    I've added these because the Wilcox Family Archives versions have been taken down by some random publishing company. It is unfortunate but that is the world we live in. The rest of the books will be posted soon! I already have them all, just need to edit and upload.

    Listening to this is like hearing a sermon, only it's at a fun church I would actually want to go to. None of the parishioners believe any of it's real but that doesn't stop them enjoying themselves. Also, they don't require you go knocking on anyone's door and annoying the occupants at inopportune moments in service of promulgating their nonsense.

    Thank you so much for uploading these!!! I was gifted two CDs by an old friend over 20 years ago with super condensed audio files of these books read by Douglas Adams himself, and can't seem to find any of those files on the hard drives I backed them up to..! I listened to these books dozens if not hundreds of times in school, and was heartbroken when I found out they aren't available for purchase anymore..! (A thousand times thank you...!) :-)

    I'm ancient enough that I heard the first radio adaptation broadcast in 1978. I still have that on cassette tape! Utterly brilliant writing. I also still have my typewritten programme from the stage play at the Rainbow. That was beyond mad, still pretty much dress rehearsal, but plenty of opportunities for hilarious audience participation. My only regret was that after the show I didn't have the budget to buy a circuit board badge that occasionally flashed 42.

      I never saw it in any of the 4 secondary schools I went to, but that's because it extolled the fun of getting drunk and made references to sex. England in the 80's. Or maybe that was the official reason and it was really because if a copy has appeared someone would have promptly nicked it. Also, school libraries did focus on the sort of books school wanted you to read, the fun books they knew you'd read anyway. Things have changed,I know. But reading it FOR school??? Just wrong..And who the hell is too lazy to read a book like this for homework 🤦

      Adams always did that poor Android dirty, right up to the end. Although I did have to change my shorts from laughing at that final message carved into the Mountainside by the Creator of All.
      😂 good times that five book Trilogy was. In spite of his atheism, I hope Mr Douglas Adams was wrong and he's sitting by God's side making him laugh uncontrollably for eternity.

      @BurnDoubt Adam's was an atheist because he was rational and a materialist who understood the concepts of critical thinking and reality. He isn't sitting next to any god because gods are a man-made fiction, and he's dead, BUT he will be remembered for centuries to come, at the very least. His literature satirizes socioeconomics (capitalism) and woowoo mystical thinking almost perfectly.

    • @jakesmerth1919

      @gwynbleidd1917 literally cannot prove absolutely that there's no God. What you have is an opinion that you feel is more right than everyone else's. Of course, you'll reply with all kinds of factual bullshit, but at the end of the day, your belief is still an opinion.

      @gwynbleidd1917 29 днів тому +1

      @jakesmerth1919 ah yes, I can't prove an unfalsifiable and all that. It's very, very, very clever of you to believe in something that there's literally zero evidence of. Also, at the end of the day, my "belief" isn't an option because I don't believe in fairytales.
