@@JasonCarl I don't even play VTM and I'm enjoying the story. It's like an old school radio play. Baron Abrams is actually one of my favorite supporting cast members.
@luke caruana aw yeah but I meant that he's me favourite character. Which is weird since I rp as an Lasombra which as ya know, we of the shadows aren't Ventrue fans by any stretch.
@clarissa35f I don't think Victor is Fiorenza's childe. But she likes to say 'Victor my boy!'. Probably uses it for other subordinates too. Would you take a guess at who sired him?
Victor's smartest comment was that he always assumed that there was a Nosferatu around. As both a player and storyteller, I pretty much lived by those rules. I had both PCs and NPCs who would perform utterly random acts with the utmost secrecy and randomness just to throw out false trails. I had a Giovanni character that rented a dozen storage units all over town and who would go to them on a set schedule to store random baubles. I had a Ventrue character who dismissed all of his ghouls and drove to a cemetery at the edge of the city and left flowers at a random grave. Remember, when you look at nothing, you may be looking at a Nosferatu.
The one with Ventrue seems like a huge security issue.. Distancing yourself from your own security and consistently go to a random isolated cemetery on the edge of town to place some flowers seems like a huge security risk.. And for what? You could track down the grave and identify the connection if there is any between the 2. And if the grave changes each week then any followers would realize it is random however it still leaves the guy in the open.. All they do is follow him and wait for him to abandon his security and you follow him and can pretty much take a free shot at the guy. The Giovanni guy is pretty brilliant as you can see when you are potentially conpromised when one of them opens perhaps. But the Ventrue I dont see the point in his actions or am I missing something here?
@@DutchGabbers the Nosferatu are very clever when it comes to research and information; so I can understand what you're saying. Agreed about the Giovanni, I can imagine a Nosferatu getting pretty tired of following a dude whos just stocking random warehouses.
1:48:01 when Nines looks around the room after Victor says he always thinks that there are one or two Nosferatu in a room is the height of understated comedy to me, and no one will convince me otherwise.
Jason as Abrams is phenomenal. Fast, intimidating and witty responses to Temple, changing intonations and dynamics. That roleplay is really impressive. I feel like Im learning 1st rate acting here :O
Thank you very much! It felt quite scary to have to try to do what our players do so easily every week, but it was fun and I felt that I learned a lot from the experience.
Matthew Dawkins has alot of useful clan guides. I liked how he impersonated a vampire while explaining the clan. He got me interested in VTM, after stumbling into one of his videos. It would be epic if he did a character for this show.
Jason as Abrams in the first episode before they introduced other guests for characters was golden. If they had made it anyone else he would not have that same calm and collective yet menacing presence.
I'm surprised that Victor didn't give up the information to the other Barons about Abrams being third party related to the Second Inquisition. The whole reason why Victor is Baron of the Valley.
And their blaming him for the events of the Grove does not at all sit well with me. The Camarilla was going to make a move at some point anyways, he's just unlucky enough to be the scapegoat who was the first to have to deal with them so they pick on him. I know it was specifically Jasper who killed that Sheriff, but I believe the general way that situation went was justified if unfortunate.
the fact they didnt even want to talk about the grove being a setup and just dismissed it and Abrams went straight to protecting Therese when it was brought up and Nines was intrested but didnt question furtherand they all stumbled over the lasombra and why it didnt attack,,,,it did its job watch what happens report back
@@pepethefrog6809 they’re also both Bruja. This type of work, this thought process, and this way of going about it, are the main reasons they were Embraced into this clan. @@pastorTracy911 Almost all of the modern Brujah descended from Troile, the fiery and passionate usurper quite the opposite of their sire which was the original Brujah antediluvian where the True Brujah branched out from. The True Brujah's are the ones that embraced scholars and philosophers into their ever so waning fold, something that Troile followed but somewhere along the lines they became more about rebellion and free will. I think, only those who descended from Meneleus kept the warrior king, philosopher mindset. Nines is probably the closest we get to a True Brujah, of course, without the emotional detachment that they have.

I'm so happy that Jason Carl is the official actor for Baron Abrams. He does the role so well, and bringing in someone else just wouldn't have been the same...
Not a fan of how this seems to be going since he's the only Baron standing up the Camarilla and their plan to take over the whole city. They others aren't acting like true Anarchs at all.
yeah, they're actually throwing the young ones to fight their battles, just like the camarilla. I don't think this will pass unseen, tho, the coterie is already aware of this, and once they deal with the camarilla there will probably have some confrontation to change the way anarchs are ruining things, and I'm reeeeaaally looking forward to see this! Also, I still suspect Abrams and/or Therese might be changing sides...
@@toshomni9478 But that's also to be expected. Part of the problems that they've had as Kindred is that the older you get the more conservative their responses are to challenges. Any changes that occur come from the young.

@Halberdier Who's to say Nines didn't die with a full beard and trimmed it up during VTMB? I want to say the vampire can spend a WP to keep scars/tattoos from night to night, but that could be in VTR.
SPOILERS... I think Abrams move was more than a slap on the wrist.... as Nines said, Temples is moving fast. Already he has so many vampires tossing their power behind him... The ministry and weird sisters... Eva... and the rumored Ramona. Abrams seems the vamp who likes to be the power others turn to for help, to hand out “rewards” like candy and take them away like toys. And so many groups are going around Abrams to Temples. All those favors lost.... it wasn’t just a slap on the wrist. It was a power move to tell Temples he isn’t seen as a Baron on the same level as Abrams......
This is the moment I really see that the anarchs are no different than the Camarilla, just like a prince that dishes out domains and can take it away... For shame. What Abrahams wants to fight for is not freedom, it's his power and control that he doesn't want to relinquish to ANOTHER tyrant.
Jebus, that tension was so thicc when slice of Victors domain was given to Fiona. I even forgot they play a simple game till the dice roll. Good job, bravo

I honestly feel bad for Victor in this situation. Yes, I’ll be the first person to say that his little stunt was not wise and could have ended horribly in a number of different ways. But not only did they all rip him to pieces, they struck a deep and personal blow. He lost the most valuable pieces of the Valley (including some of the music and entertainment studios he wanted) but he lost it in such a manner that he was basically reprimanded like a child. Then when he attempts to call out a very shady member at the table (Terese, I’m glaring at you.) he gets silenced AGAIN. And then the maraschino cherry on top of this sour sundae is that the other barons had little to no better ideas on what to do, and what it boiled down to was basically sending in the coterie that they’ve all apparently had headaches with into Elysium. >_< Victor, I honestly am sorry for you. And to be told that it’s in his best interests and he should thank them for it...damn. No wonder his list of trusted kindred got a whole lot shorter. Though I do give him props for wanting to put it to the side as they have all have much bigger fish to fry. AND for shooting down Fiona and Terese’s sick idea of weaponizing Annabelle’s idealism. Way to go dad. On a separate note, I definitely like Nines Rodriguez. He already seems smitten by our beloved Annabelle. Careful kiddo; you have a following growing whether you know it or not. 😉

"You'll know if I overreact, Victor. You'll be the first person to know if I overreact!" That was a chilling line from Abrams. I love it. Also, Nines and Victor are both amazing. I'd follow either of them to Hell and back.
I love rewatching this series because it is nice to see that Victor DID stand up for principle over profit. That is an Anarch Ventrue at their core. Pride and principle over profit and gain. Nelly, Annabelle, Jasper...they are his coterie and are all worth going to the line for.
Principle is it’s own kind of currency, it’s own kind of profit. I think a Ventrue would be the first to point out that you cannot command from others what you refuse to display yourself. Anarch Ventrues lead from the front.
It's great that whenever Therese gets questioned about her authoritarian or Camarilla-ish style of governance she immediately goes for, what could crassly be called, the disability card. Very girl-boss feminism, which I do love about her character.
Nines is right. Responsibility is not assumed authority! I forget the Greek leader who said the best to lead was the one who doesn't want it. Select your leader as the one who doesnt want it and that will remain furthest from corruption and Tyranny.
Chaz is less obnoxious than "Baby B."? With a wooden stick trough the heart and torched, maybe. The only good thing on Chaz is the actor, who makes him this annoying. This guy plays him very well! But as character: Only a destroyed Chaz, is a good Chaz!
Fair enough. For me though Chaz just speaks some archaic posh english and acts like an enemy. He hasn’t done anything to make him particularly hate able. Annabelle however is a character that I can’t stand as a person. In context of horrible vampire rule her rebellious motivations make sense and are appealing to me but she as a person is utterly repulsive.

Seems like Abrams thinks he's already the Prince of LA. He and Victor are supposed to be equals in this little hierarchy of theirs, what does he think he's playing at?
He's playing the game, the *old* game, and doing so quite well. He's manipulating the other barons into agreeing with his propositions to exercise power and consequence for the behavior of other barons. This is how vampire politics are done, you keep your contemporaries in check when they screw with the Masquerade, no matter how justified. All the while, this makes it more and more comfortable to rely on him to provide solutions to difficult problems as they present themselves, and it keeps the rest of the society informed of the weight of so much as threatening the Masquerade. Annabelle should be exceedingly grateful this is coming down on her baron's shoulders, and I can only hope he learns the right lesson here, seeing himself surrounded in a den of lions who can see through his greatest defense: the perception of his power. Abrams is doing much the same as Victor is playing at, with far more experience and connections to make it more real.
really?? I feel like Victor is far too concerned with his own power and turf go be considered a true anarch. Nines is humble and doesn't care about a land grab. I think he's the true anarch
Abrams and Therese mentioned the rules of Elysium and how Camarilla values the traditions, BUT Vannevar had broken the Masquerade to attack Victor and his coterie at the Grove. I have not seen the rest of Season 2, but logic tells me the prince is not above bending the traditions to the point of failure for his own advantage, thus probably does not lay in friendly terms with Strauss, him being devout to the Camarilla first, and princes second.
@@tkschaaf7096 That's not very smart. To plot against a fellow baron because he carved a tiny piece of your land that he granted you in the first place? Nope. And Abrams is not someone you can just take out the board without it making waves. I'm sure you've watched the entire season too, but yeah. Abrams is powerful enough that he felt the Beckoning, and the Kindred who are called by the Beckoning, most likely, are childer that the Methuselah feel would be very useful with their battle against the Antediluvians.

I was waiting for the shoe to drop on Victor after he essentially declared for the Camarilla. God damn this entire episode had me sweating bullets. Excellent roleplaying from all. Absolutely amazing!
Jason Carl always brings his A Game to every episode, both in terms of creating a scene & inhabiting a role-& his turn as Abrams in this episode really proved that point!
"Wherever there's an ounce of power to be had, there'll be people dicking each other over. You think the Camarilla invented that?" The Barons' meeting really reminded me of the words of Bertram Tung :D
I've been meaning to comment on this show since Season 1, but I always keep forgetting. Anyways, I love this show and the cast. Jason Carl has a gothic Bob Ross vibe to his storyteller style, which I find awesome. Now I'll admit, I've been wanting Victor to experience a significant set back after becoming Baron. Not out of malice, dislike of the character, or anything like that, but because I just want to see him in full-on serious mode. I can't wait for the next episode to be up loaded. And before I forget, congratulations on the upcoming Season 3.
Luis Carazo was such a distraction in this episode as Nines 😂😂 Good lord what a hunk. Loving how all the characters are slowly but surely working towards being their best selves. Their bond is what makes them strong. Even though Victor is fumbling in the dark and have people discouraging him, he's at his absolute best more so than he was in the past. Love his character development so far, as with everyone's. That moment with Jasper and Anne made me tear up, they have such a sweet and enviable bond! (And literally where are all the sweetheart men like Jasper in the real world?! I need one 😭😭) All these actors deserve way more attention and fame, highly underrated.
Therese: Can I use auspex Abrams: sure why not Loved the episode, Nines was spot on :) I wonder if the actor had to replay the game to get the character right, we need more of him on the show!
33:44 Nines: "I need to keep that thing at bay so that it doesn't take over and cause me to become something that is unfamiliar to me" Therese's head WHIPPING to attention is a mood!
Victor made the most anarchist decision by claiming Praxis as an Anarch Baron. Nothing brings down a system like The Ivory Tower better than actually getting *even a footstep* inside and tearing it from the inside out. *ANARCHYYY*
An anarch Ventrue is very interesting and Dave Walters play it very well. Thanks to this, although he is very different from Nines, he shares several of his points of view. Power is still his goal but he is not interested in following some old ways of the Camarilla. He is aware of the tendency to betrayal between Kindred but tries to have an open communication with his close ones, they are more than instruments. Maybe because of the not so distant memory that before he was a human, that he loved fame and power but admired loyalty and had loved ones.
It’s said somewhere that there are more Ventrue in the Anarchs than either would like to admit. When you imagine a bunch of young Kindred who like power don’t like waiting their turn over some royal privilege and instead want to prove themselves meritocratically, I think I makes a lot of sense.

He was so good that I screamed at the screen cussing him out for doing my boi Victor like that.
He's amazing.
@@tkschaaf7096 He's not YOUR boi. He's Fiorenza's.
Well I played a Malkavian and I laught at the funny shoes of the Nosferatu tailing me.
"Let me make a note at that"
(aka I love it)
*The Nosferatu spy* "Oh this is gonna be... what is he doing with that garden gnome?"

I'm surprised that Victor didn't give up the information to the other Barons about Abrams being third party related to the Second Inquisition. The whole reason why Victor is Baron of the Valley.
Victor also had to pay for the gaff he did.

Annabelle was embraced because she was the convenient choice for Carver among her friend group who flipped off the authority.
Nines is probably the closest we get to a True Brujah, of course, without the emotional detachment that they have.

I guess we'll see how that plays out, won't we?
B. Dave Walters oh, Baron Temples better make Abrams regret that move! 😉
This is the moment I really see that the anarchs are no different than the Camarilla, just like a prince that dishes out domains and can take it away... For shame. What Abrahams wants to fight for is not freedom, it's his power and control that he doesn't want to relinquish to ANOTHER tyrant.

I really did love this too for the same reason, felt like the days I was dabbling in the occasional LARP scene where it is all like this.

@@thant0s victor deserved it. This WAS a slap on the wrist.
@@FallenL0rd RIGHT? The game isn't over, believe me.
Victor Temple is the only real Anarch in that room. If Anarchs watched a video of that meeting they’d absolutely follow him.
Anarch Ventrue are just built different. They lead from the front. Respect.
I maybe late to the party but my Anarch ass would follow Baron Temple
@@lunar_nightmare0540 undisputed baron of us all
@@Izzifunny here here
I have not seen the rest of Season 2, but logic tells me the prince is not above bending the traditions to the point of failure for his own advantage, thus probably does not lay in friendly terms with Strauss, him being devout to the Camarilla first, and princes second.
pedro7g5 also after the bullshit Abrams pulled in that meeting I hope Victor is plotting his demise after the war.
@@pepethefrog6809
Grantedz mind you, because of Abrams' own mistake.

what a season!!! "sometimes, in order to build.... all you have to do is build."
Victor is quickly becoming my fav character.
The actor playing Nines is so great in this, and Whitney Moore continues to be incredible as Therese! I feel like she has such a perfect grasp on that character!
Therese's cognitive dissonance was showing in this episode. Love it. Love Nines for calling her out. That's why I love him. She plays the victim to cover being ruthless with coterie.
Man this variation of Nines makes so much sense as someone people would rally around, Luis Carazo really did a fantastic job.
I mean, all of the cast does amazing, but I was just really impressed
I was waiting for the shoe to drop on Victor after he essentially declared for the Camarilla. God damn this entire episode had me sweating bullets. Excellent roleplaying from all. Absolutely amazing!
Jason Carl always brings his A Game to every episode, both in terms of creating a scene & inhabiting a role-& his turn as Abrams in this episode really proved that point!
Mark Meer clearly loves doing this so much.
"Hate" chaz, but I can't help loving him (low-key siding with him) just because of Mark's performance.
It's Commander Shepard as a blue-blood asshole vampire-and he does it brilliantly.
Man, that Chaz, right at the end... Got the chance to meet Mark Meer this weekend, honestly a really cool guy to talk to :)
Mark is super nice, nothing at all like the dastardly Chaz! Also an amazingly talented and skilled actor.
@@JasonCarl Indeed he is. Props to you too, incredible storyteller
"Wherever there's an ounce of power to be had, there'll be people dicking each other over. You think the Camarilla invented that?" The Barons' meeting really reminded me of the words of Bertram Tung :D
Man, Nines was so great all around in this. What a bro.
Therese: Can I use auspex
Abrams: sure why not
Loved the episode, Nines was spot on :)
I wonder if the actor had to replay the game to get the character right, we need more of him on the show!
Luis was incredible as Nines, right? And he was great to work with. :)
@@JasonCarl the casting choices on the show are perfect :)
The player, B. Dave Walters, is indeed pretty great in this role!
It’s said somewhere that there are more Ventrue in the Anarchs than either would like to admit. When you imagine a bunch of young Kindred who like power don’t like waiting their turn over some royal privilege and instead want to prove themselves meritocratically, I think I makes a lot of sense.
13:29 Jason brings it when Abrams bares his fangs a little and flexes his intimidation skills. A+
This game has getting me into running Werewolf: the Apocalypse games. I hope you good people at GNS will make a Werewolf: the Apocalypse campaign
I love this idea. :)

I don't say I would fight for many people, but if Nines asked me to fight, I would. Luis Carazo plays a man I would happily follow. Also... yay! Banu Haqim got mentioned! Here's hoping my favorite clan appears
Is it Banu that's remained Independent or did he side with the Camarilla? I know the Set's split (more or less)
@@AoRArchAngel as I recall, the Banu Haqim stayed mostly independent.

It’s weird how this is actually fairly realistic. Kindred aside this feels like a show about people who have baggage and are also a part of an underground society. There’s some emotional realism especially with Chaz being like an abusive boyfriend.
Thank you! Vampire is an RPG about terrible monsters, but all the monsters were human once, and these particular monsters were human not very long ago, so they retain many of their individual issues that they had when they were alive. I'm amazed constantly by the players' ability to make that realistic.
