This was literally my introduction to video gaming as a small child watching my dad play. Heck, I was scared of LeChuck - that's how wee I was. Still super awesome to this day. People in a 100 years will still play it, just like some people listen to classical music.
You need to play this series. It is one of the greats. Not hard to set up for free. Check out some online guides using the SCUMM engine. You won't regret it.

I came home in 2001 when I was 12 to find my dad had been through my room and threw away my computer and all the games, because they were "old!" I went berserk and have never fully got over my loss. In all these years he hasn't apologised once for throwing away my all time favourite possession ever!!!! Even after 22 years I haven't found a replacement, boy do I miss playing my old PC! ) ':
Yeah, I used to watch my dad play Monkey Island when I was a little kid and now I play Sea of Thieves with my nephew and he loves the Monkey Island stuff, especially the shanty. It's great to see how far video-gaming has come over the decades. Now it's a bonafide intergenerationally shared piece of culture.
I just Wonder: Why was a Video of the Roland Mt32 Midi Version of the monkey Island Soundtrack uploaded to a spanish Playstation affiliate Channel 13 years ago, and why is it still online???

For some reason the more modern takes of this went with more pan flute and less xylophone/dulcimer sounds. The original is the way to go.
