this is great, im just learning, im glad you show mistakes as it shoes the difficulty of the work that you do and how it could effect the pricing of the job.
You also have a lot of mechanical experience, im sure there are coaters out there with none and would not know where to mask mating surfaces ect. great videos ! Steve UK
Referencing "Old Powder." I live in Alabama and we have about 98% humidity all year. I same the silica packets from work and store the power in its original bag with the air pushed out and put the bag in a jar with a few silica packets. Ive never had a problem with old powder. I just check to make sure its not clumped together.
I am rebuilding my engine on my 95 SL2 and adding 150+ HP and I was thinking of doing the value cover in the dark blue with white raised letters, I think that would look nice IMO. The metallic is even nicer. Maybe I might do that too
It just a matter of time for you channel to grow. Great videos, detailed informations and good knowledge 👌. Great effort mate. Keep going and looking forward to your nex video. Regards from Sweden
What do you use for the paint stripper that you had heating up? Also is there any paint strippers that don’t need heating ? Also I’m learning g that some valve covers are magnesium and are sensitive to some strippers and can be destroyed from sitting in certain paint strippers ? I’m newer to powder coating and am starting a small business and want to make sure to be fully educated on how to do things right
Sometimes I struggle with light orange peal . Nothing serious but I can’t always get a perfect smooth gloss . I guess some powders seem to be easier then others any idea what is my biggest issue ? It’s never bad or terrible but I am a perfectionist and I want to perfect my technique lol
I should have sent you my valve cover, I got it powder coated and now I'm having to pull the baffle afterwards because there is so much sand inside of it
@@UnknownCoatings I'm about to throw it away and get another. I drilled all the way through near the spark plug valley 🥲 and the powder coat is getting all scratched
@@UnknownCoatings I was able to tap get most of the holes tapped m5 and the ones I was having issues to m6. I got it pretty well cleaned out and to cover the whole I drill I'm going to run spark plug wire cover in the b20 valve cover
Lol 20 feet away? You try putting some clay on em. I'm guessing I've been doing this longer than you have been coating valve covers. I'll continue to tell people different ways of solving the same problem. If you are an expert, start your channel up and teach the masses....
"assume the people you are speaking with know something you don't" I used to do that too. Then a bunch of muppets who are looking for powder instruction comment on my videos pretending they are experts 🤣. Let me know when your channel fires up guy
I like the mistakes,
Also appreciate u showing how ur fixing it.
Too many u tubers out there using UA-cam magic.
It’s not boring! It’s realistic and helps us newbs learn! Love the tutorials!

For that small opening, why don't you pull the diffuser tip and shoot a narrower stream/cloud in there (referring to the base coat)? Great video, BTW.
Wait so you can heat up the covers with the baffles still together when you powder coat? I thought the gasket would’ve melt ??

If the orange peel is "tight" or small, it's usually a lack of powder

Bro new sub. Love the attitude and approach. Quick questions, what's the turkey frier about?
It's for cleaning valve covers and other engine parts

Nope. I use water and degreaser lol. I hb a whole video about it
@@UnknownCoatings no worries mate I'm cruising your channel. I'm enjoying the content. Peace brother
what grit do you use on the casting flash?
80 or 100 typically.
How much would you be charging for a valve cover like that?
Watched a ton of your vids but would like to hear the ups and downs you have experienced running a powder coating buisness.
then I have a GREAT video coming out you will really like

What color blue is that ? I like the color.
Indigo Blue from prismatic.
I've sandblasted and had media end up inside light bulbs 20' away. Do not clay pack baffles. Remove them ffs.
