The hardest part about brazing is getting over overthinking it. Soon as you get past the fear of messing something up it’s smooth sailing at least that’s how it went for me 😂
That's the truth!
You are correct. As soon as that butter flows you know it 😜
Do you braze in HVAC? Cause that's where I get worried. Even with wet rag brazing so close to components that can't get hot.
Passed my journeyman's exam this week, thanks for your help with that, and all the teaching you do here!
Great job! Keep it up and never stop learning!
My fucking boy congrats my fellow brother
Everyone's a critic Roger. As long as the joint doesn't leak that's really all that matters at the end of the day
Not a fan of that oxidizing flame, but I guess if your in a hurry. I've always found that it's much easier to repair leaks, do touch-ups and recap joints when your pipe and fittings aren't cooked to holy hell. As a shipyard pipefitter, appearance and cleanliness is important too.
i like to get the pipe and the fitting glowing red hot then add the filler rod. quick and easy it lets you get all your work done with plenty of time for screwing off.
Roger in Europe that’s called cupotechnic.Brazing is with brass rods and a powder flux.We used the silver solder rods for that but your right it’s a lifetime job.
What type of silver are you using? How do you feel about staybrite?
Those braze joints look good. Everyone has their own preference on what to use. I liked a #2 tip for braze and air/ace tip for soldering. I didn't have a need for a rosebud tip. Thanks for sharing.
Right on, thanks for sharing Brad
i use a mini oxygen acetylene rig to braze and med gas,and fitting should be glowing while you push your unbent brazing rod into cup for full pen and yes you purge it ,its more of a weld than soldier and i clean fittings too that packing oil will mess up a joint in heartbeat
Nice
Great job!
Literally started to learn brazing today in my HVAC apprenticeship class. What are the odds of that? 😬
The mustache knows all
@@RogerWakefield 😱
I only use the rose bud for 2in and up pipe sizes. The turbo torch takes too long. For brazing smaller pipe 1/2 to 1in I'll use a welding tip, MAP gas, or a Tutbo torch.
Turbo torche #1
Does brazing get into the joint? Can you cut it in half and see how far the filler goes in?
Love the out takes lmao
I have a leak from the sink drain under a raised foundation. Any videos or advice?
braze it
When are you going to do an update for the following legislation, do you think 4 year mater will be lower to 1 year? Plz let us know 🙏
Looks good from my house
Love to hear it
What is the difference between brazing and soldering?
The temperature needed to melt the rod.
From what I can tell, brazing last longer and is better against vibrations...
You can braze into existing lines without a fitting
Pressure it can withstand
A solder joint is actually a stronger joint
Heat resistance. Solder melts at a much lower temperature than brazing rod
@@destinylags6863 just curious how solder is stronger than brazing? I would never want to solder a joint inside a big ac unit it just wouldn't feel safe to me.
It no brainer for amateur like me to get turbotorch because even expert like you still struggling with rose torch. Also I do refrigeration repair in the restaurant and turning on/off oxytorch really piss off many staffers.
Rosebud on bigger pipe usually anything 2” and above
I use a 14 tip on anything up to 2” but maybe it’s the camera but none of those joints
Turbo torch is usually good up until about 2 inch pipe after that it gets very difficult and that’s where a rosebud would be easier
And don’t forget we’re hearing protection with these they are very loud
📢 You got that right 📢
Gotta break out that Oxy-Acetylene torch for the bigger HVAC lines.
I see you haven’t been introduced to the A-36 tip
My welds are fucked up and i do up to 2 inch hard copper but ive never had a LEAK
I am more concern about the flames around the table.
Table is good 💪
You know that safe has some heavy artillery inside it
sure does
@@RogerWakefield hell yeah!
"I don't know that it does." That's a special kind of integrity, there.
Roger you ever worked a job where it was so far away from home your accommodation and transport was paid?
Teach me Rodger
Aight lets go
You can't cool a joint fast. You have to wait for it to cool down on it own. Think about it as putting water on ice.... the ice has fractures in them when you do that, so will your solder or brazing.
In my opinion that is way too much flame on the oxy rosebud. Just a waste of gas and harder to control cherry red heat.
U roger are a texas jcat what we call u girls in california
I'm no plumber but
Why not use nuts and the rings
Fire inside a house gives me the creeps
points to non existent video tag at end lol
Fixed it...thanks for pointing that out 👍
@@RogerWakefield no problem!
you failed right off rip and your union and med gas trained🙄 whats first thing they tell you dont do ? Do not bend your brazzing rod especially on med gas
Roger aren't you the one who used almost a whole rod on a 3/4 joint.. wouldn't be calling you an expert, probably a hack at best
My joints don’t have leaks 🤷🏻♂️
Same here just so happens that I only use a small amount cause thats all a brazed joint needs
Pretty low of you to call Roger a hack. Also I want proof of your amazing brazing skills on a UA-cam video. Show us how amazing you are! I highly doubt you even have a torch just a typical UA-cam bully.
Relax pretty boy, been a pipe fitter and a welder for way to long, and before that a plumber. So typically I can definitely call out a hack when I see one. And ps at this point a torch is just an extension of my body as far as I'm concerned
Why are people still brazing? Why not just pex it
Braze is better than pex 🤷🏻♂️
Depends on the type of building and fire code/plumbing code in your area, brazed soft copper can be buried for water in my area but pex can't have any fittings in it. At a couple hundred bucks per 4" fitting tee drilling and brazing gets economical really quickly too.
Because all medical gas must be brazed? Wait until you hear about refrigeration 🤣
