Slippery Sam... the bike that was lost into a pile of melted alloy with a few bits of steel poking out.... but miraculously came back from the dead in perfect condition with all the original parts in tact... and yet isn't a replica. A miracle if there ever was one...A bit like the Johnny Allen world speed record streamliner... another miracle..
It was a race bike rebuilt many times, It had a least 2 frames. It was rebuilt from it's racing spares by it's original builders using what was left after the fire.I believe the original cases were used. There is an article on the rebuild which might be online with the parts used and what was salvaged
I read somewhere that there were around 8 slippery sams. Saw one in the motorcycle museum on the Norton site a few months before the fire. I still don't understand how they were able to admit the public with seemingly no fire protection whatsoever. All those wonderful machines . Our heritage gone.
I had a T150v and a .Merredin Bonneville, tiger and a TSS750 and a Hinckley 900 and 1200, there is nothing in production by Triumph now that I would own, recently rode a Bonneville and almost fell asleep, boring as bat shit, and a 1979 Bonneville would eat it in handling, match it in exceleration and top speed, Triumph don't need my custom!
Give me that old time Trident gospel music over the whine of a modern multi anytime.
Gimme that Old Time Trident,
Gimme that Old Time Trident,
Gimme that Old Time Trident,
It's good enough for me...
;-)

It was always a " Triggers broom" most racing motorcycles are.
