Warner Bros Entertainment copyright striking The Hunt for Gollum Fan Film is appalling behaviour! Make some noise and tag them to try and help them realise their mistake 🤞
The Hunt for Gollum doesn't need to be a movie about Gollum. Like Lord of the Rings has little to do with said "Lord of the Rings". The books are not about Sauron, but the quest to defeat him. So the "Hunt" could be about the people hunting Gollum, not about the creature itself. Aragorn is such a popular/loved character that I feel that it is a good opportunity to expand on his story. Show a younger Aragorn, maybe using some flashbacks to show his relationship with the elves, the other rangers, the time he spent on elsewhere to be the man that he is at the time of the hunt can be such a smart move, because let's be real, Gollum isn't the best to have any kind of talk and during the time they spent together Aragorn would have plenty of time to regret his life choices or think about other stuff other than his "lovely" companion 😂. They also can use this to show a bit more about Sauron and Shelob in a way that makes them more of a character than a "footnote" or a random character just used to fill a random "role" within a bigger story, as it is the case on the movies. Make people that only watch the movies think "Ah, so that's why that spider is there" or "Oh, Sauron really is a menacing danger to the world, why didn't I realize it before". Let's be real, Sauron is shown as somehow a dangerous character but people that don't know the books have nothing there in the movies to really grasp "why" he is a danger to the entire existence of the world.
I like this thinking. As I keep on pointing out, Gollum is only part of "The Hunt for the Ring" (Sauron's hunt that is), which is quite a detailed account in Unfinished Tales. Surely Warners must avoid Amazon's mistake, and not throw millions at a project which is hamstrung by a stupid limitation of the rights. But yeah it should be Aragorn's story, with the romance with Arwen front and centre. She can be an action heroine herself of course, building on movie-Arwen, who I like very much, so sucks to the "purists". So a traditional action-adventure, very much a Hero's Journey, with a mythic scale and grandeur that are essential to make it worthwhile.
I think it would be cool if they did it like Apocalypse Now where its a smaller story hunting a rogue creature within a greater war and focuses on the psychology of Gollum and Aragorn.
@@ColoradoStreaming That's an interesting idea. I haven't seen Apocalypse Now, though I do know the Joseph Conrad story which inspired it. However these are (respectively) anti-war and anti-colonialism stories. Whereas, the War of the Ring is a "good" war, being in fact Aragorn's fight to claim his kingdom. So he can't be a minor player. The difficulty I see is in motivating the hunt for Gollum. Why is it so important to capture him? The actual result is that Gollum's story explains how the Ring came to be in the depths of the Misty Mountains, and so convinces Gandalf it really is the One Ring. I should say though that to get some tension going, there needs to be some definite purpose on Gollum's part, something he needs to be stopped from doing. Find Frodo, kill him and steal the Ring back? Or lead the Nazgul to him? I dunno, but luckily I don't have to write it.

The hunt for Gollum feels like it would be better as one of those animated direct-to-video prequels that were all the rage in the 1990s and early '00s.
It's important to read this story against the backdrop of Sauron's own "Hunt for the Ring", which is detailed in the section of that name in Unfinished Tales. There is lots of information about the movements of the Nazgul, their dealings with Saruman, and even an appearance of Wormtongue. I feel the project can't succeed without access to this material, which has never previously been licensed.
Not sure if the Hunt is worth being filmed tbh, not a hater, just saying that there is a myriad of Tolkien material which has a much better potential (Battle of the North, How Nazguls came to be, Scouring of the Shire, and so forth)

So, they can't make the movies we all want to see. I am however encouraged that the right people are making the movie. Peter, Fran and Philippa alongside Andy will do a great job, it will be better than any film made in the last 10 years. I am sad that it has taken them so long to try as I really can't imagine anyone other than Viggo as Aragorn and Ian as Gandalf. And of all those worried, no this will not be a movie where we watch Aragorn wandering around with Gollum. There are a lot of concurrent events that can be bought in from the appendices of the LOTRs! Namarie to the all!
The only thing that appeals to me about this story is the basis for Gollum going to Mordor. What he feels is the metaphysics of this inner orientation. I wonder if the movie will touch on this?
These sort of projects should have been done over a decade ago if done at all. Viggio and Ian were perfection in the roles but I don’t want to see a 65 and 85 year old hunt for anything or worse yet, the roles played by someone with a fraction of the talent.
I'm pretty sure it mentions in the book that Gandalf meets with Radagast to ask if he has seen Gollum. It was over 25 years ago though that I read the books so.....
I’ve been copyright hit by Werner brothers before they have never released it, they monitise it instead. Paramount tend to be really good for releasing claims as long as you’re being positive anyway. Which is fair I think mostly. Werner brothers are not good for it though
Random Gollum-based things that no one asked for has historically never ever been a bad idea. I'm committing arson if it has a post-credit sequel teaser at the Council of Elrond with Aragorn finishing his story with "and that's how we captured Gollum. Good thing he's locked up in Mirkwood, right, Legolas?" and then Legolas goes "yeah about that".
Then Hobbit and The LOTR trilogy were the first real books I ever read. I was 5 years old. I love the LOTR movies and like The Hobbit films. I'm a big fan of the whole universe and its population of rich characters. But does this story really need to be a movie? If stretching The Hobbit into three movies was done out of greed this is definitely just a money grab to fleece the fandom.
They shouldve made a Young Aragorn series. Of him becoming the great dunediane chieftain. there they could create the relationship with gandalf. something telss me the search for gollum will do this but in reverse
Think my only issue will be if they recast the actors we already know. If they do, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as long as it's written and made well enough. It's Warner Bros. So hopefully it's as far from being like Ring of Power as possible.
i do not feel Peter Jackson has enough content to work with if he just focuses on the hunt for Gollum; imo he would be better served getting the rights to say The Simarillion or something and adapting that .
This could be good, even considering how much would have to be made up. A Gollum hunt story could maintain its integrity yet still feature Bilbo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas or his people, Beorn’s descendants, even Radagast. If they could avoid the mistakes of The Hobbit trilogy and needless to say, that Amazon garbage.
There's so little to this story though 😕. I'm not saying it's not possible to make a movie out of it, but we're talking like 90 - 120 minutes at a maximum. And thats already considering a large amount of fluff.
Well maybe of a certain someone hadn't said why do we need a movie when we have a perfectly fine film already on UA-cam then maybe it would still be there. But the truth is they had no rights to make that.
It just seems like a really flimsy premise to make a movie on. Of all of the events in the Tolkien lore why pick this? The Gollum game was horrific. The depiction of this sequence of events in the fellowship is like a paragraph. There just isn't much to build on. I guess that they are banking on people being obsessed with the particular actor's portrayal of Gollum. But what's the point? Make a damn first age movie if anything.
The point is… In LoTR they used 90% Tolkien material and 10% own inventions.. like legolas doing Skate board landing in Helms deep and those akulla in in the army of death… In the Hobbit they used 50% Tolkien material and 50% own inventions like barrel fight…. In these new movies they have less than 1% Tolkien material and more than 99% own inventions…. Sounds good… right… 😂
Not enough information given by Tolkien about Gollum to make a movie or series. Nevertheless, I think it would be quite interesting and personally would watch the movie.
uhh... the amount of things happening in this time is substantial. foundational to a lot of the story that we see in LoTR. This will very much be LoTR's prequel series (like the starwars prequels)
@@hudsonb631 Most of things that happens between Bilbos Brithday and Frodo start of the journey is from Unfinished Tales, Nazguls meeting Saruman and Grima

I think this is a bad move, and a bad idea for an entire movie. They’re going to ruin the IP with this one then it’s dead. Gotta let these old characters go because this is a horrible idea and no one wants it. If they’re going to make any more Tolkien stuff, they need to go to the first or second age and make new movies with new characters, etc. They must think people will just flock to this movie because of Gollum….They won’t…
I hope Peter Jackson goes back to the original way that he did LOTR and doesn’t go the same route that he did with The Hobbit. I think we all can rest assured knowing that it won’t be like the Rings of Power. 😂
The absolute audacity to copyright strike "The Hunt for Gollum", and a large number of people DEFENDING Warner Bros takes the cake. I haven't seen a community with a bigger Stockholm Syndrome. (Not talking about this channel, but communities all over).
Why cant we get a movie set in the first age with morgoth directed by jackson with fingolfin , finrod , Ungoliant , balrogs , dragons , elves being twisted into orcs ect that would make alot of money 💰 they could make a trilogy of that age
I think its ok that Jackson and his team do The Hunt For Gollum. We should know from experience that they will have ample source materiel to work with. Side stories can be taking place where Gollum is traveling. I dont understand why there is a backlash to it at all. Unless Peter Jackson starts adding woke ideology it should be an all right film. Just make it a good story. Quality in the spirit of Tolkien is whats important. The Hobbit films work for me despite its differences to the book because they were still in the spirit of Tolkien. Why complain? These movies are ten times better than the majority of other films. To me they have no equal.
I’m all for them tackling “The Hunt”; I feel it IS appropriate, as a flex & way of showing Amazon & the studio that made that awful game “hey step aside and watch how it’s REALLY done”. That being said, it might be wise to not just CALL the film “The Hunt For Gollum” or to even mention him in it. I think that scenario should absolutely be a part of it, but the film as a whole should encompass some of the major driving factors behind the war of the ring itself taking place.
Out of all the shows and movies they could have made, all the amazing stories in the Silmarillion, this is the dog shit they give Tolkien fans. Real cool 🖕🙄
i think we should take tolkienist literature like shakespeare, how we see different temporal renditions within production. it would be interesting to see what a modern lord of the rings story set in our current time would be like
Why would anyone waste time watching anything peter jackson touches after what he did to the hobbit movies? Anyone who is a true fan of tolkien will never forgive jackson for those 3 abominations. I'd rather eat my own sick.

These sort of projects should have been done over a decade ago if done at all. Viggio and Ian were perfection in the roles but I don’t want to see a 65 and 85 year old hunt for anything or worse yet, the roles played by someone with a fraction of the talent.
i might not be a tolkien scholar but it seems to me there is over 9 000 more interesting subjects for movies in tolkien world ( ? )
Check out "a long and weary way" it's an amazing fanfiction detailing how Aragorn captured Gollum.
That last Gollum art pic was genuinely creepy
I'm pretty sure it mentions in the book that Gandalf meets with Radagast to ask if he has seen Gollum. It was over 25 years ago though that I read the books so.....
I’ve been copyright hit by Werner brothers before they have never released it, they monitise it instead. Paramount tend to be really good for releasing claims as long as you’re being positive anyway. Which is fair I think mostly. Werner brothers are not good for it though
Andy Serkis is amazing as Gollum but a little goes a long way. I fear this film will be a Serkis/Gollum vehicle and it'll be too much Gollum for me.
Once again, an awesome video ❤
Just to let everyone know UA-cam threw out WB's copyright strike again "The Hunt for Gollum" fan movie and it is now back up.
Idk how I feel about the hunt for gollum exactly just yet but I definitely would love to see the story of huan and chacoroth on the big screen
I would love to know more about Gollum.
We need a movie about the first age..
The simirilian has plenty of lore,
Morgoth!! 🔥
The Tolkein Society will never give over the rights
Having a million better settings for a different movies, why Gollum?
Random Gollum-based things that no one asked for has historically never ever been a bad idea.
I'm committing arson if it has a post-credit sequel teaser at the Council of Elrond with Aragorn finishing his story with "and that's how we captured Gollum. Good thing he's locked up in Mirkwood, right, Legolas?" and then Legolas goes "yeah about that".
Will Ian mckellan and vigo return in this movie?!??
Robert Aramayo will be cast as both Elrond and a younger Boromir, again standing in for a young Sean Bean.
I am happy about a new LOTR movie, but in the same time I am kind of scared that they are going to messed up this.
Every time I read the part "... I was glad to be rid of his company for he stank" i laugh
Can we get a video hypothesizing what would have happen had isildur destroyed the one ring.
Think my only issue will be if they recast the actors we already know. If they do, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as long as it's written and made well enough. It's Warner Bros. So hopefully it's as far from being like Ring of Power as possible.
My excitement is building
I with we would have gotten a few movies on the last alliance. Or the making of the ring . Instead of what we got with HBO
there's a fan made film back in 2009
i do not feel Peter Jackson has enough content to work with if he just focuses on the hunt for Gollum; imo he would be better served getting the rights to say The Simarillion or something and adapting that .
Viggo has to be in the movie for it to work
This could be good, even considering how much would have to be made up.
Watch the fanfilm born of hope as well if you can. :) it is tremendeous😊
There's so little to this story though 😕. I'm not saying it's not possible to make a movie out of it, but we're talking like 90 - 120 minutes at a maximum. And thats already considering a large amount of fluff.
So, one movie to rule them all, One movie to find them, one movie to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
As much as I don’t want to say this, mainstream is lamestream.
Seems thin in scope
My big question: WHY did Gollum "turn toward Mordor"?
This series will be foundational in telling the story of LoTR. VERY excited for it
i think seeing a bigger budget telling would be nice. but not at the cost of the fan film that was done.
The point is…
In LoTR they used 90% Tolkien material and 10% own inventions.. like legolas doing Skate board landing in Helms deep and those akulla in in the army of death…
In the Hobbit they used 50% Tolkien material and 50% own inventions like barrel fight….
In these new movies they have less than 1% Tolkien material and more than 99% own inventions….
Sounds good… right… 😂
What does shame and disgrace to copyright strike Hunt for Gollum Fan film.
Just make a 1st age Trilogy and 2nd age Trilogy. PJ & team produce it but have 2 different director's maybe?
Not enough information given by Tolkien about Gollum to make a movie or series. Nevertheless, I think it would be quite interesting and personally would watch the movie.
uhh... the amount of things happening in this time is substantial. foundational to a lot of the story that we see in LoTR. This will very much be LoTR's prequel series (like the starwars prequels)
@@hudsonb631 Most of things that happens between Bilbos Brithday and Frodo start of the journey is from Unfinished Tales, Nazguls meeting Saruman and Grima
Someone didn't read the books
Did Bilbo know that the ring he possessed was The One Ring? Cus if so, Gandalf could have just pressured Bilbo to tell him instead of hunting Gollum.
Gandalf knew Bilbo had "a" ring, when he pressed him after the events of the party his suspicion grew. It was almost 15 years later when he learned of the information he needed to test the ring.
No, Bilbo did not know that his ring was at all important until after he settled down in Rivendell.
@@misterbplays thank you 😊
@otaku-sempai2197 thank you 😊
I think this is a bad move, and a bad idea for an entire movie.
Stop blaming PJ for Hobbit. He came in late. It was not HIS fault
Why?....is he broke or just greedy as fok.
I'm looking forward to it. More middle earth!
How do you copyright something that came before you 😂
I am always up for a good visual telling of Middle Earth story, but the visual storytelling has to be there too.
The Hunt for Profit, How dare they try to strike it!!!!!
Who will be Gollum's love interests in the TRIANGLE; Dirty Goblinsesses & Juicy Sweet Fish????
The absolute audacity to copyright strike "The Hunt for Gollum", and a large number of people DEFENDING Warner Bros takes the cake. I haven't seen a community with a bigger Stockholm Syndrome. (Not talking about this channel, but communities all over).
Glad its not amazon or disney making this.
Why cant we get a movie set in the first age with morgoth directed by jackson with fingolfin , finrod , Ungoliant , balrogs , dragons , elves being twisted into orcs ect that would make alot of money 💰 they could make a trilogy of that age
Tolkien society won't give anyone the rights for the text.
@@MeemBaay111 that's a shame
At the end of the hobbit Legolas gets sent north to find Aragorn could they potentially explore this story line what are your thoughts?
Didn’t happen. Nothing to explore.
WTF, Gollum Fell In The River of Fire ! These People Will Do Anything For $$$ !
This is set before that.....stupid comment
Gollum is already dead & gone. Why would they hunt them ?
Should be the hunt of morgoth would be ten times better
But why?? I really don't think I would watch this movie.
This Film better Be Good, they better take there time with this compared to the Hobbit.
i think we should take tolkienist literature like shakespeare, how we see different temporal renditions within production. it would be interesting to see what a modern lord of the rings story set in our current time would be like
el queso de jollum
Why would anyone waste time watching anything peter jackson touches after what he did to the hobbit movies? Anyone who is a true fan of tolkien will never forgive jackson for those 3 abominations. I'd rather eat my own sick.
Unfinished Tales is awesome !
