There was also the ' hidden track' that was basically track zero, hidden before the first cd track. You had to play the first track for 1 or 2 seconds and hit and hold the rewind button so it would go back beyond the first track. I remember Soulwax had an album with a track hidden like that
Looking forward to the next album and see your reactions to Flaming Pie. Back to his best (was done after the Beatles anthology project). Only 2 songs I don’t like much, but think you will like them due to the guitars.
Love this track. Must do the B sides “Big boys bickering (a banned song“, “long leather coat” and “kick around no more”. Excellent songs not on the album!!!
Sometimes Paul does use nonsense lyrics but sometimes his lyrics have a reference to something in literature or language or poetry or art that is more obscure than the average pop song listener would be familiar with like wine-dark open sea (I think it has more to do with the color of the sea.)
This song has a nice sound to it... but I always felt that it could have been better if Paul had come up with more lyrics for it - rather than repeating the same lines so many times. Paul included this song on his 2016 compilation album, "Pure McCartney". It is the only song to be included on that collection that comes from his 1989 & 1993 albums So Paul seems to like it quite a bit
I will never understand why Hope Of Deliverance wasn’t on there, clearly the biggest hit of the album and probably his biggest song since the 80s in general
The phrase "wine dark sea" goes back to Homer (the Greek, not the Simpson), and historians still argue about its meaning. In any case, this track is lovely.
I agree it should have stopped at the first apparent end. It dragged without enough change to make it intersting. I like this song but no where to the extent of other commentators on this video channel. It's good but not great.
Same for me! Always thought he said "Who is it now?" but now that Cory said that I can't unhear "Finish it now", and the band abruptly finish playing. Incredible that I keep discovering new things on this album after all those years
There is no mystery about this record. The overall focus was on the environment. And as for the lyrics, Paul did say he had a poet friend give his feedback on the lyrics.
Thse guys don't read the comments. I know they intend to after a cerain period but they don't. They would learn heaps if they were to read the comments as so many people have huge knowledge.
I always considered this as one of the more boring ballads, could very well do without this song. For me it lacks parts of special interest, techniques, innovations. The end is the least annoying part for me.
One of my favorites!
Pure McCartney and a very underrated song but beautiful
And don't forget that the first ever hidden track in recorded history is The Beatles' Her Majesty on Abbey Road.
Again, a Paul song
Such a gorgeous song and one of Paul’s personal favourites, too.
MY FAVE!
Love this song ❤
When is the greatest Paul McCartney Band coming to Australia!

Cosmic consciousness is an unreleased Beatles song.
I never knew that was it's origins. Cheers

One of the best songs on the album.
The best song on this album.

Beautiful, but for me it outstays its welcome by a minute or so.
The fake ending didn't need to be fake.

A song for chillin' on a boat.
I though he was saying "Who is it now?" It seems like I remember him saying "Who is it this time?", somewhere in another fade-out, years earlier.
Same for me! Always thought he said "Who is it now?" but now that Cory said that I can't unhear "Finish it now", and the band abruptly finish playing.

@@Uetti Yep, I can hear that now. I wonder what I'll hear the next time I listen to this. "Finish it now" makes more sense.

Love the song but after fake ending it should have come back and faded out quickly ! It went on a minute too long !!
Agree

BORING!! McCartney hasn't written anything very good in the last 40 years. The album cover design sucks too.
