You’re right about them growing fast… I bought one from IKEA like knee high and now 6 months later it’s already taller than me and outgrew it’s pot like 2 times!
Hi Rose, Amazing, right? Here is our video about how to prune Bird of Paradise plants (if you want to keep its shape under control 😀) bit.ly/30JifQZ May your plant grow happy and healthy! 🌱
I'm definitely not a native English speaker but because your nice pronunciation I understood everything from this video (and this is rarely situation for me). Thank you for great English and plant lessons. Phoebe is absolutely amazing. I'll stay for longer with you 💚
Thank You so much for all your valuable tips on how to take care of my Bird of paradise. I live in New Jersey USA and She was growing so nicely outside for the Summer! As it began to get cold, I brought her inside and placed her too close to a radiator in my corridor!! Her leaves began to curl and dry up. I removed her immediately, I checked soil, and of course it's dry!! Thanks again🙏🏾 hopefully she'll recover soon.

Fantastic!!!!! This was the single most helpful video about my BOP. I'm going to do all the things you've mentioned since my plant is just drooping like crazy.
I found a sad little BoP with a "free" sign on it next to a dumpster this spring. Literally just left it outside all summer and kept it watered, looks great now! Been wondering where to go from here though, thanks for the longer format video covering everything. We bought one of these plants today 25th October 2024... thank you for your helpful information... I started to buy indoor plants this August and have quite a number now .. I've been on a fast learning curve and you have given me good solid advice regards our today's purchase ... the plant stands at my shoulder height and I can only imagine how it will look over the next few years .. I'm not new to plants as I have a garden full of roses and herbaceous planting but indoor plants are ... once again thank you .. and your plant is a beauty. ...

It sounds like you have a beautiful garden outside as well! I'm glad the information has been helpful to you. Green Cheers & Enjoy your plant journey!
I loved your video. I've been a plant freak all my life. People (mainly my kids) give me their broken down terrible plants for me to fix. Now I have a son whose partner tries, but just doesn't do the trick, so I'm trying to wrestle it away so I can nurse her back to health. She's got everything bad, so watching your video gave me super good thoughts as to what to do exactly as ive never cared for a bird of paradise plant. Thank you !!

Thank you for your very informative video! I got my bird of paradise from A group of office co-workers 2 years ago after my mother died. I've had it in this excellent spot with the indirect light and it has been flourishing! It has grown tremendously and toppled over one time because of the weight of the leaves. I'm glad I found your video on how to put this particular type of plant, I definitely will be needing the stakes for the support.
I just love everything about this video! You speak so well and so calmly. You also answered so many of the questions I had as a new BOP owner. I just got mine yesterday, can't wait to see her grow as big as Phoebe! I'll be growing her outdoors, hopefully she adjusts really well :D

I have one that is 20 years old and I've been limping it along. Taking your advice and tips I'm excited to get her back up in shape, feed and grow it huge. It's already bigger than the one in the video but seems to not have many leaves. Food and proper watering from here on out!
Hi! Thank you for watching! Wow! 20 years! Amazing! Make sure your Bird of Paradise plant is in a specious enough pot so its roots are happy and strong to produce new leaves for you. YES to proper watering and feeding! Green Cheers!
My birds are healthy but have not grown any new leaves since I bought it a few months ago. I think I rushed too fast and put them in too large of a pot. I recently fed them and added a humidifier will wait and see A friend recommended this video…awesome tips 🥰
Hi! Congrats on your new plant! Please thank your friend for the recommendation. Make sure the plant has a good light. Do not water unless the soil is dry enough. Get Soil Meter bit.ly/2yuXVpc to test the soil before watering to make sure the plant is ready. Meter reading should be down to zone 4-5 before watering. Green Luck! 🌱
I just bought a bird of paradise plant, one of 10 dying plants, from someone on fb marketplace. It was a mercy mission lol. I love a challenge. I didn't even know what type of plant it was or how to take care of it so l'm now learning all l can so l can get it to it's full potential. It currently has 2 leaves and one is hunched sideways quite a bit so l will look into straightening it and giving it some support. Thank you so much for all this info, l feel a little more confident now.

Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you show us and tell how to care for our Strelitzia plants I have a medium size one and I found you so knowledgeable and helpful and very very easy to learn from. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too. ❤❤❤
Beautiful transformation Juliette, without your help Phoebe would have needed to move into her own apartment soon. What are the best propagation methods, will cuttings root?
Hi Robert, 😀😀😀 If you have multiple stems, you can separate them and pot each in an individual pot. Pruning roots is ok! The plant will go into shock after pruning/repotting but will recover and stabilize. When pruning roots (if needed) make sure to use sharp tools and clean with rubbing alcohol before using. Green Luck, and thank you for watching! 🌱
Hi Juliette! I love it when you post stuff about the Bird of Paradise! It's my favorite plant ever! I have about 5 of them ranging from height & sizes! Please post more about the bird of paradise please!!
Oh wow! This is great!!! I do have the playlist dedicated to these beauties: ua-cam.com/play/PLxxTfYP_hEvAmiZCJ9XxpoNn1G7l7YV6T.html Thank you for watching! 🌱
Just found this channel! So excited...I started my plant journey at the start of the pandemic. I just love how you show and tell how to care for my plant babies! New subscriber here!!
Excellent video. I had a big BOP plant and experienced everything that you talked about throughout the plant's life. Eventually my BOP got too big for our apartment and we donated it to our high-rise building, where it lived for some time until it died from cold temperatures due to an HVAC winter problem. I am always tempted to get another BOP. I will name it this time, if I do.😁
Great to have found you channel Julia! Could have saved me a lot of time and effort, if I had seen your fantastic video before. Season's greetings from Paris!
Should I use the spray leaf shine? I just love my bird of paradise! Her name is Corinado. We saw so many on Corinado Island. She is so happy in our large upstairs bathroom. The window is almost floor to ceiling. This window is abscure glass. Lots of humidity and I can give her a shower every 3 months. I really appreciate you showing the trimming the edges. I will do this today. What a great video. Her pot size must be perfect. I am going to watch this video again and your others. I need to get a soil monitor today. Again great video Thank you 😊
Hi! You may use the leaf shine spray once in a while. I do not recommend to use it often. Sounds like your Bird Of Paradise plant is in the perfect spot and well taken care of. 👏 May your plant grow happy and healthy! Green Cheers & Thank you for watching 🪴
🙋🏾♀️Hi Juliette! I only have one Bird of Paradise and it's doing Fantastic mostly because when you post about Bird of Paradise I follow your instructions to the letter!! Thanks!🍃🌱🌿💚💚
Mine is popping up with a new leaf. And the fact true newest leaves are always the biggest MAKES MY LITTLE HEART SO HAPPY 😭 this will be my first winter with her so I'm really hoping we can keep her alive. With humidity and shear desperation
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for sharing. Sounds like your plant is very happy under your care! To help your plant to go through the winter, get a humidifier. It is very good for your skin as well :) Green Luck, and thank you for watching! 🌱
Hi Melissa, Thank you for watching 🌱 Glad you got some information and tips from our video. List your questions here. I am sure I or our viewers can help with the questions you have.
I always wanted to have one of these but never knew exactly how to care for it. Now I definitely consider buying one from my koi green house. Thanks for all the informations about BOP.
Hi Anna, Glad the video is helpful and you feel more confident. Go for it! Treat yourself and get a Bird of Paradise Plant! Green Cheers! Thank you for watching 🌱
I’m having the issue with the leaves not entirely opening so I appreciate the tips and will get right to it after work today! Also, I had mine out in full sun last summer and the leave’s curled up! I couldn’t understand it bc I’m used to seeing these plants around in PR with no issues under full sun, but the watering makes sense so I will keep an eye on that this Summer, ty!
Hi Myriam, Thank you for watching 🌱 1. Bird of Paradise plants that spend winter indoors are not as hardy compared to plants that grow outdoors all year around. When moving your plant outdoors for the summer, it is best to place it in a shady location outside first for a few days, then move the plant to a partially sunny location for a few weeks before finally settling it under a full sun exposure. *** I would recommend to keep your Bird Of Paradise in a partially sunny or shady location during summer times. 2. Leaves might not fully open if the plant is not getting enough light, if it is root-bound, over or under watered, lacks nutrients or due to low humidity. *** You may also take a moist soft cloth and wipe an unopened leaf with it to help it to unfurl. Green Cheers and May your plant grow happy and healthy!
First of all, I appreciate how you answer all of the comments. Second, I know this is a dumb question, but when adding a humidifier, do you use cold or warm mist?
Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Both types of humidifiers are suitable for plants, and the choice between warm and cool mist comes down to personal preference. *** Cool mist humidifiers are more electrically efficient and can help keep your electric bill down :) Green Cheers!

Beautiful transformation Juliette, without your help Phoebe would have needed to move into her own apartment soon. What are the best propagation methods, will cuttings root?
Hi Robert,
😀😀😀
If you have multiple stems, you can separate them and pot each in an individual pot. Pruning roots is ok! The plant will go into shock after pruning/repotting but will recover and stabilize.
When pruning roots (if needed) make sure to use sharp tools and clean with rubbing alcohol before using.
Green Luck, and thank you for watching! 🌱

Glad you enjoy it! Thank you for watching 🌱
I will name it this time, if I do.😁
Hi Arne,
Thank you for sharing the story about your Bird of Paradise. 🌱
What name do you think the new plant will get?
@@Mycityplants Dauphin, because BOPs always remind me of beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal clear ocean waters.
This is a very pretty name for a Bird of Paradise 🌱🌱🌱
Hope you get it soon. Green Cheers!
YOU ROCK YOUR THE BEST! EXPLAIN SO WELL!

May your plant grow happy and healthy!

Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for sharing. Sounds like your plant is very happy under your care! To help your plant to go through the winter, get a humidifier.
It is very good for your skin as well :)

Hi Myriam,
Thank you for watching 🌱
BOF LOVE Semi-hydro! (Hydroton / Leca / Clay pellets) - I have had a regular and a Nicolai in that for about 2 years now and they are thriving!

*** Cool mist humidifiers are more electrically efficient and can help keep your electric bill down :)
