I'm glad this can still be done on ps4. I remembered people doing this on ps2 and was confused when someone said you had to have beaten the game at least 3 times to get enough stamina.
A while back me and churchneoh were looking into this becuase he was preparing for a platinum trophy speedrun and we wanted to see how early we could get there, but I must say it's crazy to go that early! Wow, amazing, I didn't know about those first two rests, I thought you needed the parachute for that second one xD Great video ; )
I always wondered why ICO never got a remake. Maybe it was because of the poor sales in North America, but I would love to see that game come back as well.
In the PS2 version I climbed to the top straight at the beginning. Took a long time to find the spots where your stamina would fill back up and also a type of diagonal jump was used to minimize stamina loss. Also you can save stamina by jumping from the back of your horse to start out higher. It's difficult but doable.
You can make this at 1/3rd the stamina normally required... and I have 4/3rd the stamina, using the same resting spots, and I can't make it. I guess it's because I jump too much. Tiring stuff.
Not by name, but I'm sure you can find on UA-cam videos of ambient noise from the game. You can also record it yourself if you have the PS4 background.

Of those one was lost because the guy decided to jump down too far, one because I climbed too high when going for the ledge and the last attempt was lost because he fell going for the same ledge. I guess getting into the secret garden has to wait for my 3rd playthrough when going for the 79 pieces of enlightenment.
@@hisroyalbonkess don't worry I'm going for the platinum trophy and you need to max out your health and stamina anyway to get that. The second playthrough will be just defeating the colossus on hard in less than 5:40h so there won't be time to go for the secret garden. I wanted my first playthrough to be mostly blind so I will have to go for a third playthrough when collecting all the enlightenment pieces anyway.
Apologies for commenting on a video that is 6+ years old. But how are you landing on that wall's ledge with your second stop (the one where you keep scrambling due to the clunky controls)? I keep going too far clipping through the pile of bricks next to it.
No need to apologize! The trick is to jump up, and then go to the right, rather than jump to the right. The tricky part it eeking around the corner enough to land on the wall without overshooting. I hope this helps!
Did anyone try the jump in 1:23 on a PS5? I tried many times, and got close, but it just doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's due to the different controller or the system itself, I don't know
@@hisroyalbonkess tricky jump indeed lol... do you have to hold the jump button for this jump (to do a long jump), or you just press it repeatedy in a rapid succession?
It's very finicky. You need to position your joystick just right while making sure you're jumping constantly once your stamina is full. You'll want to position your left joystick about 15-20° counterclockwise to run up at the correct angle.

You could use it after the 14th Colossus, cross the bridge, and jump down to Agro to get to Argus (Colossus 15).
I was thinking the same thing but, unless you have a way to survive the jump, it doesn't seem feasible. : (

You can, actually! It's tricky, but if you land on Agro, you'll survive. It could potentially save... Maybe 3 or so minutes.

I had only found the first two shortcuts myself, and I hadn't managed to utilize the second.
The second rest just has to be really precise because if you fall past the wall , you won’t be able to get out .(in my experience) lol

Actually it's pretty easy if you have parachutes so...
@Shiryu Amigo Right, but honestly I reset most times when I fall plus no chance of activating the parachute accidentally if it's unequipped.

I did it with 1.5 play through's and a fair amount of yellow lizard tail farming.
Bro the last stamina recover part was done by me didn't need to farm for more stamina to get relics got all on my second playthrough 👍

It may be due to the timing of your jumps. If you wait for your meter to charge up all the way you lose stamina.

I can't verify since I don't have a PS5, but that is a particularly tricky jump.

Ok I was finally able to do it. Trying to jump into the wall did the trick, and there's no need for holding the jump button.
