    It's tough not to love Ariens. I have a 23 year old 6-24. We live in Erie, Pa, so we move a lot of snow most years. This old girl has always started and moved lots of snow (although when it's cold, I have to use the electric start - won't catch with the recoil). I had to replace the electric start maybe 8 years ago, and we sanded, scraped and painted it this past summer (I thought about sandblasting and going the whole nine yards but didn't). We finally changed the belts and friction disc (after 22 years!) and added heated handgrips (thank god, but had to disconnect the light - not enough amps for both) and the old thing will probably run another 20 years.....

      @floobertuber 10 місяців тому +1

      Just a thought, have you ever removed your recoil assembly and lubricated the "dogs" that fly out to engage the engine when you pull the starter rope? I had to do that to my older (1985) ST824 back in the day because they would eventually gum up and not want to flip out and engage the shaft. After a good cleaning and lubricating they were right back to working well.

    Another great video. My personal machine is a 2013 Ariens Pro 28. The duel belt auger pully set up is the best update Ariens had made on their machines about 15 years ago. My machine is still running its original belts. I also have a small snow removal business currently running a 2004 pro 32, 2018 pro 32, and 2022 Kraken to operate it. The '04 pro 32 would eat 2 belts a year because of it's single pully set up. The 2018 and the Kraken are also still on the original belts.

    Thank you, sir! I started watching your channel this winter & I have learned A LOT. I have this similar snow thrower (Ariens 926LE) it is 20+ yrs old BUT it is still in GREAT SHAPE. But it's time to REDUE LOTS of stuff on this blower. THANKS TO YOU, I'm confident I will be able to replace MUCH of the parts that need replacing. Both belts, scrapper bar as well as replacing the shoes W/ the Armor shoes. I also have been scrapping the sidewalks to the point the bolt heads are wearing away! I'll be having to drill them out & replacing all 5 bolts as well as new scrapper bar. Then setting the shoes correctly on this blower. Spring 2024 CAN'T GET HERE SOON ENOUGH. Thanks for all your help. As a man NOW 55 years old & on disability because of MS, I'm trying to keep all cost down as best as possible. You ARE HELPING ME DO JUST THAT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR HELPING ME & MY FAMILY OUT. On a good warm day here in PA 55 degrees or higher, I'll be doing what needs to be done. Any suggestions with the shot directional that wonders ALWAYS to the right?! All the parts under that plastic cover look fine, but one can turn the shoot to the right whenever you want, but it stays locked to the right. I have to move the shoot back and I find myself spending a lot of time holding that lever while blowing the snow other than to the right?! Thanks again!

      Hey glover! Glad to hear these videos are helping you out and saving you money! Appreciate your kind words as well! I think I know the reason to you chute wandering. There is a black cover that attaches to you chute near the deflector. Underneath the black cover on the underside is a bolt and spring. Tighten that bolt up and the chute should be under better control. Hope this helps. Thanks for being a cool fan!

    I suppose it's debatable, the conversion of CC"s to HPower. So the never that cones up most
    frequently is 25 CC"s = 1 Horsepower. So if ir correct a 356 cc engine equates to 14 HP. WHO TO BLAME FOR THIS ? ..Blame the manufacturers. They were un error for most of this and overstated what the Hp was. So itches changed to Ccs. Thought I would share. Great Vid as always

Ur more than welcome to do a before, during (when/if possible) & after snowfall review. I'm not interested in anything besides getting a video out there of this model that I personally have not found on UA-cam yet. At least a better one than the one I posted yesterday on my channel, posted Nov 4, 2023. I tried to comment this offer yesterday but I'm not sure if I forgot to send it or if it was deleted.

    JB, I noticed something interesting about these larger AX engines - the ones with a carburator, not the EFI ones. When you throttled it up, it seemed like there's "idle" speed, and "full RPMs" ... and nothing in between. Does that accurately describe what I saw/heard?
    This year, I got a new Platinum SHO 24 (369cc), and that's precisely what mine does. It's either idling, or it's FULL ON. There aren't any middling RPM speeds in between, despite the fact the dial can be moved throughout a range that's almost a quarter turn. I'd read somewhere that this is normal, and just how these engines work... but dang, does that ever seem weird to me. What do you think?

    • @apexiumim2741
      @apexiumim2741 10 місяців тому +1

      I’ve got the exact same machine. Currently doing rust proofing as per JB’s instructions. Also greasing shafts, sprockets and chains. I’ve read/seen problems with the type of steel used on newer models (cheep steel that is) compared to years past.
      My unit has 6 hours from last season. I’ll report what I see/find once the belly pan is open.

      @floobertuber 10 місяців тому +1

      @@apexiumim2741 Cool, I look forward to hearing what you find. I'd heard about the rust issues on the Platinum SHO as well... although they seem to be limited in scope. I guess we won't know, until we know.
      Do you have any feedback to offer on my range-of-RPMs question above? Does yours run at any speeds between idle and max RPMs?
