2 years late, but i really think... that when people say its commercial core, and imagine dragons doing music for the radio, I just cant help but disagree. They just make what they want to make and I always find it weird when people say how cash grabbing they are and they just want to make hits, when really they are such honest and humble guys from what ive seen. They never knew how successful their music will be and to this day they are doing what they want to listen to and music that they like, also they want their fans to have a connection to their music. ARTV I can’t stand the vocals from “friction.” They were more cringe than his vocals on night visions. Song is composed great. Vocals suck in general lol
I remember liking “Radioactive”, “It’s Time”, “Amsterdam”, and the iTunes bonus track “Fallen” but it’s been a long time since I heard this album in full.
Definitely Imagine Dragons best album in my opinion. So many great songs like: Demons, Bleeding Out, Amsterdam, Tiptoe, Radioactive, It’s Time, On Top Of The World, Hear Me etc.
yeah same. I used to be such a huge fan or them, now I'm just kind of indifferent to them. Except "Thunder", I will yell and have yelled at anyone who lets that song play.
@@FabulousKilljoy I was never a huge fan of them but thought they were ok but they are one of my least favorite bands along with everyone else I mentioned in my comment.
Night Visions and Smoke + Mirrors are the only albums I will acknowledge Imagine Dragons made. Imagine Dragons hung it up after that and never returned to music again....
They've released a few good stand-alone tracks like Mouth of the River, Warriors, Monster and Machine... maybe they should make an album with those songs? 🙃🙃🙃
this album brings back so much nostalgia from me being younger and loving this band. I may not love their newer music, but I remember always listening to this album while riding in the car after a long drive somewhere, sitting in the backseat and watching the rain. good times.
@@PopCrusher that's nice. My nostalgia comes from listening to this album while playing cod on the Xbox 360 with my uncle when I wasn't allowed to at home.
I used to be a huge (and I mean a HUGE) Imagine Dragons fan when I was younger, and I ended up drifting away from them when they released Evolve, but the final nail in the coffin for me was Origins. I really need to give this album another listen... just to see how much my critical perception of music has changed.
yeah just a year and a half ago I ditched my Evolve pfp for Sing the Sorrow by AFI. I was probably what you'd consider an Imagine Dragons stan at one point. Memorized 88 of their songs for no reason at all and thought I'd done myself and everyone else a great service when I was 12. Origins made me so angry, it was such a huge letdown for me. Now I just don't care about their music anymore, Origins was a huge wake up call lol
Valentina Abello I listened to it probably about 20 times the week after its release, and my little sisters played it A TON for the next few months. I couldn’t sing you one song other than “Birds”, “Natural”, and “Bad Liar”, and normally I catch on pretty quick. I actually only enjoyed “Birds” and “Natural”. I had preordered that album with the only eleven dollars I had at the time and I was so excited. I wanted to like it SO bad but I hated it with every ounce of my being. It is TERRIBLE.
It makes me so sad to see what the band has become after Smoke and Mirrors. I still have a soft spot for Imagine Dragons since it was the first band I really got into, but their new stuff just isn't good. Night Visions is very nostalgic for me, but as you were saying, S+M is their best work for sure.
I'll be that guy in the neighborhood to say that I'm actually a big fan of this album lol. Differing opinions aside, I always love to hear your thoughts Jon! Happy to see this review get an upgrade!
I loved this album along with _Smoke + Mirrors_ . After that, I feel like their other 2 aren’t bad, but I think they could’ve had a lot more potential on them.
I liked this record when it first came out and before “Radioactive” and their other songs were huge hits. But over the years, I only find myself coming back to a small number of tunes on here. Amsterdam is definitely a great track. I also like the tracks that were included on the Archive EP and later the reissued deluxe version, like Selene and The River. Imagine Dragons hasn’t been able to top this album or their earlier EPs, in my opinion. Smoke + Mirrors came close, but I guess maybe I have more nostalgia towards this one. Glad to see you did a redemption review of this record!
I always hated this album with the exception of Radioactive and Amsterdam, but I was one of the few who thought this album sucked. Honesty i hate this album as much as Evolve. Origins is the definition of a Meh album. Smoke And Mirrors is pretty great though, but even then i think I’m pushing it a bit by calling it “Pretty Great”
I remember "It's Time" being the background music for the welcome video during the Freshman festival at my High school and for that reason alone I try to avoid it as much as possible 😂
I don't like this album as a whole but I do have a few favourites (in order) 1. Amsterdam 2. Radioactive 3. America (From It's Time EP) 4. It's Time 5. Hear Me 6. Demons 7. Bleeding Out
Imagine Dragons' old stuff is really underrated. And I mean before Night Visions. I've heard ARTV give high praise to Pantomime, and I have to agree, it's one of my favorite ID songs now. I also really enjoy Off To War, Drive, Uptight, and Emma.
I’m gonna say it. I don’t love them, but Imagine Dragons being the main music act everyone hates on now is completely unnecessary. They are nowhere near the worst.
Lol, no. There’s a difference between criticism and hatred just for the sake of it. ID represent all of the worst qualities of bands with crossover appeal. They make bland, commercial friendly music that never pushes the envelope much at all and appeals to as wide of an audience as possible. They’re one of the most soulless but successful bands of the past decade and the CRITICISM against them is completely justified. They’re boring at best.
@@artvjon I think he's referring to the internet as a whole considering some people act like they've irreversibly ruined music. Some treat them like they're fucking Lostprophets lol
@@artvjon i would like to argue two points of your criticism of Imagine Dragons. People say they make songs only for commercials and for the radio. Well except Natural, they didn't sell a single song from Origins for any kinds of commercial purposes. They didn't even send half of the singles to the US radio. Also soulless??? I hate that word. Are you Dan Reynolds? How can you say the man writing a particular song didn't put his soul into it? Sorry for the last part but as a musician myself, that word just gets on my nerves.
Totally agree. I need to disclose that I actually really like them - no shame. I really dont understand the hate around them, they never claimed to have inventened smth new or to be a certain genre & out of the mainstream. Those demands are what the critics put on them. So what if a lot of people like them? That doesn't mean they are soulless at all. You can like music for many different reasons, and it doesn't have to be groundbreaking or anything. For me not liking certain music that is deemed as "shallow" "too pop" "commercial" and whatnot is rather pretentious. I totally respect and can understand if you dont like it personally, but why the need to badmouth them that hard? Yeah maybe the music is not the newness/ unusualness/groundbreaking etc. but it can still be enjoyable and good..lol
even though I listen back on these songs with kind of a bored look, there is no doubt I grew up listening to them. I remember jamming to On Top Of The World with my sister in the car, and hearing radioactive played at camp. The songs aren’t great, but they hold great memories with them for sure.
I am a huge ID fan, and I love Night Visions, but yes I will admit it does sound dated and the mixing/mastering isn't that great at times. Songs I dont really care for are Every Night and Underdog, but other than that I love every other song.
Imagine Dragons is my favorite band ever. And I as a huge fan, can understand some of the hate that they receive as some songs may be overrated than what they are. As IMO I don't think Believer is as good as people think, it's good but not near the best in Evolve. Evolve had some pretty good songs as is a solid album. Walking the Wire, Rise Up, and Dancing in the Dark are some of my favorite from that album. Also Smoke and Mirrors, isn't their best album. It has a great start probably the best opening like 5 songs of all their album, but after Polaroid, the songs after that are pretty meh and bring down the album for me, with the exception of Dream. And to close the album with Warriors is a strong beat to end on. Now Origins, this might be my favorite all around album for me, to kick it off you have a banger in Natural followed up by Boomerang is heat. Bad Liar is a hit and one of the best on that album. But my favorite songs aren't really until the end, I am a huge fan of Love, Birds, Burn Out and Real Life, and in my opinion are the best 4 songs on this album. Now, all the other songs are good enough to listen to, but they just don't compare to the rest of the album. And finally, Night Visions, my favorite album. Not necessarily for just nostalgic reasons, but when I listened when it released in jr high, I loved it, I look back and now I can understand the lyrics and connect more to these songs emotionally than I do on any other album. With Radioactive to lead it off, banger, one of their best songs ever, Tiptoe isn't bad but it doesn't fit right at the #2 slot for me, maybe if it was lower with like bleeding out or nothing left to say/rocks would be better. It's Time, Demons, and On Top Of The World are all classics, and some of their best work, but not my favorites. Once the album goes on you hear Hear Me and Amsterdam and those are where I really start to connect to the album, and as we go further to Bleeding Out, and Every Night those are some of my favorites, along with that My Fault and Selene are my absolute favorites from this album, they just feel so good and always hit. Now for songs like Underdog, The River and other I didn't list, I just don't really enjoy those as much as the rest but this album is held on top by having so much juice to the album, that as for now, it will remain as their best album IMO. Please Note this is all my opinion and if you disagree than no hate here Can't wait to see what they all have planned for the future!!
I'm REALLY surprised It's Time was in your least favourites, even some of the biggest ID haters like that one. Don't really disagree with the rest of the least faves though, On Top Of The World used to be my second favourite song of theirs after Radioactive, but I'm kind of sick of it and it would probably be in the lower band now, and that's probably the one ID song I associate the most with holiday commercials. Though seeing Hear Me in the faves is satisfying as that has now overtaken Radioactive as my absolute favourite song of theirs. Still, the 2/5 rating is kind of heartbreaking Edit: Just read OTOTW's official Wikipedia article and the 'In media' section is so long it's hilarious 😂 While the licensing stuff has never really bothered me, I can kind of see why it does now
Only problem is that I never reviewed it, my channel didn't launch until 2009 (after the album was out) so while I did occasionally praise it early on...I never did a full review. American Tragedy on the other hand...that might happen
Imagine Dragons will forever remain my favorite band. Each album of theirs is great in their own right. But i definitely agree that this album deserves the most love
Yeah there is some dated stuff on this album and I actually liked some songs on the deluxe album more like My Fault and Fallen. But anyways still have some nostalgia for the album and Tip Toe is still the most underrated song that I was shocked was never a single from the album
Night Visions isn’t as great as Smoke + Mirrors, but it’s still pretty solid. It hasn’t aged well for me at all, but I still think it’s a solid 6. Demons I still really enjoy for what it is, the lyrics and vibe of it was unique for a modern hit. Radioactive and It’s Time are still bangers. Amsterdam and Hear Me have nice guitars on it. I also even enjoy the somewhat happy and peppy Underdog. The rest I could go on without hearing I guess.
Smoke and Mirrors was a decent album and really indicated that they could've been a staple in indie music, but it flopped and they decided to make whatever that third album was...
they made two good albums and after that it was like they said to themselves “yo how much money do you think we could make??” and we got Thunder and Natural😔
I still love this album. A lot IS nostalgia. Without this album I would be nowhere in my musical path. It was a good start for me, as an 11 year old getting into music. (man i was 11???) I disagree on track 11, as I actually find the slow progression comforting in that song, and Rocks is a really sweet tune. Bleeding out and Demons have gotten a little old for me, but I can still enjoy the rest pretty well. The standard edition is fine, but some of the songs on the deluxe is fantastic. Cha-Ching is so good, Selene is (imo) the best Imagine Dragons track to date. I still hold a lot of love for ID and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I'm fine with them changing sounds, but I hope they return to the same *quality* of their first two records and early EPs.
I used to be such a big fan of Imagine Dragons some years back and I just haven't come back to a n y t h i n g, except maybe their early EPs. I'm so glad I listen to more of a variety of music now! I mean when I did like ID, I was like 11 so...
I would say this is my favourite ID album, although I think most of the better songs came from the deluxe edition. Selene is one of my favourite songs by them in general.
I‘ll honestly take It‘s Time over Radioactive for sure, but I agree the record hasn‘t aged great. The saddest thing is it‘s still faaar superior to their last two
Night visions to me is like Hot Fuss for others. It was honestly the first album I had ever listened to and got me into music. The nostalgic of indie and rock sounds reminds me of the good old days. My favorite album is though Smoke & Mirrors, I agree it’s their best work. I also agree on the issues with lyrics and the album slowing fading out, but for whatever reason Night Visions is such a pretty album that has aged well. I miss their old stuff. Their new album had only the one song “Real Life” that i really liked. Which if you’ve heard sounds like Night Visions material.
I loved this album for quite a while when it came out. Kinda over it now, but still a pretty decent release for what it is. Radioactive still rocks hard. And I say this every time I talk about them, but they’re fantastic live.
Didn't start watching this yet and didn't read comments but I just wanna say that this is my favorite record of all time and I think this is gonna hurt now...
I like your channel and I have been following it for a while, I have a suggestion, I suggest you meet British indie artists like Blossoms, The Magic Gang, Sam Fender, The Amazons, at least in my opinion the British Alternative music scene has managed better than in the United States. sorry if my english is bad.
How I see it is Night Visions is the best album almost beaten by Smoke and Mirrors they have absolutely amazing songs but Evolve and Origins are very very iffy. I love imagine dragons they are great but I wish that if they make a 5th album they go back to how Night Visions and Smoke + Mirrors
I like Imagine Dragons. I'm not a big fan, and the last album was bad, but (unpopular opinion here, I know) I loved EVOLVE when it came out and some songs of that album still hold up to me.
Honest to god I get why people don't like this album. It took me a while to even listen to the whole thing. I liked the radio hits. They were catchy as fuck and it made me happy. It was good background noise to listen to while studying. I bought the album on iTunes and turned it on. I'd heard tiptoe on pandora i knew i liked it and the first 2 were radioactive and then tiptoe so i just let it to without changing anything. I hadn't heard its time yet and that got me excited so i let that go, then on top of the world came and it was different but i like it and it made me smile. Then demons which i also hadn't heard yet and I've never been a huge fan of that song to this day, but it did make me intrigued by the album as a whole and made me decide to listen in full. Amsterdam was next and i was hooked. Still one of my favorites. My Top is selene, round and round, amsterdam, and the river
I remember liking the deluxe edition bonus tracks a lot more than the main album tbh. Fallen, The River, and Selene got major playtime for me around the time the album came out. I think they were on the EPs released before the record, and sound more indie-pop-rock and no trace of alex da kidd on it
I remember in 2012/2013, I was hearing friends from my high school choir and band saying that Imagine Dragons was one of the best new bands, and even my choir teacher seemed to agree with them. I might not have said anything then, but I was internally thinking, “What???” I didn’t care for Radioactive, and while it has grown on me since, it’s still not my favorite song by any means. I have no idea what these people think of them now, but even I must admit they’re a tad overrated today.
While I'm not a super critical person when it comes to music, it is interesting to hear your perspective on many musicians and bands, even if i disagree
Yeah I’d 100% agree with you on everything except for rocks. I really enjoy the hidden track. I just think there’s a lot of good energy in those drums and and the theme. Kinda a vibey track for me
Yeah when i listened to this album when it came out i thought it was really good but i relistened to it like a few months ago after not listening to it for years and i was like holy shit how did i like this... this is just not that good... Amsterdam still is a really good song though. Probably the only song i still like from that album.
I still really like this album when returning but I think everything you said is something that I could see as a potential problem for other listeners. The biggest issue i have when hearing this album is that the mixing and mastering is really not up to par. It's the biggest lacker and it does make the layering of the songs really thin. The stuff that keeps me going is that the songwriting on this album feels natural. I don't hear them trying to make a pop hit or a huge hit like I do with the later albums. They trail off because I feel that they didn't really want the songs to end. Idk they work for me and this album still makes me smile. It's not a perfect album by any means but it's one I like.
I hate to ask but would you be willing to go back over some of your reviews of owl city? (Not cinematic or mobile orchastra but like ocean eyes and even all things bright and beautifu)
Imagine dragons, wasted potential. Saw a live recording of a show of theirs from 2013/14 I think and live they were solid. I despise what they've become but I can still jam to Radioactive and Demons
I remember when Night Visions came out, and it was one of the first albums I ever bought myself. At the time, I think it was a good bridge for me between the commercial pop sounds and more alternative genres; I had been listening to top 40 pretty exclusively and that exposed me to Radioactive which actually led me away from some of that stuff. But looking back...a lot of the cuts from this record aren’t even memorable and I definitely had songs I skipped over
Some people compare Muse to Imagine Dragons, i dont find fair because Muse are great musicians and at least they are not afraid to try new things...i was a fan of imagine dragons in 2014...but also stopped there, and i still a fan of Muse and even tho sometimes i dont like their songs, they can always surprise and are unmatched live, Amazing!
People will compare literally every rock to Imagine Dragons if they release a poppy song. Happens in the comments here all the time, and yet the same people swear that Panic At The Disco sound nothing like Fall Out Boy lmao
I saw Imagine Dragons live where the openers was at the time an unknown Halsey and Metric then Dragons as the headliner. I remember not liking Halsey at all live and even Imagine Dragons didn't sound great live. Flashy production didn't win me over because while the band sounded great lead singer Dan Reynolds wasn't all that great to listen to. When my cousins and I left we really unanimously liked Metric the most and though they stole the concert and they were the 2nd act...it was kind of a bummer.
I wouldn't consider myself an Imagine Dragons fan by any means, but I think I can stomch them a little more than you can. I think this album is decent, but not great. Most of the best songs were originally from older EPs. 6/10 FAVOURITE SONGS: It's Time, Amsterdam, Hear Me, Tiptoe LEAST FAVOURITE SONGS: Underdog, Every Night, Radioactive
I was twelve when night visions came out and ID was one of the first bands I became a fan of so this album will always have a special place in my heart, I do agree smoke + mirrors is their best album and the way they're getting worse and worse makes me sad
The best ID album, and while to some that’s not saying much, I do greatly enjoy it. 4/5 for me. Radioactive is honestly less exciting to me over time, but songs like Tiptoe, On Top of the World, and Nothing Left to Say are still as great as ever to me. Even a slightly cheesy song like America is still really enjoyable. Disagree with the low review, but to each their own. Much like the other mainstream act that people rightfully dislike, Maroon 5: the first two albums are good, they sold out hard on their album, and it’s just been downhill since. Great album, give it a listen if you never have. It’s got interesting sounds and uplifting tunes, even if the rock is lacking.
I heard “On Top of the World” first, but I didn’t know the song title or the name of the band back then. I didn’t hear Radioactive until 2016, and I didn’t hear Demons until 2017
I keep thinking I love tf out of this album but once I get passed Hear Me I skip everything up till Nothing Left to Say which is prolly my favorite ID song. I do agree that Smoke & Mirrors is their best start-to-finish album. My issue also ties to the fact that Dan Reynolds isn't the most solid vocalist, he sounds great when he's yelling and singing raspy but his nasally vocals are just intolerable.
Imagine Dragons was the music I really grew up to and I find it sad that their style changed so much to the generic target music band, night visions was something else man.
I remember starting to listen to Imagine Dragons by a friend who was (and I hope not anymore) a huge fan of Imagine Dragons to the point of saying that it was her favorite band. I could never finish liking an entire album except for a few songs, but over time it became irritating to me.
I remember the first time listening to Night Visions and Smoke + Mirrors in 2018. They were alright and I think S+M is better. But they were not that great for me. Like something wasn't right like Radioactive and Demons were the track I remember liking it but relisten to em on the album... It made me realize how some few cuts were underwhelming or some okay duds on here But I do think EVOLVE and Origins is Imagine Dragons best approval from the last 2 previous record cuz I didn't feel the punch (tho S+M was but didn't reach that point) or a lot of satisfied groundbreaking sound of a the two first record for a Pop Rock band like Imagine Dragons Sure the sound isn't original for Imagine Dragons (in fact, you can compared them to Coldplay and Foo Fighters) But at least I guess they are making music that are appealing to the audience globally like fricking Night Visions and EVOLVE is still gaining a lot of traction over the years so...
Hey past cannot present question: Do you try to downplay your southern accent more in your recent videos or is it just a little less noticeable in your newer videos because you bring a lot more energy now? Either way I haven’t heard this album, but love your channel!
have you ever checked a live version of Nothing Left to Say? i've always been wondering how did they not end the album on such a positive for the standard edition note also, the deluxe easily is a 4/5 for me: Fallen, Round and Round, My Fault and the tracks from earlier EPs easily top most of the album and stand among the best they've ever written
I've found I dislike it more and more over time. I still don't HATE it, but I do hate some tracks, like "It's Time" is just an eye roller for me nowadays. It went from my favorite album when I was 13 to me being totally indifferent to it. I just don't care about it anymore.
Ok, so long story short, going into this I had actually only listened to the singles and Amsterdam. I liked all of the singles except Demons, and I love Amsterdam so heading into this I had some high expectations. Safe to say after listening to the rest of Night Visions, I'm greatly unsatisfied. The only songs I liked excluding the songs I previously mentioned were Tiptoe and Hear Me. And yes, I must say the album falls off hard after Amsterdam, cause you can clearly tell they half-assed the last 4 songs here. Overall I rate Night Visions a 6 out of 10 but I must say I'm quite disappointed. Also, I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed this, but the vocals on Underdog sound similar to Digital from Origins. And I don't mean that as a good thing.
ARTV well, I though you preferred Night Visions more than Smoke And Mirrors before, and now you think that S+M is the best album from their discography (just wondering if you changed your mind on it)

How does a band like Imagine Dragons start with so much potential and then throw it down the drain once they release their first album. Like what?!
Mainstream success from “Radioactive” happened, which made them make music on autopilot.
Perhaps hipsters were right all along....
As if Smoke + Mirrors is throwing their potential down the drain lmao
I Like Trains Smoke + Mirrors is pretty meh
Pistol Whip I did that still the same
I was honestly expecting the score to have gone up.
Personally even though I mostly don’t like ID at all, this album is still a solid 3.5/5 for me.
It's so ridiculously bland and soulless I just don't have any interest in it
Oh no not that word 'soulless' again. I hate the word. We can NEVER say how much soul a writer put into their songs.
soulless is only this review - that's just hate, not even good explanations
I liked this record when it first came out and before “Radioactive” and their other songs were huge hits. But over the years, I only find myself coming back to a small number of tunes on here. Amsterdam is definitely a great track. I also like the tracks that were included on the Archive EP and later the reissued deluxe version, like Selene and The River. Imagine Dragons hasn’t been able to top this album or their earlier EPs, in my opinion. Smoke + Mirrors came close, but I guess maybe I have more nostalgia towards this one. Glad to see you did a redemption review of this record!
I fucking love The River. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.
I always hated this album with the exception of Radioactive and Amsterdam, but I was one of the few who thought this album sucked. Honesty i hate this album as much as Evolve. Origins is the definition of a Meh album. Smoke And Mirrors is pretty great though, but even then i think I’m pushing it a bit by calling it “Pretty Great”
I still like the album. Some good songs. Lots of nostalgia. It’s Time is still a banger.
I remember "It's Time" being the background music for the welcome video during the Freshman festival at my High school and for that reason alone I try to avoid it as much as possible 😂
I don't like this album as a whole but I do have a few favourites (in order)
1. Amsterdam
2. Radioactive
3. America (From It's Time EP)
4. It's Time
5. Hear Me
6. Demons
7. Bleeding Out
Okay I rarely ever hear anyone talk about American. Its a critically underrated song imo
Imagine Dragons' old stuff is really underrated. And I mean before Night Visions. I've heard ARTV give high praise to Pantomime, and I have to agree, it's one of my favorite ID songs now. I also really enjoy Off To War, Drive, Uptight, and Emma.
Pantomime is one of my all time favorite Songs. Underdog in change with this Song and the Record where really good.
I Like Trains Yeah this is what I meant
Jon looking like a discount Eminem with that hoodie in the thumbnail.
Compliment taken
"I'm lyrical miracle spiritual individual criminal subliminal in your swimming pool"
even though I listen back on these songs with kind of a bored look, there is no doubt I grew up listening to them. I remember jamming to On Top Of The World with my sister in the car, and hearing radioactive played at camp. The songs aren’t great, but they hold great memories with them for sure.
Yeah make sure to keep watching I talk about how I thought I'd have a lot more nostalgia for this album
the only actually decent imagine dragons album imo
I am a huge ID fan, and I love Night Visions, but yes I will admit it does sound dated and the mixing/mastering isn't that great at times. Songs I dont really care for are Every Night and Underdog, but other than that I love every other song.
I am making a lot of Album runs and only 2 albums where at 2/5. This Review sucks completly.
Please Note this is all my opinion and if you disagree than no hate here
Can't wait to see what they all have planned for the future!!
Still, the 2/5 rating is kind of heartbreaking
Edit: Just read OTOTW's official Wikipedia article and the 'In media' section is so long it's hilarious 😂 While the licensing stuff has never really bothered me, I can kind of see why it does now
When I saw the notification , for some reason my head told me you've upped the rating 😂 LoL
Same
I Got It Wrong: Hollywood Undead Swan Songs would be a good one. It has aged terribly.
Only problem is that I never reviewed it, my channel didn't launch until 2009 (after the album was out) so while I did occasionally praise it early on...I never did a full review. American Tragedy on the other hand...that might happen
Selene has always been one of my favs from this album but no one ever talks much about it...
Oh I love that one! It’s one from 2010, so yeah it doesn’t get much attention.
I love your “I Got It Wrong” videos. Your recent 3OH3 episode is hilarious!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I have a confession to make, Amsterdam is on my playlist (but that’s it)
Evolve and origins are good pop albums in my openion , they've just got wrong genre
What do you think ?
I would still give it a 3. This album and Smoke + Mirrors (which is a 4.5 honestly) I can go back to them and don't mind it when they do come on.
I actually really love It's Time. It was the song of 12 year old me and I love it so much.
Imagine Dragons will forever remain my favorite band. Each album of theirs is great in their own right. But i definitely agree that this album deserves the most love
Listening to Underdog actually physically pained my ears. One of the worst things I’ve ever heard lmao
It's like 4 commercial songs at once and the synth + shouted "HEY" parts are literally unbearable
Tino Sounds like a poorly produced track made by a Nintendo keyboard.
man that was like my favorite song when I was 12
@@FabulousKilljoy I mean, props for not favouring one of the singles 😂
@@iliketrains3495 haha thanks ig
Yeah there is some dated stuff on this album and I actually liked some songs on the deluxe album more like My Fault and Fallen. But anyways still have some nostalgia for the album and Tip Toe is still the most underrated song that I was shocked was never a single from the album
This record was pretty great, it's a shame they've gotten so shite lately. Amsterdam and America are such bangers.
ID have never made an even remotely great album IMO
You covered most of the track released already but are you gonna review Song Machine Season 1: Strange Timez by Gorillaz when it drops next month?
Absolutely! Very excited!
My favorite tracks: Selene, Round and Round, The River (all deluxe tracks)
My least favorite tracks: Every Night
Overall album rating: 7/10
Bleeding out is good
@@samkintner1603 I edited it
Post folklore, I’d love to see an updated Red or 1989 review.
they made two good albums and after that it was like they said to themselves “yo how much money do you think we could make??” and we got Thunder and Natural😔
Natural is not bad, but Thunder.... (Sorry for my bad english)
Oof, even Night Visions isn't that great? Guess i'm entirely scared to listen to Imagine Dragons now. :/
It is, but kind of feels like 11 songs stuck together rather than a full album, something that Smoke + Mirrors did a lot better.
I mean when I did like ID, I was like 11 so...
same
Tiptoe is so good though :(
I never said it was bad? Literally one of the only songs I talked positively about if you watch the review :)
I would say this is my favourite ID album, although I think most of the better songs came from the deluxe edition. Selene is one of my favourite songs by them in general.
I‘ll honestly take It‘s Time over Radioactive for sure, but I agree the record hasn‘t aged great. The saddest thing is it‘s still faaar superior to their last two
Don't hate me but "Nothing Left To Say" is actually my favorite track on the album. Maybe my favorite in their entire discography
Nothing on this album is as ear-splitting as their new "music"... Thunderthuthuthunderrr lYghTnNg ahnd da thundah
I have no idea what these people think of them now, but even I must admit they’re a tad overrated today.
review new Big Sean album
I hated the dude for being ultra corny, but this record is solid.
Imagine Dragons, doing what they do best, dropping those essential hip hop bangers for that Christmas sweater run.
...hip hop?
I'm Russian and I can't fully understand the lyrics of this album. That's probably why I love Night Visions too much - it sounds amazing!
"Thunder" has impossibly stupid lyrics, but good sound
I agree with you, is has not many songs to remember, only that I like nothing left to say, I think it's good
I saw Imagine Dragons live where the openers was at the time an unknown Halsey and Metric then Dragons as the headliner.
6/10
FAVOURITE SONGS: It's Time, Amsterdam, Hear Me, Tiptoe
LEAST FAVOURITE SONGS: Underdog, Every Night, Radioactive
I was twelve when night visions came out and ID was one of the first bands I became a fan of so this album will always have a special place in my heart, I do agree smoke + mirrors is their best album and the way they're getting worse and worse makes me sad
Radioactive sounds just as good in 2020 as it did in 2012.
Wasn’t this your most viewed video at one point.
I think so, until 2015
I really like the song 'The River' which is on the deluxe edition of this album, pretty underrated although they still play it live from time to time
The best ID album, and while to some that’s not saying much, I do greatly enjoy it.
I don't disagree tbh. I love the album, but with the exception of Bleeding Out I'm not super into any of the tracks after Hear Me.
I will say this is there best album.
It made me realize how some few cuts were underwhelming or some okay duds on here
But I do think EVOLVE and Origins is Imagine Dragons best approval from the last 2 previous record cuz I didn't feel the punch (tho S+M was but didn't reach that point) or a lot of satisfied groundbreaking sound of a the two first record for a Pop Rock band like Imagine Dragons
Sure the sound isn't original for Imagine Dragons (in fact, you can compared them to Coldplay and Foo Fighters)
But at least I guess they are making music that are appealing to the audience globally like fricking Night Visions and EVOLVE is still gaining a lot of traction over the years so...
Smoke and mirrors is their best, but evolve makes night visions look like kid a.
Hey past cannot present question:
Do you try to downplay your southern accent more in your recent videos or is it just a little less noticeable in your newer videos because you bring a lot more energy now?
Either way I haven’t heard this album, but love your channel!
I actually lost the accent over time. I was taking speech classes around that time in 2012 and eventually shook it mostly. Thanks Allen!
I was NOT expecting this lol
Absolutely love imagine dragons. Night visions is honestly one of the best albums ever
4. Evolve (1/5)
3. Origins (2/5)
2. Night Visions (2.5/5)
1. Smoke & Mirrors (3/5)
Just my opinion
Yeah I'm close on the ratings and would rank them the same way
oh I hated Origins so much more than Evolve
have you ever checked a live version of Nothing Left to Say? i've always been wondering how did they not end the album on such a positive for the standard edition note
also, the deluxe easily is a 4/5 for me: Fallen, Round and Round, My Fault and the tracks from earlier EPs easily top most of the album and stand among the best they've ever written
And I don't mean that as a good thing.
maybe “I GOT IT WRONG: Smoke And Mirrors”????
Nah, I didn't get it wrong lol
ARTV well, I though you preferred Night Visions more than Smoke And Mirrors before, and now you think that S+M is the best album from their discography (just wondering if you changed your mind on it)
