I partly grew up with the cartoon, and to be honest I always took it as a play on how even a "bad person" can respond to a good influence. I'd love if they do something like that with the upcoming movie.
I grew up on that cartoon long before I knew there was a movie. I found out Tim Burton actually worked on that cartoon as well. I mean Beetlejuice himself suddenly had crazy powers, most of which revolved around puns, he lived with a tapdancing spider and a French skeleton whose main characteristic was that he constantly exercised. I'm not sure if I remember this scene right, but if I am it might be an absolutely brilliant joke. Beetlejuice and Lidya went to visit his Aunty Em in the countryside. They get there and it turns out she's an anthropomorphic cow. Lidya tries to ask how that works, and Beetlejuice just says, "Yeah, well...She's a cow, it's the Neitherworld" and just shrugs. Just saying, "it's a cartoon, don't think about it" without actually saying it.
I mean... even in the cartoon, it was several times made clear that most of his reputation is definitely deserved. Dude manages to get under everyone skin and then is surprised that most people want to see him get gone for good. So, yes, he wasn't a good guy (if anything, Lydia and his parents are the only ones he never pranked or whatever) but he was capable to do good if he wanted to.
Its funny you say that cause she isn't wrong. He was hired to scare off the living family but decided to compensate himself with a kidnapped gaggle of humans and a child-bride for the road 😐 I always assumed the cartoon took place in a world where Lydia was cool with her family's demise and Stockholm'd into goofy shenanigans 🤣
I miss when major blockbusters had weirdly disjointed cartoon spin offs. In another era, we’d have had a Dune series on Fox Kids.
We need kids cartoon versions of Furiosa, Mad Max, John Wick, Django, Dune...
I can 100% see cartoon version of John Wick, with a little dog as a comedic sidekick.

Oh yeah, that was par for the course back in the 90s. Cartoons based on movies not made for children would do the most.

He turned his life over to the good side in the cartoon 😅😅😅😅
If you think Beetlejuice is the bad guy you didn't watch the movie.

He was nice and good in the cartoon but that's different from the movie for obvious reasons....
They're different versions. The cartoon version is good. The movie isn't.
LMMFAO
I think they should do a cartoon remake and have Lauren Bobert as the villain.
