos
Brand New has it too. That urbane, if not gritty East Coast mystique & such
Suburbane haha
I love that ice cream truck in the background
Haha.. Me too.. A lot going on in my neighborhood that afternoon, I'm surprised that's the only thing it picked up.
Daryl has kids Im dead
Joseph Hernandez I know. It's fucking crazy.
He's 42. It's not that crazy. I've been a fan since 01', I'm 36. I don't have kids, but I should haha.
i had literally no idea
I wonder why Justin Beck never had a side project (that I'm aware of). It's not like he couldn't.
He owns merch direct, he provides merch for some of the biggest bands, his company also acts as a direct (pardon the pun) ticket outlet. Basically all the years glassjaw got screwed beck made a business career helping other bands avoid it. He said in another podcast that its because he's busy, also Daryl is the only person he enjoys making music with.
How is it nobody said shit?!?-
Seth Nicholls Your the first..
Isn't Beck Jewish?
Yes. Why?
How is that relevant? Unless you're talking about Sons of Abraham
@@alexhennigh5242 His last name is David, calm down.
Glassjaw are my favourite and always will be favourite band. But when I saw them live in 2012 I was so disappointed. Daryl kept doing this weird convulsion on the mic over and over on every song and it just ruined it. He literally looked like he was having a fit and I just couldn't work out what the hell was going on. He also continued to change the lyrics of almost every song which just was crap.
Saw them last year (2022), he’s calmed down a lot with the wild stage antics.
Talked alot, said not much.
this statement makes no sense.
He clearly said a lot. But the way in which he jumps to subjects is something ya gotta be on board for... The conversation is not as linear as other interviews but there's a lot of gems in there. Thanks for listening
Couldn't agree more, like having a conversation in a bar with a drunk old man
So is Daryl gay?
No, at least not that we know of
I know sometime back in the mid 200’s, somewhere between 2004 and 2006 I wanna say, he fairly openly admitted to being bisexual.
Shame Daryl went full sjw in the past few years
Shame you're nothing more than a sad trope pushing out tired cliches.
shame you’ve got the emotional maturity of a ground squirrel
lol grow up
he was never on your team buddy. get over yourself.
