    Replaced the timing belt, associated tensioner, pulleys, and water pump (complete kit, Dayco WPK) on a 2007 Hyudai V6 Santa Fe this past weekend using your video as a guide. Worked great!! Also found the crankshaft seal was leaking and replaced it as long as everything was already apart. We left the cam shaft seals as is based on advice from local mechanic friend.
    We removed the 3 power steering pump mounting bolts and placed the pump on top of engine to get more working space. Thanks for your great video!! Don''t think I could have done it without your help.

    Thank you for your video, helped out a lot. I have just one question, do I need gasket sealer for the water pump gasket?

    A tip: Put a breaker bar and socket on the tensioner pulley before releasing the new tensioner assembly. You can then simulate the belt tension before committing the tensioner, and check and revise the belt timing easily if needed. A second person is best to help with this.

    Fantastic video! Could you provide some more details on that seal puller and installer? I clicked the link you provided in the "More info" section, but it doesn't seem to be working. (takes me to the generic top level page on Amazon for car parts.) I'd like to take a closer look at that puller! Looks awesome. Thanks so much for the vid. Will be doing this replacement on my Father's SF in the near future.

    How did you hold the crankshaft pulley to apply 138 ft lbs to crankshaft bolt? Any tool recommendation?

    Can the oil pump be taken-off and replaced during this as well? Or the oil pan needs to be removed for the oil pickup/filter to be disconnected? Car is getting close to 200k miles and wanted to do it as a good measure.

    Quick question because I have this same engine in my 2002 optima. My rear cam which are cylinders 1,3,5 goes to its timing mark and stays yet my front cam gear has a little play in it like you can wiggle it back and forward. My question is how did the cam gear feel when you set the timing?

    • @fixingcarsandstuff
      @fixingcarsandstuff  9 років тому

      +Darriel Jackson I think it just happens to be where the cam lobes sit, so one staying put and one that moves a bit is fairly normal.

    If replacing only the timing belt and not the water pump is the removal of the motor mount still necessary or is possible to change the belt around it? Thanks

      There are a lot of work in this.... so while you have it apart it is not much more to replace the water pump and should be done anyway.

    I was told by the service dept. my local Hyundai dealership that the water pump does not need replaced because it is a separate and not ran by the timing belt....for my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7. Could they be mistaken?

    • @pesuazo7713
      @pesuazo7713 5 років тому

      Most likely they are mistaken....looking at this video, it is obvious the timing belt runs the water pump

    If he took off the main timing belt sprocket below, how does he know which position to put it back in?

    • @GhostLoveToast
      @GhostLoveToast 2 роки тому

      Easy. He lined up the marks on the sprocket when the bolt was still in to top dead center. So to put it back on the right way he just needed to line the sprocket back up in the same spot using the marks before putting the pulley and bolt back on. I know this is a late reply but yeah.

    • @Luckingsworth
      @Luckingsworth 5 років тому

      It's a year late lol but yes, all Hyundai are interference engine so you are gonna be fucked if you let this snap. Maybe you got lucky. But in general as soon as the timing is off its gonna destroy itself.

      He cant help it because of the way that the engines are mounted in the CM generation of the Santa Fe's the engine is mounted sideways because its a front wheel drive I own a 2008 and I was watching this to see if he was going to show a serpentine belt removal as i need to replace mine and i've never done it before

      They have to line up, don't run the motor if they don't line up. Take it apart and get them right, no other option.
