If you are watching this and want more info, see a recent video on Arizona Ghostriders. The town was bought and is in the process of being restored. Santee also gives a list of every film and tv show filmed there .
going back to 1982 I was lucky enough to shoot over a dozen television and film projects at Mescal - one of my all time favorite locations. thank you so much for posting this.
I love History. I also love Western Movies. They just don't make them like they used too. Would you care to share some of the names of the film projects that you shot there, Sir. Thank you so much.
@@RobertGlazier Desperado: Badlands Justice (MOW), Desperado: The Outlaw Wars (MOW), Posse, Gunsmoke: One Man's Justice (MOW), The Young Riders (ABC)...and a forgettable one or two. This video shows that it is great disrepair, although the roofs look new. Tombstone and the Quick and the Dead provided a big face lift and new construction. The Gunsmoke MOW rolled in between these, IIRC, but very little was done in the town itself. A farmhouse on the property was used a good bit. Old Tucson was used more than Mescal for a town on the Gunsmoke.
I actually save this video, so I can play my bass guitar along with the music ... and relive the past of many of my favorite westerns from the last 40 years that were filmed here... Of course, I live not far away ... So ... 👍🤠
We were there for the 25th anniversary of the movie Tombstone. Lots of great movie history. The Quick and the Dead, Tombstone, Outlaw Josey Wales to name a few. All of the buildings have complete interiors and many scenes were filmed inside as well as out. The sad thing is that it is in very rough shape. I believe they have a full time caretaker and have done some repairs, but as dry as it gets out there, I’m sure fire is possible. This is a special place and I hope they can preserve it, or it will go the way of most of the real ghost towns in the area. Great perspective with the drone.
There is work on the way to fix up and preserve this place. It's all volunteer work. They need all the help that they can get. Please support the cause, and thanks for watching.
Grew up watching black and white cowboy movies. Still watching cowboy movies in color this time around. Love both. Sometimes I prefer the black and white as it makes it feel like I'm back home again. What is the music playing? I like it.
Hello Matt. Sorry I should do a better job with posting my videos. A lot of Westerns were filmed here, including Quick & The Dead starring Gene Hackman, Russell Crow, and Sharon Stone, and Tombstone starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. I recorded this about two years ago with my Mavic one. I got permission after they closed from the tour guide.
Was just there! Awesome place to explore.
Thanks
@@RobertGlazier anytime. Was out there for the 30th anniversary of Tombstone!
Nicely filmed 👍👍👍 the studio looks great.
