Welcome to the official Travel Beans UA-cam channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

I'm living in the Black Forest. And for me, the most beautyfull time is late autumn. The colorfull leaves and foggy days gives this time a very special feeling.
i am from the ruhrgebiet, and when i was 5-6years old my parents started driving to the black forest over the autumn holidays till i was around 15... its a really great area to spent your holidays in during that time
Me too, and just a few weeks ago I was at the restaurant in Freudenstadt they were at
@Paddy O Maybe you should have a look on the Camping sites around Schluchsee. Village and Lake have the same name.
Paddy O yes Schluchsee like she said but there’s also Titisee, they have a lovely campground and the village is touristy but I thought I’d mention it because everyone I’ve taken there seems to love it! You can hop on the train there to go for a day trip to Freiburg (40 min ride) I wouldn’t drive there. We get a free Konus card to use for buses and trains when we stay at a gasthouse so maybe u can get it at a campground too. The red train that runs all thru this area is Höllentalbahn, wonderful scenery for when u want a break from driving.
If I ask you your top 5 places in the Schwarzwald, what would you say?
This reminds me of the summer in the 1960s when my parents drove us 6 kids around Europe in the VW van. As we were driving through the Black Forest, my sister and I were arguing in the back seat. My Dad said, "Girls, look where we are! See if you can see Hansel and Gretel." After that, we looked intently out the window searching for the witch's gingerbread house.
That's awesome. I'm sure it's out there, somewhere hidden deep in that mythical forest. But I tend to stay on the road. Better that way.
I am from the Black Forest xD it's great to see other people explore these woods that I used to play in as a kid. it was just kinda normal but you are right we should appreciate the nature where ever we are because there is beauty everywhere to be found.
you should visit Freiburg, it is a city a little bit further south at the edge of the Black Forest. It is the sunniest city in Germany and is very unique and has great vibes.
I just checked my DNA results, and just realized that the German part of my ancestry came from this region. So cool! I want to go there even more now!
oh well these DNA profiles are quite a lot of BS,... it can't pinpoint it that detailed,... you can maybe get a general direction
I am live in black forest
If you find yourselves on the east side of the US check out the Blue Ridge Parkway and be sure to stop off in the city of Asheville.
Living vicariously through your videos. Our trip to Germany was cancelled due to the plague, can't wait to get back there.
I live near Frankfurt, which was hugely destroyed at the end of ww2. But small cities around are frozen in time. Just stunning.
Are you from Deutschland
I was born in Heidelberg. I live in America now, have been back many times, though. Such a small country and yet so much beauty.
I have watched too many travel vlogs. Some have millions of subs and others not so much. After all that I have found that you are so refreshing. I feel like you share what you are experiencing in your words and not trying to please your audience. Bonus is all the laughter and smiles. Makes everything so much better. Many thank you for sharing and please continue.
I am so happy that you both love Germany as much as I do. Thank you for sharing this beautiful landscape in the Black Forest with us. You are very close to Colmar and Strassburg, a quick trip through the Elsass is amazing. Quaint towns, great food and wine!! Safe travels and be well.
Yes, Strasbourg is a top choice.
I am so happy that you like it in Germany! Thanks for your enthusiasm! Many safe and happy travels to you two! Greetings from Berlin!
one of my all time fave roadtrips was the Great Ocean Road in Australia. Seeing this video of you driving along with that scenery, the sun shining and wind in your hair "feeling free" - it took me back!
the black forest in summer is just amazing - nice views and its not too hot so its just perfect
but what i like even more is when you come in autum and you are out with the last hour of sunlight, it gets foggy maybe a small rain starts and you walk around the outsides of a smaller vilage maybe even go into the forest - thats just magical but dont forget your hot tea when you come back because that just makes the experience
A German "Nixe" is basically a mermaid and like mermaids often depicted with an upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Nixen (plural) are not only creatures of the sea, but can be also found in legends of rivers and lakes.
I want to gooooo!!!!!!! Great Vlog. I miss you two.
We miss you too!! 💛 Will definitely come visit when travel to the US is normal again!
well - go ! if u prove a negative test you can enter gemany as far as i know..- ill travel germany in 2 weeks too ( wee since im german it wont be a problem for me, but still- its possible for you) best wishes and see ya on the road :)
Ash! Do I know you? 😃
You guys did it again! We are in Bavaria atm because of your vlog, and now we found our next destination. After another few more days in the Alps we are off to the blackforrest! Thanks guys!
Lovely video as always. Like your German road trip a lot. Germany is a nice country to visit. Have been there couple of times.
Wow, what a picturesque road. Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks meaghan 😁🙏
My next trip destination 🥰
Extremely thanks for sharing this informative video .
Great Vlog! Love the Travel Beans!❤️
Beautiful tour. You guys are lots of fun. Thx for sharing.
the Aar strecke between wiesbaden and Diez in Germany is lovely as well
2 beautiful and authentic souls. Great video thank you ❤
Schönes Video,
wir bereisen die ganze Welt und wissen oft nicht wie schön es vor der eigenen Tür ist! Mein nächster Trip geht in den Schwarzwald!
Liebe Grüße aus Cologne, Germany
You need a spa day in Badén Badén, it’s brilliant
You need to go to the Casino... I'm not sure what kind of person you'd have to be to feel "at home"... But you have to be properly overconfident and nouveau riche OR actual European nobility to not feel inappropriate there :D
Very beautiful place, thank you for taking us to see this place
Honestly? Ive living for 30~ years in Germany. but never been to the Black forest. After seeing this, ive seriously considerying this - ty! as u both said, the beauty is right beneath your window (sometimes)
The Black Forest is stunning! I'm going to have to follow your route through it and try that cake too. Favorite road trips: anytime I've driven through the Canadian or American Rockies and in Kenya from the Mt. Kenya highlands then west through the Rift Valley.
I just found this channel and im so glad. You two are very charming and informative
I chanced upon your vlog by accident some months back and now i am hooked and i eagerly await your next video all the time.
What a beautiful movie about one of the most beautiful parts of Germany. Thanks
When you are back in the U.S. - one of my favorite road trips is the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Mississippi - beautiful nature, waterfalls and trails, Native American mounds, and even Elvis’s childhood home in Tupelo. Great trip in autumn or spring.
Amazing forest. Thanks for sharing!
Travel Beans your videos are work of art 👏
Arrábida, Portugal. One of the most beautiful coastline roads in the world!
If you come to the US you need to do the Redwood Highway from Grant’s Pass Oregon to Crescent City, Ca. Epic river views, mountains, the Giant Redwoods tallest trees in the world, (many over 110 meters)and the Pacific Coast at the end- epically beautiful.
Beautiful waterfall, reminds of gnomes and underground barrel rides by Baggins, Tolkien
sounds like an amazing place! Definitely sold me on this.
Brilliant. I have been 6 times to the Black Forest. It's so Peaceful and Therapeutical.
Hope you had time to enjoy Baden Baden. It's one of the most beautiful spa towns ever. If its open, go to the Caracalla Therme Spa and you have to check out the casino and the walk up the mountain is amazing! Another great little town to visit is Strasbourg. It's part of France now but was part of Germany. The. great thing about this town is the German Architecture mixed in with the French culture and food.
Our fellow british friends are always welcome in Germany. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.I have a plan to go Berlin next week and this video very helpful for me to spend one day at Black forest. Thank you from Pakistan.
You guys are on an absolute roll . 😊😊😊 Saw Stuttgart on the map you showed ..i mentioned after the last vlog that I have family roots there. Regardless of your plans , I am along for the ride and enjoying every mile😃
❤️ you guys! Thanks for the great content!
Thanks Joseph!
Saying Mummelsee -lake is kind of redundant, because See in german means lake, so its basically Mummellake-lake :D
And M"u"mmelsee will be pronounced with an "u" like in b"u"tcher ;-)
The Black Forest gets its name from its canopy of evergreens. Great travel guide
If you are in Black forest again, you have to visit the schluchsee, which is the biggest lake in Black Forest, and climb one of the southern mountain like the Belchen or the Herzogenhorn!
AufsMaulwurf the Schluchsee is such a disappointment, there are many other places, better places to visit in the black forest.
@@kingozymandias2988 you need to know the right spots around the schluchsee...
AufsMaulwurf it takes one hour to walk around, where are these "secret" stops?
@@kingozymandias2988 are you sure you are talking about schluchsee? It is very big, about 18km around and there are some beautiful cliffs and hidden beaches
AufsMaulwurf 🤔🤔🤔well...obviously I'm wrong
I love Germany 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ hope someday i can visit Germany 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You‘re very welcome
Smashing out the vlogs, loving the drone shots
Thanks Dicko!! 😁
Another great video, thank you so much. I live near the Black Forest, I will maybe go there.
Great blog! Thanks both of you. I hope someday I can visit Germany and obviously in the Black Forest!
My most embarrassing encounter was in the black forest. 🥵🥶
I live near Baden Baden and it’s very fun to see people enjoy my home and it’s benefits from a different perspective
Enjoyed the vlog!
My favorite road trip of from Munich to Salzburg it was as good as the one you tried in the black forest
Love your video, Beautiful!!! ... Thanks!!! Hey, Ya'll should come to Florida, USA.
Thank you for sharing your video! I really enjoyed it. Here in Roanoke, Virginia USA, we just ate at a German restaurant with cuisine from the Black Forrest region. So, I was inspired to look up Black Forrest. If I happen in Germany, would love to go!
One of our favorite drives is the California Coast from New Port Oregon to San Diego California- absolutely beautiful!
My favorite german legend has to be the Lake of Frau Holle. It's in the very north of Hesse and at the bottom of the pond Frau Holle's land is, people said. Why? Because nobody could ever figure out how deep this little pond is. In Hesse you can see so many things the Brothers Grimm have seen or been to. From Hanau to the country side around Steinau an der Strasse, they lived, worked and travelled. Many museums give credit to their work, so if the brother Grimm are your thing, you need to come!
best video ever
If he doesnt Like black forest cake. Your meat obsessed Guy would Love black forest ham. Its my absolute favorite ham
At least thx for Sharing u experience of my Homeland. Good to see ull enjoy it.
My place of awe is in nature walking through a forest but my place of peace and serenity is the beach. That cake looked amazing and then you said you could taste the alcohol....what! Girl I am sold!! Need to try!😁
great vid guys!
Ein schönes Video ♥
Liebe Grüße aus Baden Württemberg ⬛🟨
My favorite road trip was through Andalucia region in Spain. Starting in Malaga then going through Ronda, Gibraltar, Seville, Cordova, and up to Madrid.
This is natural beautiful clean video bro love you bro
A drive down the Florida Keys is a nice trip, Key West was a great weekend. Swimming, snorkeling, lots to do.
Thanks alot will definitely visit the Abbey and waterfall and blick after my broken legs has healed after sledging in the BF !! Great place for snowshoeing however and safer than sledging ! So many trails to follow good one is Weidner Eck to Belchen
My best road trip was on Iceland. Highly recommend for its unusual nature.
Pacific Coast Highway between Santa Barbara and Monterey. I have driven it many times, but only twice with perfect weather. Emma, this is NOT a fun drive if you suffer from motion sickness. There are many, many hairpin turns. But, oh my, the scenery, the fresh air (maybe not so much right now with the fires) and the views. It's just wonderful!
We have a Black Forest State Park in Pennsylvania. It has a 42 mile loop path and is great for backpacking. I could really sense the love and pleasure you get from being out in nature. I sense that love that as well.
Instead of driving down the B500 which is boring, sway down on the smaller roads doing an S shape route from left to right, crossing the B500 a couple of times. Gaggenau, Gernsbach, Wolfach, Schiltach, Schramberg, Hornberg, Gutach, Titisee, Feldberg, Todtnau, Todtmoos, Kandern Schluchsee, ...
You're right B500 is just boring.
Wonderful
Amazing
Served in the British Army. and we worked in the black forest. making fire breaks in the forests and updating foot bridges. which you probably walked over. its a great place. people were very nice
Very nice video, your editing skills/voice over are going through the roof !
As to answer your question about "what is "your all", for me it s diverse but always linked to nature.
it can be as simple as walking barefoot in the grass full of morning dew, being the only vertical link walking between immense sky and flat earth, feel the wind tangle my hair, or more "special" like to curl up in the sea as the waves or currents craddle me, or marvel at flora/fauna wildlife business and neverstopping matters.
I live in BC Canada and my favourite road trip is down Highway 101 from Washington State to San Diego, we have done it many times over a 30 day period...slow road down and freeway back home...
Oregon coastline is amazing along the 101!!
In South Africa from Cape Town up the N7 all the way to Springbok continuing into Namibia. Will be the best holiday of your life.
very beautiful
Great to see you enjoying the scenery in Black Forest. I live in Tübingen, a very beautiful university town not far from there. I own an old VW T3 Syncro and love going on road trips. So if you ever wanna come to the are again and need someone to show you around, please let me know!
Heute nice sharing 💜💜💜👍
We loved hwy 101 between Oregon and San Francisco. We preferred it to the lower half of 101 between SF and LA (because redwoods!). BUT!!! If you like water and you like road trips... We loved route 132 in the Gaspésie region of Québec, Canada. It hugs the ocean so close that when the waves crashed against the rocks, we ended up with water in our laps (we probably should have put the top up on our Mazda MX5 - but that's no fun!). If it's not too much like home, the maritime provinces of Canada are really picturesque. If I only had a short while, I'd drive the Gaspésie and Prince Edward Island (though some might say the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia). Love the road trips!!! Esp. in a convertible. Anthony
So beautiful . It reminds me of Oregon. Are the trees pines?? they look more like some type of fir. I love to hear about the birds, but would also love if you could talk about flowers , plants, and trees.
One of our favourite holidays ever was we drove from Sydney to Cooktown and back over 3 1/2 weeks. We went inland first through outback Queensland, drove to Port Douglas, stayed there for a few days and from there did a day trip to Cooktown. Then we drove all the way down the east coast all the way back to Sydney. Did this staying in accommodation along the way. Our family loved it so much! Want to do another one soon! Waiting for state borders in Australia to reopen!
We also just roadtripped most of the South Island of NZ last January. Another fantastic trip.
I stayed there a long time ago, it's a beautiful region.
Glad you made that trip brought back lots of memories! 70s 80s squirrels are fox squirrels
Breweries and wineries of Bohemia and Moravia for a road trip is on my bucket list
Lots of great road trips in the US. Classics like the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Oregon and countless routes through the Rocky Mountains, as well as lesser known routes, in New England and the Carolinas.
As an American who has never been to Germany I have to protest the paucity of sausage eating in your recent videos. I know they're better than anything thing I can get here so watching your pleasure eating them is the next best thing. Oh, and the scenery is great too.
Fabulous video! We just did a road trip through the beautiful state Tennessee USA! You’ll love the people and the food! Lots of pork bbq! Ha! 😍
I was blown away by the advertising in front of your video (of course from your video too). But I'm from Münsterland a region in north-west Germany and the advertising was about to travel to Münsterland. Didn't know that my region has this kind of advertising. So, now it is easy for me to mention a destination for a road trip: of course it is Münsterland. And if you want to do it like a true Münsterländer you make this road trip by bike. Don't miss all the Wasserschlösser (castles surrounded by water) that are typical for this region and of course the beautiful capital of this region Münster with the Prinzipalmarkt.
Our favourite road trip (if you can call it a road trip) was hitchhiking 23,000 kilometres from Thailand to Spain. Many cars, many adventures and lots of nature 😊
Now we’re converting a van in Spain and are hoping for lots of cool road trips around Europe next year.
When are you planning on building your home on wheels? Maybe we’ll do a road trip together next year 😊😊😊
Great video of my home area :) miss it.
Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Great video 😜
Great great job bro and love you bro
Always best beautiful sweet very very nice wonderful video bro and love you bro
Fabulous adventure 😊
Nice video thank you for share. I hope i can go to the black Forest in Oktober.
Great tour.
In Canada a small feminine car is called a 'Tupperware car.' We have 2 favourite road trips. 1) Scotland, we did Kintyre Peninsula to Skye to Stirling. It was spectacular. 2) Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Go from Vancouver to Victoria then up the coast of the island.-Shawna🍁
Awesome
