There are many super robots from anime and Sentai series from the 80s to the early 2000s. But as a kid during the 80s the line up that I remember was: Monday: Mekanda Tuesday: Laserion Wednesday: Daimos Thursday: Voltes V Friday: Bioman Saturday: Shaider These series were shown at ABS CBN (Channel 2) Then a few years later Maskman was shown every Saturday. Voltes V reruns took place (during the post martial law years) All above-mentioned series were dubbed in Filipino (Tagalog) except Bioman and Laserio which are shown in English. I've watched Voltes V in both languages. Other shows with super giant robots that I remember: Friday: Voltron Defender of the Universe (Lion) (GoLion)/ (Far Universe) was shown in IBC13 (the series was not complete). The series remained in the English Language. Voltron Defender of the Universe (Vehicle) (Near Universe) (also shown in English) (IBC13) I also watched Volteon: Fleet of Doom where Voltron Lion qnd Vehicle joined forces. I only learned recently (thanks to the Internet) that there are three Voltron robots. The other one Voltron Gladiator of the Middle Universe was never shown in the Philippines. Saturday: Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (RPN 9) (shown in English, was never dubbed in Tagalog) (series was not aired completely) Sunday: Macron 1 (Go Shogun) (GMA7) (was shown in English) There was another forgotten mecha anime series called Mighty Orbots which also retained its English dub. There was also Jetman on TV5 During the mid 90s to the early 2000s, super giant robot series became fewer. Friday: Gundam Wing (GMA7) Saturday: Gundam Seed (ABS CBN) (can't remember its time schedule) Sunday: Robotech (RPN9) was.not dubbed in Tagalog) Neo Genesis Evangelion was also aired.in the late 90s. In 1995 the original Power Rangers was shown at ABS CBN. (It was shown in English) The succeeding Power Ranger Series were aired on cable TV and so are countless super sentai series with robots. But of all these super giant robot series it was Voltes V that continues to resonate aith Filipino audiences until it was made into a live action series by GMA7 from 2020 to its premier in 2023. Combattler V was shown for.a time.by GMA7. I only learned too that Combattler V, Voltes V and Daimos are all part rhe super robot romance trilogy. Many Filipino audiences from those decades don't remember some of those series that are mentioned. Of the super giant robots that I like the most are: Voltes V, Voltron (Lion.and Vehicle).and Ramrod (Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs) In the 1980s these series are dubbed in English by Filipino voice actors besides the original American dubbing When the 1990s came the dubbing is in Filipino (Tagalog).
Mekanda Robot, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Grendizer and greatest Mecha Robot of all time, Voltes V. It was such a treat for a kid to be in the 70's and early 80's here in the Philippines. Sadly, the strongman in Malacanang made a powertrip and banned all of these shows due to its stories who usually revolve around rebels, underdogs trying to topple tyrants.

Its great to know someone else remembers this like I do. I remember having many merchandise related to them..questor magazines, bookmarkers, LPs, coloring books, etc. I was even able to preserve my Voltes V toy robot that I brought with me when I moved here to the U.S. Such memories. Aside from the 5 robots and Star Rangers, I also remember RPN 9 coming up with their own. I think Balatack tried to compete with Mekanda (or Daimos), and Jigg (Jeeg), the steel robot competed with Mazinger on the same time slot. There was also Getter Robo (which they renamed Getta)There was also JACKQ which resembles Star Rangers but was aired on a different time slot. Of course they did not really make a good impression the same way as Voltes V and company did. Watari, the Wonder Boy is not even a robot but when Marcos banned the robot anime, it was also included, maybe because it was also Japanese made. I tell you, a lot were either pissed, upset, or cried when all these favorite robots were suddenly removed from television and were replaced by Japanese programs like Paul in Fantasy Land, Honeylyn the Balloon Girl, Candy Candy, and Ron Ron the Flower Girl..uggh!

my favorite robot character since then way back 80's. i love it. sending my full support sir. have a bless day!

1 OF MY FAVE SHOGUN WARRIOR OF ALL TIME. 😀
Yes, in Super Robot Wars Compact 3.
Sad thing is, its for Wonderswan Color, thus making it a very unnoticed and overlooked SRW
Never heard of this show. I love this opening though
Liked the design of Mechander Robo- and it has a great HQ- King Diamond. Plus, Jenny Humboldt was very pretty. 😁
They were also bold enough to include black characters that were not comic stereotypes...like that Jones guy
Thank you for posting this!
I wonder why Toei or Bandai won't reboot this.Such an underrated mecha robot.
Let's hope this series appear in Super Robot Wars. This will help to boost popularity of Mekanda Robo.
