Funny story. Same happened to me. A car kept coming by house early in the morning and thought they were scoping out to steal my motorcycle and got 4 of my friends with walkie talkies only to find out it was the newspaper delivery lol

Fun fact: years before these two were successful attorneys they were in a rock band together with Clifford 'The Main Man' Main on drums and Charles 'Chuck' Mcgill on guitar/vocals.
Here's a rare clip of them performing....

When you are any company and are putting a commercial on air, you always get legal sign-off. When you are a law firm putting a commercial out - that deserved the response from Cliff.

A lot of people argue in favor of Jimmy bending the laws when they think it is justified. How do you stop someone like Todd from doing the same thing? "Well if my reason is good enough I should be allowed to break some rules without telling anyone."

It’s a great show. I know you can’t monetize it but just watch it for enjoyment. We understand money comes first.

I don’t think so much that the TV commercial was not allowed, Cliff even said that they had done it before, its just that Jimmy wasn’t supposed to have it aired without their approval. Putting their name on the ad means they support it yet they had no idea about it.
Imagine if he did some cheesy unprofessional ad. That could have hurt the reputation of Davis & Main and cost them business or to lose clients.
I think what may have saved him was that the ad was actually very good and not some late night silly ad which is what they probably expected from Jimmy.

I can advise you to watch "Robin good with Kevin Costner" or "the Ghost in the darkness with val Kilmer and Michael Douglas" they are impressive movies.

If you or a loved one has been scammed by Sandpiper. Call Slippin' Jimmy now. ✌️

Jimmy's mistake was the style of the commercial. Davis & Mann is a 'white shoe' law firm with wealthy clients and corporate clients. The commercial was in the style of a personal injury attorney (known as 'ambulance chasers'), which is a much lower tier of a law firm. The commercial tainted the reputation of Davis & Mann.

Meh. I was expecting it to be much worse. The worst you could say about it is that it's kinda cheesy. It wasn't crass or outrageous. The average person would respond to it. The average person wouldn't respond to the dry voiceover with swirly background commercials they'd done before.
Jimmy is in charge of client outreach, yes? He did his job. If I were Jimmy, I wouldn't have apologized.

RE: How Jimmy's ad on TV can ruin the reputation of the law firm. There are different levels of attorneys, on the high end you have the established conservative firms that represent multi-millionaires and their corporations. On the other end, you have low level hustling con artists (like Saul) who pursue quick bucks through accident scam claims. The low-level attorneys could not begin to handle the more complex issues of a major corporation. These cheap hustling ads on TV are a sure sign of low-level lawyers and could really blemish the reputation of the firm.

Mike happens to know how much killing another person kills you, too. Your focus on money and risk is silly. Think about life and death.

I side with Jimmy on the commercial.
The worst you could say about it is that it's kind of cheesy. It wasn't crass or outrageous. It ran *once* and it WORKED!
Sure, if probably *should* have asked the partners first, but he also knew they would most likely play it too safe, and what's the point of producing and airing a commercial that doesn't actually catch the viewer's attention? They hired him, on partner track, he's clearly proven he's competent, and he was supposed to be in charge of client outreach, yes? So he's doing his job! They can get mad all they want but if I were Jimmy, I wouldn't have apologized.
