The issue they had then was the car backing into the wall. They adjusted the crunch zones and fixed the seats as it was the backing into the wall at the right angle that was doing it. Then add I. Kurt’s long career with multiple bad wrecks and that what did him in and why some of the younger drivers recovered.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - NASCAR driver Ryan Preece, whose car rolled about a dozen times during a terrifying crash at Daytona International Speedway, was on his way home about 12 hours later after being discharged from a hospital Sunday. Stewart-Haas Racing said Preece was headed back to North Carolina after getting clearance from doctors at Halifax Health Medical Center. The team earlier said Preece was “awake, alert and mobile" and “had been communicating with family and friends.”

1971 Maynard Troyer's flip at Daytona (most rolls I believer ever by a stock car) rivals that and the Talladega flip by Phil Parsons was another nasty one with big air and lots of rolls as well.

Ryan has taken some hard crashes before and he may very well be the toughest guy in NASCAR but he's considered bulletproof as far as I'm concerned if he walks away from this without major injury

that's who hell of a sturdy roll cage to survive a violent crash like that.

It's crashes like this that remind us how dangerous this sport actually is. But it's also reminded of how safe we've made these cars.
