I had the same kind of call once as an EMT. A kid had some bs story about how someone shot him in leg and the cops were not buying it lol they knew he accidentally shot himself but was lying for some reason lol.
My brother was an EMT and this guy shot himself in the foot and claimed he got hit by a drive by. Since the wound was straight on top of his foot he had to claim the bullet went threw the bottom of his foot and exited the top while he was running. LoL He was a felon so he wasn't suppose to own a gun too.
Might of been a stolen gun or something they would rather say they got robbed and get rid of the gun

So, he didn’t get arrested for shooting himself or firing a firearm in the city that’s definitely illegal
Different places handle negligent discharge in different ways. Usually there's only serious trouble if you hurt someone else, damage someone else's property, or have a "reckless" discharge like you're swinging the gun around in a group of people and it goes off. If all you do is shoot yourself or kill the ceiling in your bedroom, you probably won't catch a charge. If you do, it'll probably be a misdemeanor

I think it was an accident and he didn’t want to admit to shooting himself with a gun he wasn’t supposed to have. He was probably scared he could bleed internally or something and decided to call the ambulance and make up a story.

Those cops were pretty good about the whole thing. But yeah, usually when somebody shoots themself theyre a little calmer when you show up. I think it has to do with fewer questions like,"why did this happen to me?!" When you know you shot yourself theres no fear of the "other" guy coming back

There is some editing/cutting between reality and the show, and some more between the show and the youtube vid.
