It's a beautiful game, and I mean no offense by this, but this really shows how talented the graphic artists for Shadow of the Colossus were. Despite this game having better textures, lighting effects, and overall graphics, Shadow of the Colossus has a consistent and vibrant art style that makes the blurry landscape feel surprisingly alive. While this recreation is beautiful and faithful to the original, the original had beauty that couldn't be recreated with modern tools. It took a big team of very skilled people.
Jack Napier I've a feeling having ~50 people working on it for several years might have had something to do with that :p The demo builds of SotC didn't look anywhere near this good.
Just downloaded and explored the game for a while... it is beautiful. Being able to actually access the upper garden levels of that shrine was awesome, and the grass/greenery/textures look fantastic. I can't imagine how much time Funkyboy has spent building this, but he did an incredible job!
shanedaman112 The Spider model is coming along in Maya, looks OK so far, but adding the textures will be difficult as I will have to recreate them in Photoshop from those postage stamp sized images in the art book, so I can't guarantee they will work... Then there is animating the 3D model which I will have to learn from scratch, so you will be waiting for a long time. By the time I'm finished The Last Guardian will have arrived and you will have forgotten about Shadow of the Colossus ; )
I REALLY hope you succeed in your goals, Nomad! I would very much enjoy seeing the Cut Colossi going about their idle business, the discarded lands, and (perhaps *one day*) being able to control a Nomad with his trusty horse. If this creation gets that far, it wouldn't take much to turn this into a proper game. A basic food and hydration mechanic, *perhaps* a day an night cycle, a sweet inventory system, and a overarching goal in a similar style of "Shadow of the Colossus" (to name a few big things). If you ask, I can help with the conceptual work of such a late stage project. It is you guys' baby, however. Regardless, I wish you and Funkyboy much success in all of your endeavors!
You would not believe how happy this has made me. I'm now one step closer to my dream of playing SotC with an Oculus Rift, fully immersed in the beauty of the Forbidden Lands. [spoilers] The second Thomas Dvorak's The Glasshouse With Butterfly (Machinarium soundtrack) started playing in the secret garden I almost cried. My two favorite games, and two of my favorite soundtracks, united. A truly magical moment. My jaw literally dropped and stayed wide open for a minute. Good thing no one else was watching... [/spoilers] I hope this can grow into something even more special, and hope that Sony will let it exist (I'll be saving and backing up every single version of this, just in case). Thank you Funkyboy for making this, and thank you Nomad for making a video about it (which I haven't watched yet, want to explore it first myself), without which I would probably never have known about it.
Dudes, this is funken awesome! Ever since I found this channel (about a month ago) I've wished so much that someone would one way reconstruct the removes colossi and unfinished lands and all that and now it's actually happening! I so hope that with this comes the entire reconstruction of the map and the huge areas that Nomad has since discovered. ^^ On a side note I hope this allows him to really figure out where the Ico Castle is and all that, especially in reconstructing that too.
FIRST! XD The video is amazing Nomad! =D I had a great time re-exploring the Forbidden Lands in this Unity Build. Funkyboy deserved an award for this work. I have no words to express how good and awesome this is. Every big fan of SotC will go crazy(as i did) with this game! Thank you Funkyboy!!! ;D
It´s kind of amazing how you like the same things as I do, you used parts of the Machinarium- and Bastion-OST and, as it happened to be, my favourite songs from these. I´m so downloading this game now, thank you for sharing it with us and keep up the good work!
Oh my dear god. The fact that this is a thing, and the possibiloties thaat could be done with it, are godlike. The thought of creating the discarded colossi is legendary; "proper" mods were never do-able in SotC, so it wasn't possible to add in or change anything. The fact that we may see Spider first if we get colossi excites me to no end as well. By the way, I found that this video was put up a short while into watching a TF2 video. Then curiosity overcame me and I watched this. GG, internet, GG: you brought me a first person SotC homage/extension. On the PC.
Your content keeps getting more awesome every year, Nomad. Sorry I've been away for a while. Nice to see you're keeping the sotc fanbase interesting! :)
You're like the ENB or the VaatiVydia of Shadow of the Colossus. Like they keep Dark Souls and Demon's Souls alive in the Souls Series community, you keep this beauty alive inside us all, and beyond. Good job as always Nomad, and carry on with it. i wanna know more about this game ;)
Oh man, I saw this on Facebook and I thought it was a official post or something like that from a official programer from the Team Ico... But that's okay. Really, nice job Funkyboy! Somedays ago, I've finished and learned how to make my scenario on Maya, on a school of games that I'm going. I hope someday if I can make great scenarios like that! Thanks for the good time I spend trying to get on top xD.
👍 *Good luck with that remake, **#Nomad**. Really hope u pull it off. And for heck’s sake, make sure to include more fog and less draw distance like the orig **#SOTC**. That made it so much more magical than the last year’s remake. You really need that mystical feel. And I’d be so excited if u pulled off the spider. It looks so menacing!*
Once again I have to comment on yet another video concerning access to the very top of the temple. It's been my dream (& many others too) to have access to the very top by just climbing here & there as well as using stairs. No hacking needed. Hopefully this will happen someday if we ever get a director's cut. Sorry if I keep repeating myself on this subject. It's just something I can't stop thinking about. Especially when I see videos related to it.
Heh, i've already imagined of sort of director's cut for PS4, orignal game along with a remake made on a new engine with better graphics, and finally the "full" version, with lost colossi and stuff. Nah, propably there will be just AC...
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I always hope in some day see some Beta Colossi, i hope you can do it with FunkyBoy, you are very talented Nomad Colossus, you are the best SotC Gamer Fan of the world! I am not lying! You can get all things what you want, because you are dedicaded, and have much patience to make game things, hope you can do SotC a better game, i am counting on you, deep in my hearth, because one day i desired to recreate the beta thhings of SotC, but i didnt get it because that was very hard to make, and i dont have all the time of the world do do some kind of it, seems you very occupied too,but you have things what i dont have:Patience and willpower, hugs, my dear friend, good luck in realize your dreams( my dreams too). If you want someone to help you a bit, you can count of me, because a team with dreams and willpower makes everything, good luck and be patient ;)
It would be hard to do those banned colossus, it would be great if the community restore the inaccessible areas or making the ways to these colossus (is only my thought) But the first goal is Spider!
Just a thought I had... What if the discarded colossi and beta land were real but were already destroyed before Wander got there... what if they had to be destroyed before Dormin could be sealed away, or maybe they're part of another deity like Dormin (like a brother or sister) who was even more of a threat to the sacred land. Maybe Dormin gave humans a blade in which to kill said sibling's colossi which were what kept it alive rather than trapped. Two feuding gods could explain why everything went to hell and the human settlements were destroyed (or flooded)
It'd be fun to explore the sacred land before everything hit the fan... Live through the events and try to save people from the colossi. Would be interesting to see how they built around 16 O_O
Can you make a video showing a comparison of this in the actual game Shadow of the Colossus? I know you have a video briefly showing the top of the Shrine of Worship but I've ALWAYS wanted to see a video seeing it from every angle and every little area possible to see because I've never been able to get up there in any way shape or form, without all the bright light and stuff at the top.
[spoilers] Ah, I see you took a different route to the top (or at least in the beginning). At the top of the first elevator in the secret garden I jumped on the blocks, then jumped across the gap to the ledge of the waterfall. If you walk further along that ledge you eventually get to an elevator which brings you up to the rocks. Seems it's a bit shorter than your route, but more tricky in places. [/spoilers]
I'ts my fault. This is how I found my way to the top. Just after I uploaded the video, FunkyBoy Told me the "right path". But just as I told him: I prefer to go though Dormin's Hole anyway XD, I really like the view. ;D
Yes, I think you went the right way, I missed one lift apparently and went a different route. But that's the beauty of this build, you can explore and find your own way ; )
But eve n the part which is shown in the game was broken I suppose... Because at the end the whole bridge was broken ... So I think there should be no bridge at all
Technically if one realllllly wanted to, a grapple hook/descent line can be used. Maybe a hand glider? However a hand glider would make it impossible to get back out. Makeshift hot air balloon? It's not totally impossible as some civilization or another build the bridge and the ruins in the first place, and chances are with inferior technology ; )
Well I'm bad at this kinda things but you could say that Dormin wasn't fully sealed away and they needed to build the Bridge again so they can seal him a second time? (Dunno I'm not that good with this stuff xd)
Really awesome. :) I do wonder, why didn't he want to copy the game way of third person (As he said he didn't want to)? Guess it would be very hard. xD
Isn't the point in it that it was 1000 years after the 16 were defeated? Unless you mean that there were the 8 cut from the game were actually there, but wander didn't know? And now a person 1000 years later has to fight the final colossi? That would be awesome!
Whoaw, je viens juste de le télécharger et c'est magnifique comparé a la version originale, quel dommage que je n'ai pu me prendre SOTC vu que je n'ai pas les consoles demandées =(
I heard that you are making a game where you can fight the unused colossus from SoTC with a friend. Is this true? Cause those colossus are very interesting to me.
This is amazing but is there a way to map the movement keys to WASD? I'm having trouble getting around because I'm used to that set up but I can't find an options menu anywhere. Thanks lol
The Red Shadow basically : english and many other lang = qwerty keyboard french and many other lang = azerty key board oh and if you want azertuiop, qsdfghjklm , wxcvbn
Hey Nomad I have a question for you. If you were asked by Ueda to design a colossus for sotc what would it be? I might have a giant hydra or something.
A giant hydra sounds awesome! Fans have come up with some great designs for colossi over the years so I don't think I could improve on their designs. Personally I just want to see the discarded colossi, or learn more about them at least.
Why didn't you show Mono? You did not meet her? Why is nobody talking about seeing Mono? I saw her and met her sitting in the secret garden in the first playthrough. I dont understand what's going on
Abrobra Gamer You can set your controller buttons at the start of the game. Click on the 'Input' tab and play around with the controls. For me it was a bit of trial and error until I had the controls set up how I liked them - i.e. jump, crouch, sprint, zoom etc.
Yes I am. It's the last colossus I have yet to make a post about but I will get to it in the near future, I'm half way through a massive post about ICO at the moment, so that will be the next blog entry, Dirge will come after I expect ; )
What do you mean exactly? The game is complete and downloadable ready to play. There won't be any updates to it as Funkyboy has moved on to other things now.
It's a beautiful game, and I mean no offense by this, but this really shows how talented the graphic artists for Shadow of the Colossus were. Nah, Just joking.
ainda bem que existem pessoas que ainda gostam desse jogo.

I think this game would be gorgeous with the Occulus rift, seriously, It's beautiful.
I can't agree more
Have to admit, I half expected Dormin to pop up and surprise you at the very end.
If you actually pull off making the beta collosi, that'll be one of the biggest things in sotc history ever! :3

Nomad Colossus Awesome , will be waiting! I'm a developer in Unity , if you want to work on a sotc project , you're welcome :)
@@NomadColossus how are the models coming? Lol
@@NomadColossus wait you made the beta colossi?? edit- just realized this was 7 years ago

I REALLY hope you succeed in your goals, Nomad!

i hope one day they do a remake of shadow of the colosus
VR perhaps?
Maybe but i wish they include the missing colosus, they cut like 10 of them i think
Irvin Reyes it would be a nice dlc if worst comes to worst.
Irvin Reyes there's used to be 40+ colossi
well yeah you got your wish
