excellent Video! I bought a Brushy Mountain medium queen castle because I run all mediums.. This year I will be doing this and your excellent advice is helping me understand what to do here in CT. Bruce smith
You mentioned using 1 frame of capped brood, larva and eggs from a donor hive and a starter strip. Do you always use a queen cell or do you allow those bees and that frame from the donor hive make a queen? Would a mini walk away split work?
Thomas Kingsley I always use a cell. There are not enough bees on one frame to make a good queen. They will make one. She will not be a quality queen though.
Do you think that if you put drawn drone comb in a queen castle she would fill it with drone brood? I have been wondering how you could make sacrificial drone brood for trapping veroa mites.
Still struggling with the notion of mating mini nice. Are you placing frames with eggs and letting them make a queen of placing frames with queen cells in these queen castles?

Love your beekeeping videos, just not into the lengthy intro.

rochrich yes she would. You also wouldn’t get the benefit of all those newly emerged nurse bees to care for her brood once she starts laying.

I use cells. I place a frame of brood and come back later and drop cells. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the video! Do you have any problems combining the bees by just pulling the divider? Will the queenless bees try to kill the other queen?
No. They are normally happy to have one.
How do you feed them?
On your free plans for Queens castle just a picture an no measurements? Am I missing something?
I am not finding the measurements on the plans.
You have to download them. At the bottom of the page you can enter your info and download any of the plans available. They’re all good.
Yes Sir, I tried that and only the 1st page downloaded. I'll figure it out, I enjoy your video's.@@joebrown2487
Where is the link to the plans?
