I have a screen that supports 320 x 200, why the fuck does it do it
@@CutieFakeKirbybecause older computers that ran DOS would use that resolution. But by the time Windows 95 and 98 came out 640x480 and 600x800 were the common resolutions and 320x200 was only ever used for games.

Windows 7 in 640×480 reminded me of when I ran it on a Samsung Q1 (display ran at 800×480) in 2013, where I was somewhat able to surf the web and use Evernote on it (with their old legacy UI), but kept having to scroll around.

This just made me think, imagine accidentally setting your resolution to 100x100 or lower and being unable to change it back. That’d be a nightmarish situation to be in

It is possible to do this without any tool. On windows 10, just set 480p using advanced menus (not booting into vga graphics, there is a hidden option for 640 x 480) and set 500% dpi scalling

320x200 is the lowest possible on windows 7. I think it might be possible on 10 too. Just do what you just said but after you've turned it down to 640x480 go the the normal list and a list of secret resolutions appear, with the lowest being 320x200

@@0x0F15 Oh I meant that it's possible to make your screen that small without a tool. And that 640x480 is not the limit. Obviously you went below 320x200. That's what makes this video great:D

Im guessing this can be done on real hardware since nvidia allows you to get custom resolutions, although i think the limit is 144p. You can alerady do it, but i mean in a command prompt way.
No, and even if you can, you need vmware drivers on your pc.

The resolutions around 3:50-5:00 look like old phones' resolution (320x240)

If you go to 1x1 on Win 7 and lower it makes it really low detailed windows 8 and above just goes greyscale
You have to do it on VMware settings for display and goes to 640x800

And the resolution is very low 1024x600 , but I have a program that need more resolution , because when start program the most of the buttons is cut because the resolution is too low. Sorry for the late reply! I'm not sure. If the native resolution (1 physical pixel on screen per resolution pixel, 100% display scaling) is 1024x600, you can't get any higher. If the laptop has display scaling set, you might be able to get a bit more out of it.
You may also connect up an external display.
This tool will be useful with windows 10 and 11 that do not allow low resolutions

It's already possible to put the 640x480 resolution by pressing F8 and selecting the 640x480 option and windows starts with the resolution

If your PC's video card vendor's driver supports changing the video resolution beyond what's on the list, sure!
However, this script depends on the VMware video driver. I think Nvidia, for one, might allow changing resolution beyond normal limits. Sorry... :)

@@0x0F15 Also, i have a question, can you unhide the resolution that windows hides? Because that would help me get games to 240p, because if the resolution shows up, the game is allowed to set it to that. (If we edit config files obviously), also without any program, like instead editing regedit or something like that.

Did you try using the keyboard to login?
Yes, I did try tabbing to focus on the password box, but it was stuck on the Ease of Access button. It is, of course, possible if you set auto-login.

It's Windows 7; you can tell by the Aero taskbar. 7 and Vista have almost identical start orbs :)
