  • Here is my review of the GFX 100 II. I have owned a GFX 100s for the last two years, and I am pretty excited about the new updates to the GFX lineup.
    I recommend watching at 1.5x speed and then slowing down for anything interesting😂

    You can put "shoot without lens" even if you are using adapters for your EF lenses (like Fringer adapters) if you want to use manual focus lenses like FD or others, the focus peaking it is awesome.

    One of the perks of adding the optional tiltable EVF adapter is it pushes the EVF slightly further back. You mentioned in the beginning of the video that you have to tilt your head for your nose to be comfortable against the back of the camera. You should definitely look into the EVF adapter to help with this! I absolutely love it and think you would too.

    I finally got myself a GF 35-70, and it's great. I'm selling my camera now, and plan to get this GFX100 II in the future, when I can afford it. Hopefully they'll update the firmware to fix the auto-focus issues, though I'm sure it will be a nice step up from the original GFX100 anyway, even if they don't. I'm wondering if you ever use your 70-200mm f2.8 L IS on your GFX100 II. I think I'm going to end up with a GF 20-35, GF45-100, GF110, and Tamron 150-600, but I'm really curious about that 70-200mm f2.8 L IS, since I miss mine (loved using that lens on my Canon 5 D). Thank you for this video and all the videos you make about the GFX system cameras and lenses. I found you because of your videos that show your full-frame lenses on your Fringer adapter, just so you know.

    Dude, why the hell does Bob look so pissed off? I just bought the 100s new last month, I'd been wanting this for a long time. I really wanted the II but after testing the 100II in the store, I took the SD card images back home and compared them to the tests I had done and didn't see a difference. Dude, this is one of the best GFX 100, II videos I've seen , really like how chill the vibe is.

      I’ve been using GFX 100 and 50S (first gen) and kind of wanting to upgrade but disappointed it’s not much of upgrade. I’m using manual lenses most of the time . Better wait next gen GFX 100 III . I Hope we could get global shutter in 3-4 years for gfx 100 III

    Hey Ely, thanks for the review. Still appreciate the tipp with the Fringer and some of the FF lenses you tested. I got my GFX II just after release and I am at around 4000 clicks now - I am an Industrial photographer though. Everything is a bit slower. I am having a blast with the 30mm native Shift lens and I really dig the 55 and the 80. So far the camera offers everything I wanted to have for my work. The tiltable and attachable viewfinder is a big relief for me, coming for a Phase One System. I also cant believe how stable the camera is when connected via cable. Hours of shooting, not a single loss. Its just great. The look is a bit different and P1 files were a bit more convenient to use in C1. But everything is pretty great so far. :-)

    Thank you for sharing images. It's nice to see how they look straight out of camera. I currently own an R5 and just ordered the 100 ii. Would you say that the native lenses on the Fuji camera is sharper than RF lenses with the fringer adapter?

    • @ThePhotographerGuy
      @ThePhotographerGuy  8 місяців тому

      Sharpness is really lens dependent. The Sigma 105mm is super sharp and then Canon 35mm is pretty sharp too. The GF glass is probably the best option if you don't need or want low aperture lenses.

    Like you said, this system is very addictive and creative. I’ve previously owned the 100S with the 80 so when they announced this one, I hesitated a little, but traded my Nikon Z8/9 kit in for it. I also owned the Sony A7RV and previously owned the R5. But back then couldnt find many RF lenses for it, including the 28-70. Needless to say I always had a FF option beside my GFX body and kinda missed the Canon system so I sold the Sony for the R3 and a used R7. I used the R3/24-105 2.8 and 100ii/GF 80 1.7 at an event this past weekend. I like them a lot. The R3 I find the AF is better than the Nikon and Sony but I was also impressed with the R5 when I had it. The Fuji has become much better and makes all their lenses shine. It would be cool if I could adapt the Canon RF lenses to the gfx. Until then, I also have the 250.

    Awesome video! Im definitely considering buying this camera. But do you actually notice more light/shallower depth of field when using the adapter + full frame lenses that are f1.4-1.2 etc compared to the GF f1.7 lenses? My understanding is the full frame f-stop equivalent of lets say a GF 55mm f1.7 would be crop factor (0.79) x 1.7 which would give you a full frame f-stop equivalent of ~f1.3 (and a focal length of 43mm). When adapting a full frame lens to a MF body like a canon 85mm 1.4, I think we have to divide the f-stop by the crop factor 1.4 / .79 = f-stop of 1.77. I might be wrong but my understanding with converting focal lengths (on APC or MF lenses) to identify their full-frame equivalents, you have to do the same for their respective f-stops, and visa versa.

    • @ThePhotographerGuy
      @ThePhotographerGuy  4 місяці тому +2

      Short answer. I love the colors, tone, resolution, and over all image quality out of this sensor. AF is better than other models. I haven't tested the newest GFX 100s II.
      As for depth of field, the Aperture stays the same but the perceived depth of is a bit more amplified. Focal lengths are wider with 35mm lenses. Using EF glass makes this system much more interesting. I stated this youtube channel around testing different EF lenses on the GFX System.

    Awww man…so sad to hear this „when theres movement i use the R5“… really hoped (esp. for the price!!) that this would finally be THE GOAT-Level Portrait camera that brings medium format into the same space as current FF-offerings…was almost ready to move my business there (weddings and portraits are my work) but have now chosen Nikon. The last 6 months i tested and owned many camera brands in the search how to continue after i finally had enough of Sonys Colours…Fuji and Nikon have a magic to their colours that really impressed me…but Nikon to me has basically no compromises and comes out much“ cheaper“ then gfx in the end… thanks for all your awesome reviews and cool tests of niche things, it was tremendously helpful!

      One or two more generations and GFX will be there-processing power/readout apparently still not enough. If they get phase detection into the next 50mp variant maybe it will be just a bit closer? XT5 is nailing focus with 40mp and processor intensive x-trans so I’m hoping xtras6 or 7 will be the ticket.

    Answered my question right off the bat! Awesome work dude. I’m on the 100s and the autofocus can be a bit of a bummer at times, especially coming from the a7rv. But the images are just so much richer and mean more personally to me.
    I’m in the studio mostly, and I’ve found it really depends on if the model has big opened eyes or small beady eyes. Sounds crazy, but the big opened eyed girls hits must be 85% the girls with squinty eyes hit is around 50, most are usuable, but it just stinks when one was dead on but the one you wanted hit the eyebrow or nose lol. I think my being stopped down to f8-f11 and using a strong separate continuous light really helps for getting keepers.
    That being said your findings on the improvement is huge. I’m holding out for the 100sii because I’m broke atm…hopefully the rumors of it are at least somewhat true.
    And killer shots brother!

    70% is just horribly low in '24. The only thing stopping me from buying into medium format; with even entry level full frame cameras having 95% accuracy this is just unacceptable. Guess we will wait for a 100 iii in 3-5 years.

      Yeah it was all marketing BS from Fuji. They were trying to sell you on medium format being able to shoot like a full frame camera. It’s however, a nice studio and landscape camera!

    The sound of your videos is too low. Also, your mic sound strange, like it takes only some frequencies.
