great video and I just hiked up yesterday to Deeks Lake sept. 3rd 2021 to meet my friend coming thru from the cypress parking lot. She mentioned she saw that big black bear eating berries near the trail around Brunswick Lake. You got incredible footage of that bear especially looking at you when you came around the corner. He doesn't seem interested in doing anything with the people and just wants his berries.
This video is excellent and you have a really great sense of humour.
That's a challenging trail and you handled it like a champ

Aw thanks for sharing - your friend met the bear!! Amazing. Ya he seems harmless, but still want to be cautious. Such a beautiful trail!! Deeks Lake is beautiful too :)

Thank you for posting your amazing trek experience Sarah. How doable is this in one day? We just did the panorama ridge in one day to give you a prospective.

I'd like to say it's very doable in one day - one FULL day that is, bring headlamps, lots food, plan to refill water at magnesium meadows (need a filter). For comparison, I did Panorama in about 6-6.5 hours... And HSCT took about twice that (13 hours). However it was amazing how many people we passed who seemed very impressed we were doing it all in one day (as if that's not the norm)!!

@@runfastersarah thank you so much. Will definitely give it ago. In your 13 hrs, did you do all the summits? Ie the lions, Harvey, Brunswick?

How can you do HSCT with zero idea of what to do around a bear?!?! Educate yourself please so you don't teach people improper wilderness tactics.
