I love rice, and I'm gonna argue that rice is a base ingredient, not a vessel. I feel like the vessel has to be one whole unit, while rice is made up of many individual units that isn't combined or blended together. (This is me arguing while choosing to mentally block Ryan's 3rd choice lol)

I've never been more proud of Steven than when he was the ONLY person to choose "white bread" as one of the top 5 edible food vessels. I'm honestly so surprised no one said "sliced bread"! There are a lot of bread products mentioned, but c'mon, sooo many people eat sliced bread so often!!
"Toast" is clearly a top pick, and no one has it on their list! Yesterday I had avocado toast, honey and butter toast, and egg salad on toast. Fucking love toast.

Literally YELLED when he said injera. It's SO GOOD. It's so soft and delicate and spongy, and it has a slight sourdough taste. After it's soaked up the juices of the meal it literally melts in your mouth. 10/10 would eat my weight in injera.

In defense of the waffle: when I lived in Southern Russia, my favorite cafe specialized in waffles. They had sweet waffles with chocolate, marshmallow, caramel, fruit and more, but they also had savory recipes with meat, vegetables and sauces. All the recipes were named after famous people. My fave was the Stephen King, with roast beef, fresh vegetables and blueberry sauce. That cafe rocked, and proved that waffles can deliver more than syrup.

this was such a delight! andrew’s list was probably the best one (the least controversial in terms of whether it fits the brief for sure) but steven’s is the one i align with most, and i suspect most people will. AP flour made me laugh so hard i thought it would be the biggest HUH of the episode, and then flour tortilla happened
i definitely thought by food vessels they meant tacos, sandwiches, soup, etc. so i understand where our people's princess was coming from with his choices and then having to scale them back

I actually think white bread is the best one. It is by far the most universal and universally loved. It is also so nostalgic. PB&J, cinnamon toast, grilled cheese, french toast, BLT, the list goes on.

I hate to admit it but leaves are a #1 item. First 100% natural no human interference. Second they are the oldest vessel. Third they hold such amazing food and used right can enhance the flavor of the food they hold
