As a Canadian, this tournament has been humbling to say the least. I hope it inspires us to push ourselves harder. To be the best, you must beat the best.
You were up against the best sports team in history in this particular instance, not just the best rugby team, so I wouldn't take it it to heart. Plus a lot of the Canadian team aren't even pros. They stopped them from scoring in the last 20 min also, which most top tier teams don't even manage. Hopefully being on the world stage helps create more interest in the game there. Look at what Japan did, beating the world number 2 (Ireland) the other day. At the 1995 World Cup the All Blacks put 145 points on them... :D
Barrett's try saving chase down tackle on Nelson was also a thing of beauty to watch, just as was Mo'ungas tackle on Colby in the South Africa game. Shucks gotta Love this All Blacks team!
Up yours mate, from canada . Check out the squad captained by gareth rees who punched up a very dirty south african squad.believe me canadians are polite until aroused to anger.
@Spencer Courtis all players in the all blacks are nz citizens. Most of the team was born here was well. Take a look at japans team, how many of them were born in Japan?
I thought Brad Weber had a great game, he has real speed on his pass and runs great support lines (as most halfbacks should). He's also got wheels, more top speed than Aaron or TJ. Sevu Reece and George Bridge won't be losing much sleep tonight, don't think Ioane did enough to warrant his 11 jersey back in more important games. Mo'unga and SBW were awesome, I honestly don't think we will win the RWC if Mo'unga gets injured, the Beau'unga gameplan is critical to our success.
Canada didn't give up and played a well disciplined game of footy. To face the AB's would have been a difficult pill to swallow but, these guys worked hard for the loss.
The commentator is Sean Maloney of Fox Sports Australia (with Andy Mehrtens). Aussie commentators are def. the best ones, they can be biased towards Wallabies but no broadcasters reach that level of passion.
Despite being shut out, Canada's best ruggers showed character, perserverence and sportsmanship. Never observed a more ruthless bunch as the AB's on the tackle pile. If you have to punish your vulnerable opponents this way, you really deserve to be # 1.
63-0 and with better ball retention it could have been 90-0 the way the All Blacks were rolling. Very confident All Blacks will slap whoever they face in the quarters by a wide margin.
you never know, either Japan or Ireland have the potential to face the All Blacks with some problems. But yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to beat them when the time comes
Completely agree....at least 5 tries gone begging if it weren't for better ball handling (albeit in very humid conditions). I feel for Namibia this weekend because I guarantee the All Blacks also believe they left a few tries out there. Ruthless is what the world will see this weekend from the All Blacks vs Namibia & the scoreline won't be pretty at all...good luck to both teams anyway!!!
Canada good job on playing hard against the best rugby team in the world. Now I want to watch NZ play Canada at Ice Hockey, results would be swapped! Good luck NZ on winning the cup, cheers from Canada!
It wouldnt of made a difference in the end, but in the first twenty mins i thought the ref was pretty poor, especially if you were Canada, that pass from Perenara to Todd leading up to Jordies try was a shocker, there was another real obvious one too and some infringements around the ruck areas that he probably should of pulled us up on. It irritates me when refs cant keep up or arent up to the occasion, especially when its us that gets the benefit, it gives the Northern Hemisphere guys more ammunition about how we get preferential treatment from the Refs and best cheats on the ground, and thats why we win all the time, as opposed to the fact that we are the most skillful as a whole, in my biased opinion of course haha
Davy Franck. That wasn't Ian's question. He's not talking about the conversion. He wants to know why a penalty try was given since no foul play occurred at all. The Canada 9 contested the ball fair and square.
I am not fully sure, i would suggest it is how far around the scrum he is before Read takes the ball off, perhaps even touching him first. No idea other than that.
Gotta say, Canada ran themselves off their feet, but more impressive is they ran the all blacks off their feet. The ABs all hands on knees at the end is not something you see very often. Cracking effort from Canada

Hi guys, im trying to learn the rugby rules, can anyone explain to me why the referee gave a penalty to canada (i believe) and didn't let them to continue their attack at 5:19 mins ?
Mehdi Belila : At 4:39 the ref signals a penalty to Canada for a no arms tackle. He lets play continue to see if Canada can still gain an advantage from their position. At 5:19 he decides that Canada have not made any progress so he stops the advantage call and goes back to where the penalty spot is for the illegal tackle. Refs often do this, called playing advantage, if they think that stopping the game for the penalty might also penalise the attacking side by stopping their momentum, especially close to the try line. They let play go on for a few seconds to see what develops.
