This one is a must buy. Classic Strange has been on a lot of wish lists for a long time. Thanks to the ML team for getting this out and congrats to the fans that have patiently waited for this. Now, about Doom 2099...
Bro, I was looking at my Avengers LAST NIGHT thinking "All I really need is a Classic Doctor Strange." Congrats on getting to do the reveal!
This version being classic 70s Dr Strange, belongs on the Defenders team that consisted of fellow powerhouses such as the upcoming retro Hulk, classic Speedo trunks Namor, Nighthawk, Silver Surfer and we need an updated in scale Classic Valkyrie. You can also throw Hellcat on the team as well.

It actually WAS an enchantment he cast that changed his face.
The blue face doesn't work on that body though, as the costume changed along with his face, into a tight superhero suit.
Later in the early 2000s they gave him the blue look again (THE ORDER) and briefly seen in Fraction's DEFENDERS.
IN THOSE stories, it was turned into a mask.

@@BoogNice Glad to help, but again...Nope. Not a mask. The latter story artists also, like many, mistakenly thought the original was a mask, so that's what they drew.
But thankfully, only shown as a mask in a panel or two, (either by it being held in hand, or shown to have fabric wrinkles) so it can be safely ignored.
But that said... it's a nice figure.
I only wish they had got the gold trim on the Cloak correct.
(It used to flow completely across the shoulders, and slightly down the shoulder-blades, like a Priest's robe, and then up behind his head, with the Edging on the collar, and "horns" remaining red. Somewhere in the 2000s that was forgotten, and a few artists started drawing it with the gold as being all around every edge.)

Congrats on the reveal tho it seems like a slap in the face to make one of the most wanted marvel legends figures a Walmart exclusive especially when Walmart is probably the worst retailer in terms of exclusives.
Probably gets rereleased next year. There was a time the entire comic F4 family was walgreens exclusive lmao

Speaking of Namor, it would be nice to see them do the classic swim trunks again, but with pin-less construction. I also wonder now why hasn’t HASBRO released any teaser for doing more Fox films X-Men characters by now? We still need a Famke Jean Grey, James Marsden Cyclops and Halle Berry Storm. I don’t know if they want to do the “younger” versions with those actors as well, but we fo need the original cast for sure. Great review Boog!

16:06 We got one like that a few years ago...and at some Walgreen's you can still find it. I mean it might not be the exact one you're talking about, but from my memory it's a good 90% there.
Not saying this one isn't worth $26 (it's debatable though) but I just feel like this is prepping us to make your run of the mill ML figure that price which is unfortunate

Marvel Select has both the MCU, and the comic version. They are both great. Of course I want this one also. Good video. I want a Clea figure to go with these. I love the blue mask head.
You made my entire week! Dr. Strange is my favorite character and getting a modern Marvel Legend with his classic look is wonderful. Crazy bright and garish colors and I’m loving it.

Awesome review, Boog! I'm not sure why the glued the cloak down, but it looks good, none the less. I'll be painting Strange's chest design a lighter blue for sure because that bugs me a bit too. Overall though, this figure is a great, classic Silver - Bronze age Dr. Strange, and it's long overdo! Now we could use a good Clea.

Now this is what I'm talking about. Figures I actually want, good video boog. Now we need a power man and iron fist boxed set and classic wonder man.
To have really made this figure go further for the aesthetics, why Hasbro did not consider using a cloth cape with a bendy wire. I am sure folks would have raved in a positive manner for going and doing that. Since the cape moves at its will in the comics, you could have the cape off from Strange, and like coming towards him to attach in mid air or something else. I dig the closed eyes second head.

I wish this Strange had lighter paint applications on his torso. Still a great looking figure otherwise. Might actually be worth the price increase. I haven't decided yet. Ha!

That head sculpt with the closed eyes reminds me of photos I've seen of Stan Lee in the 1970s

Yeah, there are times where the characters do look the same because of the artist in charge.
Same thing with Peter Parker and Mr. Fantastic, depending on the artist, Reed just looks like an older Peter with grey temples.

Great review of a really nice figure. Should look even better after putting a wash on the cape trim. I would've preferred a book over the axe and a pointy hairdo too. Art Adams' Marvel card is my iconic Dr. Strange.

Not read all comments so I will add this, that art on back of packing is from Kevin Nowlan, all his art is terrific. I feel not enough credit goes to the great comic book artists who really make these characters shine & eventually make us want the action figures.

The next thing I want to see them work on at the house labs are getting more the retro characters. Some classic avengers villains like countifaria, or graviton. But I've also waited a long time to see some of the original first appearances too the one that comes to mind which is a guilty pleasure, is the first appearance of Wonder Man, Adam warlock would work too.

Still prefer the Toy Biz one over Hasbro's due to detail. The face sculpt on the Toy Biz one is really one of their bests. This new figure is great in its own ways though.

Super excited for this figure! Definitely got to pick this up whenever I can but I’m sure he’ll go up in price super fast which will be frustrating. I would’ve been pissed if we didn’t get accessories with him since it’s been forever. Glad they finally gave us one and I think he looks amazing! The cloak doesn’t bother me too too much because I hate that cloaks/capes are always just floating around and move a lot so it’s good for me but I understand why people would be mad or bummed
