I own 3 Zebralights SC52w, SC600w (Mk 2's) and H600fw Mk 4 and am looking to buy my 4th, 2nd headlamp w more throw than my H600fw (frosted lens). Superior UI, quality, weight, size, looks and tint. Clear winner imo.

Thanks for a nice, comprehensive review with actual shots in the dark. I have two Zebralights (one with a flood lens and cooler tint, one with general-purpose one and warmer), and I love them both. They last pretty much forever and the high CRI light helps me see pretty well.

My zebralight has served me well for years and continues to do so. My only complaint is the elastic in the headband wearing out over years of sweat and temperature changes. But it still keeps the thing on my head, so I can't complain too much. Otherwise, it works as well as the day the box arrived on my doorstep, and I have used it every single day since, or just about.

@@leeonr I use the 18650's. Some think it's not quite as convenient, but I always have spare batteries charged and instead of just leaving it on the rack, when I need a fresh one, I just swap it out and get back to work. I use my light even in the day time so down time isn't really an option. I forget who makes my charger but it handles numerous types of batteries and in a pinch I can use the battery to charge my phone.

I like Lumintop as the sweet spot. Price, size/weight, pattern, brightness. Not crazy for the bright overdone headband but I see the advantage in a work environment. Don't need the complicated software either. But all in all looks like the tool I need. I hope the offset from center point isn't noticeable on an L shape light. I wish there were more centered options in 18650. Very nicely done thanks.

Thank you for putting up a comparison of good quality lights, it’s the best video I’ve found so far.
I’ll tell you that I purchased the ThruNite TH30 V2 after a ton of research, and I was extremely happy with it until it stopped working on me after not much use. It appears to be charging the battery but then won’t turn on. I have two of these lights so I swapped the battery and still nothing. So unfortunately the actual light and not the battery is no longer working. Sad part is I’ve only used it a about 6 or so times & never got wet. I’m just glad it died on me when I didn’t urgently need it. I’m now searching for a different manufacturer in order to replace it. Looks like I’m going to try the wizard this time. Thanks again for the great review, very helpful.

Did you contact Thrunite? They have an excellent warranty and replaced one of my lights (TC12-V2) after having it for a year without any questions. I did provide proof of purchase, a picture and an explanation of the troubleshooting steps that I had taken in my initial email to them so I am unsure if those would have been required. I also own the TN12 Pro & the TT20, my new favorite, and they are all great lights.

I’ve had two Nitecore fail on me. One was a flashlight that I dropped at waist level onto concrete and it stopped working. And another was a headlamp that became intermittent and then eventually stopped working. I cleaned the contacts and tried several batteries including Nitecore’s own batteries.
Currently I own two Zebralights, one being about a year old and another is five years old. Have had absolutely zero issues with them. Mainly use Samsung batteries with them.
I have had good experiences with two Thrunite flashlights that I own so I recently purchased the headlamp. Seems to be ok but only time will tell. I do like that it’s USB-C rechargeable. I’m pretty sure that the headband will wear out quick. If so, I’ll swap it with a newer type spare Zebralight headband.

Man those are all nice, but Zebralights are something else! Love the beam pattern, temp, and simplicity. Although I do like the idea of integrated charging, it's not really necessary IMO with a charging case/power bank like the PB2S and I think just adds another potential failure point. I do like the armytek but that proprietary charger would never see use. God, you can make a case for all these lights though. I see why everyone's collection is so massive.

I have Zebralight H53c (HiCRI, AA battery) I like everything about it, but the head band. Soft rubber which is bend towards forehead is painful to wear for more than 10 minutes. I tried to reroute it differently to have textile part behind the rubber, it works, but it's more loose with tendency to rotate up and down. My previous cheap Petzl is from hard plastic, but having textile band behind it and evenly spread pressure on forehead is much better.

These are some great headlamps 🙂 Unfortunately none of them met my requirements.
The PERFECT headlamp according to me would be one with a high CRI of 95, neutral white tint that are a little on the warmer side, pure diffused flood that covers my whole field of view, pretty much NO HOTSPOT whatsoever, at least 2500 lumens, USB type C charging port on the body itself, can use a non proprietary battery and does NOT have a magnet in the tailcap.

As usual you picked a very good variety of models to compare against. Personally I use a Olight inside, because of the auto dimming mostly. But outside I really like the beam, quality and brightness of the ThruNite TH30 V2. The ThrunNite for me is the best value of all these models (best bang for the buck). The Olight's (not included here) are expensive for what you get.

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  2 роки тому +1

Which olight are you using? I reviewed the Perun 2 a few months ago and think its really great and its nice to see that auto dimming feature on some of their newer lights.

@@UrbanSurvivor I have both the Perun and the Perun 2. Love the lights HATE the cheap headbands that come with them and wear out in no time. The Perun is now riding on a Wowtac headband. I use the 18650 (Olight proprietary cell) version most when working inside. The Perun 2 is a fantastic headlamp but man that thing is heavy and I can not wear it for extended periods of time. Perhaps a better headband would make the Perun 2 easier on the noggin and hold up better. If Olight is going to continue to make quality Headlamps and put them on sub par crappy headbands then they should provide no less than 6 headbands with the lights, at least that way you would have a years worth headbands.

I used to like Olight because they are compact, I like the modes, and many of their flashlights have a magnetic tail cap.
I have stopped buying Olight flashlights because I have had 6 fail. They were all various types of single 18650 lights, and I used them for EDC and lighting as a mechanic working in the dark a lot.
I would recommend against any Olight 18650 flashlight.
I do have 4 Olight Double A flashlights that all work well.
I also own Soferin flashlights, and they are a good value.
My most reliable and best quality flashlights are all Zebralight.

@@jasonneugebauer5310 I agree with you on this. I do happen to have a Perun 2 on order at the moment as I need a more floody throw but my most used headlamp is the sofirn sp40. It turns out that how long an 18650 battery lasts depends on where it was made, not on the value they printed on the side. ProjectFarm tested a bunch of these (ua-cam.com/video/qMZuHMlRw_0/v-deo.html) using very good methodology and found that the ones made in China were significantly over-rated. There was one that said 9,999 mAh! It was crap-o-la, lasting 1200 mAh. None of the 18650's made in China lasted over 13% of their rating . The best were made in Japan (Sony, Panasonic) and Korea (LG, Samsung). If you are going to depend on your headlight, make sure you use an 18650 that you can trust.
