  • For the first time in years The Avengers have assembled for an incredible celebration rather than an interstellar confrontation. We give viewers an unforgettable glimpse into the reunion of the original Avengers cast as they team up once more for a noble cause: The Lakota Project. Earth's Mightiest Heroes join together to record and dub the original “The Avengers” in the native Lakota language, streaming now on Disney+, and we're along for the journey.
Mark Ruffalo and members of the initiative sit down with us to share the story of this amazing reunion and its very special cause. From the recording studio to the big screen, we explore this important cinematic milestone and celebrate the release that took over 15 months, 62 Lakota-Dakota language speakers, and the original Avengers team to come together and Assemble!

Oh, wow! The original six Avengers dubbed themselves? I would love to see this with other movies and languages, like Shang-Chi in Chinese.

As a Native person myself I think this is AWESOME!!! I had no idea they got the band back together for this. Not many actors would do that, huge props and respect to them!

Finally, Lakota speaking people will be able to watch and understand Avengers 12 years later.

Can I say, this is what the National Library is for. I don’t care if people forget The Avemgers. We can never forget the Lakota.

Wow. Great! That’s voice acting. So many times dubs are just reading lines and it sounds so fake. This had intensity and emotion.

I can't deal with dubbed or subtitled movies because it's way too distracting for me (a tad too much brain damage is limiting), but that isn't stopping me for fully appreciating the effort it took to dub an entire movie so that it can be enjoyed by others. That the whole cast reunited for this project is astounding given their schedules. I'm happy the Lakota people will be able to hear their language that just a few decades ago was denied to them. What a wonderful project.

This will be passed down through generations of Lakota people to enjoy with family and friends.

This is pretty touching, I remember that I did a thesis paper for my class about preserving lost and endangered languages in any way we can, glad this is one way of doing it.

This is cool! I also really loved when they did Kahori's episode of 'What If?' in the Kanien'kéha language because I was learning about that in school at the time. I know just from the few people that I talked to, that a lot of people in that community appreciated it. I'm sure it's the same for the Lakota! I think we should be doing everything we can to help save these endangered languages and put them more in the spotlight so that new generations of kids in these communities can have cool stuff to watch in their own language.
