@johnpaullogan1365 .first off, it was Tim Burton that cast him as Batman, dumbass. Second, it was because he couldn't cast him as The Joker or everyone would See Beetlejuice, not The Joker, DUH!
He was just using Lydia to get out of the curse that had him locked up. He didn't care about actual marriage he was just interested in causing mayhem. The cartoon series that ran for 5 seasons flipped the script completely and had Beetlejuice and Lydia as a Genie and master scenario. Beetlejuice would be called by Lydia from the netherworld and they would get into adventures normally caused by Beeltejuice's schemes both in the real world and the netherworld. Lydia's Parents were in it but they wrote Adam and Barbara totally out of the cartoon.
when people were kids in the 80s they still showed reruns from the 50s and 60s all day and a lot of those people still worked in Hollywood and most of the people in Hollywood at the time trained by those types and i think thats why you dont see that aesthetic today. It was this kinda transitional period of film with multiple influences at play
That was a super fun reaction!! I'd like to recommend "Sleepy Hollow" another amazing Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Fantastic movie and, if you havent seen it yet, it would make for another really fun reaction. Great cosplay!
Beetlejuice has to marry someone in order to escape his afterlife. When each person dies in the film depending on how they lived what type of Afterlife they get. The married couple has to spend decades haunting their own house and never being allowed to leave because they always stayed at home and never wanted to go on vacations or leave their own house. He goes after the daughter because she's really the only available female at the property and he assumes because she's a goth chick she might be able to relate to him because he's a ghost lol. He would have gone after any woman most likely that lived there if there was a chance he could get them to marry him or if they were an easy target. It's interesting to also think about when Beetlejuice himself may have died because if he lived in the 18th century or whatnot then at the time it would have been common to marry young as women married at 15 or even 14 and started working on kids lol.
@boomstickcritique902 Wrong, dumbass. None of this is stated in the film, and what happened to the dead people was based on how they died, not how they lived, idiot. Don't make shit up, jackass.
LOL "Im not sure how I feel about this, I mean, how old is she supposed to be?" Well, I suppose the point could be made that 'alive at all' is too young to marry a ghost.
Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME. And I have seen this movie, no less that 100 times. And it wasn't until watching this reaction did I realize that he said "Edgar Allen Poe's Daughter". I am 32 years old and I am just now figuring that out. 🤦
The two guys that wrote the screenplay, one of them was a screen writer and the other just getting started but had the idea and they were working on the scene of leaving the attic to go to the afterlife 'help' office and they couldn't come up with a good way for them to leave the attic. Out of frustration the story guy blurted out, "What, you want them to just draw a door?" That is how that bit of that scene made it into the movie.
Wow you look great as Lydia. I had to do a double take. A+++ on the outfit and reaction. Also wanted to add that outfit would be so dope for Halloween this year. You would win a few contest. 😊
The stepmom got her start on a Canadian comedy skit show like Saturday Night Live. It was called " SCTV " . John Candy , Eugene Leve , Martin Short , and others came from there.
What I really love about this movie, and it's so subtle it really went over the head of young me for many years, is that it's established right off that Adam and Barbara would really like to have kids, but can't for whatever reason. Then they die and the Deetzes move in, and they have a daughter, but are both pretty typically 80s neglectful yuppie parents, and even if they did put in the effort, Lydia is just "different." And in the end, Adam and Barbara become Lydia's "real" parents, with her bio-parents able to pursue their own passions. And there's something to the way everyone plays it, Delia and the dad do clearly care about Lydia, they just don't quite know how to express it and help her meet her needs. By everyone coming to an agreement, everyone ends up in a better place in the end. It's very heartwarming.
I saw the sequel on Sunday and I loved it. In the past, just after this movie, part of the second one was made where they were going on vacation and the filming was cancelled. It was worth the wait for the second part

Betelgeuse isn't in Orion's belt. It's about where Orion's armpit is, and the star is known as "the armpit of the universe" and that's where they got the name for the character from.
Yeah, I didn't care for it either. Removing Adam and Barbara from the cartoon was a mistake, since they were a huge part of the movie, and their relationship with Lydia was too important to leave out.

A very fun and enjoyable reaction by you, Natascha. You got a great personality and I liked your talent of switching between your natural British accent and others to crack jokes.
I always had this theory that Beetlejuice cannot say nor spell out his name properly for people to say it because he was cursed that way when he was banished after causing so much trouble as Juno's assistant. Even though he couldn't spell his name correctly, the closest he could get was Betelgeuse so stuck with that in hopes that someone would get it right.
Actually, Betelgeuse was the correct spelling. But as shown in the movie, people don't know how to properly say it (anymore), so they went with the homophone (and rightfully so, since I've heard heard horrostories about people trying to "correctly" say Se7en and similar titles).
I don't know exactly why his name is Betelgeuse but if I remember correctly, it originally means shoulder, that is why the star in the Orion constellation that is supposed to go supernova soon was named that, but after years of referring to that joint in the constellation, the use of Betelgeuse changed to "armpit" which I'm nut surprised Tim Burton would use a sneaky word to name a character with that personality, "Armpit".
in a lot of old fairy tales, marriage of an other with a human often gave them special powers or privileges. and in the case of mermaids they would get half a soul. so often this was seen as a magical contract that happened regardless of age. its one of those weird blurry lined things, where i'm not sure if it meant marriage as we think of it. i mean things like winter or the wind, or other even more abstract concepts would take a human wife without becoming human themselves. but also in this movie he is a creep that would use anyone and anything to get out of whatever confinement he has on him. i just take it as that.
LOVE your cosplay. Regarding Lydia's age, Beetlejuice the character will take advantage of any situation he is in. Remember he immediately starts groping and hitting on Barbara (Geena Davis). He's an equal opportunity miscreant letch of the afterlife, but dammit he's charming! And I'm sure extra juiced to take on a pretty young child bride, but...he didn't. Can't wait for the sequel!!!!!
Your look as Lydia was amazing! I thought their dance at the dinner table was the best part. I didn't know there was a Beetlejuice part 2. Have you seen An American Werewolf In London? It was an 80's horror/comedy classic. Maybe you could do a reaction video of it sometime? If you like werewolves, I'm sure you would love it.
First time viewer, just cause you mentioned it, it's actually 2 in the morning. Since you said you wanted more, they did make made a Beetlejuice cartoon series. You should check it out, I have a feeling that you would really enjoy it.
i was so young when i first saw this movie i dont think i even knew what death was yet. so in a way this movie is what first introduced me to the concept.
Betelgeuse (pronounced Beetlejuice) is Alpha Orionis, a bright red giant star in the right shoulder of Orion, 1515, from Arabic Ibt al Jauzah (1515), traditionally said to mean "the Armpit of the Central One" with this arm he holds his club aloft, but perhaps more accurately "Hand of al-Jauza (Orion)" which became Bed Elgueze, Beit Algueze, the Betelgeuse.
@ I’m going to explain this to you as if you are a child, because I can only assume you are one, or you have the intellectual capacity of one. So I’m keeping this really simple for you here… Time flows at the same rate for all of us. I was younger when she was younger. I wasn’t 54 when she was 16. I was 17 when she was 16. I kept that all spaced out to make it easier for you to follow all the logic leaps and twists we had to take there.
Darlin', you look breathtaking. Jaw dropping kind of beautiful. Lydia was my first crush as a person, someone I liked and was intrigued by rather than a crush on the Pink Power Ranger or Topanga from Boy Meets World (both were rather horrible, boring people with pretty faces). Guess you could say she planted the seed that would grow into a romantic heart later on, alas that only led to me being the biggest (yet most loyal) man-slut that no one knew about as I was taught "our" business is "our" business and nobody else's. Made me popular in a secretive sort of way. Never fell in love. Still haven't. Want to, but I am very observant, kind of a prodigy in body language/micro expressions/pantomime, so I always know when I am being lied to and thus never met a woman I trusted that I did not friendzone because they needed an honest friend more than I wanted them. For some reason, I've no problem attracting, maintaining, and pleasing my lovers with bizarre ease, but that is because my only interest is mental stimulation and I don't care enough to lie. Sex without emotion is heartrendingly empty and you are left with nice, if boring, girls with most lacking an original thought or any interest in growing as a person, in constantly fighting to be better than you were yesterday which is a huge part of who I am. Never cheated, simply due to the fact that I hold myself to high standards. I do not lie, do not betray, and never break my word, cheating on any level is against the code I live by. It ain't easy, nothing worth doing ever is and I can say without a doubt that keeping to a code of honor/conduct has helped me in becoming a kinder, deeper, and wiser person than I ever could've by acting like everyone else. I'm strange, different, and Lydia was the first person that inspired me to accept who I am so that I could embrace growing into the man I wanted to be. Sorry, this took a lot longer to get to that simple point. Sometimes I feel as if I am the best dancer in the room, but I can't hear the music or enjoy it nearly as much as my partners, yet am far too proud to not practice my best steps and moves so that my dancing partners are left exhilarated, happy, and enthusiastic. As my ol' Dad used to say, "Son, whatever you do, do it right in the best way you possibily can and always finish what you start." Doubt he meant sensual arts and romance, though. Until I meet someone with integrity, guess I remain friend-zoned by the Queen of Hearts, so if you have somebody: blow their minds with something really special. Just randomly. Life is too short, people too cold, and the nature of humanity is cruel, so take the time to show someone that gives you warmth in your soul how much you appreciate them.
A lot of people get creeped out by Beetlejuice marrying Lydia. While he is a total perv, he's really marrying her to permanently escape being a ghost. It's why, when he gets killed at the end by the sandworm, he winds up in the waiting room for the afterlife.
The thing about Beetlejuice is, while he can be rude and uncouth, he is also very charming and that makes people forget that he really is a malevolent spirit. He has no qualms about torturing or straight up mercing people. He only cares about pleasing himself, and he gets pleasure from making the living miserable
Thanx for explaining your cosplay but this is your channel & if this is you & what you want to do you don't have to apologize to anyone for being you Your beautiful & your accent only adds to your beauty whether dressed up in cosplay or not
This is what Emily Blunt would look like if she were Lydia Deetz. Any relation? If you think Beetlejuice’s relationship with Lydia was WEIRD, they made a cartoon for kids where they were FRIENDS! It was not in line with the movie at all. Additionally, I’ve seen videos that propose Beetlejuice is a DEMON. Because you have to say his name three times to summon him, and he can’t speak his own name. He has powers that other ghosts don’t seem to have. But he’s also a prisoner confined to some hometown model. Look up the name Betelgeuse and you’ll find it’s a constellation in space. It’s showtime 😁

A very fun and enjoyable reaction by you, Natascha. You got a great personality and I liked your talent of switching between your natural British accent and others to crack jokes.
I have to admit you look gorgeous in the Lydia Deetz cosplay. Cant wait until you react to the sequel movie.
Joust found your channel, subscribed. Already hyped for your next movie reaction :)
I seen the entire Beetlejuice film today. I love this film.
Please consider to react to Robocop (1987), another 80's great classic movie! Love your reactions!!
Your cosplay was excellent! You look amazing! Such a fun reaction!
Thank you so much!!
You really nailed the Lydia look...
I liked the hair looking like you were struck by lightning.
I wonder if it happened while she was walkin’ down the street, or if she was hit by something last night in her sleep. 😉
Your singing voice (and speaking voice) are lovely :)
If you ever watch the TV show Community you can see Beetlejuice walk by in the background the 3rd time his name is said during the shows run.
Seriously good job on the costume!
I liked your cosplay. It's hard work dressed like a specific character I think but you nailed it. Greetings from Germany
Thank you so much!
Great reaction and awesome cosplay also!! You are amazing and beautiful!! Loved your Lord of the Rings reactions as well!! Best wishes always!! 😍❤
One of my faves:saw 7 times on original release and many times on vhs, dvd,tv and UA-cam reaction since 🎩
i was so young when i first saw this movie i dont think i even knew what death was yet. so in a way this movie is what first introduced me to the concept.
It's funny how the zagnut bar got its name. The ads were first created by Stan Freberg.
24:25 Stan also did parody songs. One of the songs he did was this song. You can find it right here on UA-cam.
I'm a goth elder and I say you've never looked better👍
Winona Ryder was my celebrity crush back then.
But she was 16.
@ I’m going to explain this to you as if you are a child, because I can only assume you are one, or you have the intellectual capacity of one. So I’m keeping this really simple for you here…
Time flows at the same rate for all of us.
I love the cosplay! All the thumbs up👍👍👍
You look great, insanely great. Perfect reaction. Thank you.
Beetlejuice is thousands of years old. Gotta wonder how significant the difference between a 16 year old and a 40 year old would be to him.
yeah i didn't think about this at all! crazy
Oh please.. you know he wanted more.
Hi Ya 👋😁 Miss Natascha !!! As always the like button 🔘 has been Crushed 😊
The intro to this movie has quite a few similarities to the intro to the movie "Men in Black" which was also had music from Danny Elfman.
Great reaction Natascha, and another great cosplay!
Thank you!! 😁
Thanx for explaining your cosplay but this is your channel & if this is you & what you want to do you don't have to apologize to anyone for being you
Your beautiful & your accent only adds to your beauty whether dressed up in cosplay or not
Your Lydia cosplay is on point, Natascha!! ❤️ Just subscribed to your channel as well, by the way! 🙂
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Check out the movies The Lost Boys(1987), Trick ‘r Treat(2007), Little Monsters(1989), Child’s Play(1988), Gremlins(1984), The Goonies(1985), and A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984).
Wowa! U Look amazing in Black! Love the Cosplay
It's show time!!
It's funny you should say it reminded you of Little Shop of Horrors, because that movie was ALSO made by The Geffen Film Company.
Production Companies just Fund Films, they aren't the ones who write them, dumbass.
Beetlejuice is like Poltergeist meets Looney Tunes.
The costume is great. I'm enjoying it immensely and we haven't even started watching the movie.
Natascha the White has gone dark. Is this eclipse related?
ahaha i should have linked it to the eclipse eh? 😂
In the U.S. you can get married at 16. In fact Alaska and North Carolina allowed marriage at 14 but NC recently changed it to 16.
wildddddd to me haha
