This is exactly what I'm doing - Water Pump, Timing belt, tensioner and idler pully... Except My motor blew up so Im doing it to a 112k mile replacement motor on a stand before I drop it in! Also doing axles, radiator, hoses, thermostat, starter, alternator... I dont want any issues for 5 + years!
Good vid. Doing this exact job right now. My OCD forces me to point out that that is not an oil slinger. It's a dust cover. haha With a new spring, I suppose you can trust it to self tension the t belt. Mine didn't come with a new one, so I manually tightened it. The spring was too tired to trust. I very much prefer the older style of self tensioners, but installation required a long bolt tool to preload. Without it, the belt WILL jump.

I'm about to perform this timing g jib on my mom's car, found the kit a few bucks cheaper on rockauto. But same good quality kit. Thank you for the video I feel confident now that yoy explained the marks amd how to get them lined up.
Do you have any info on getting the tensioner off the AC belt? I thought it was just like the tensioner on the alternator and I would be able to just loosen the bolt but it doesn’t appear to be. Trying to put a new compressor on and need to get that belt off. Thank you in advance.
How’d you get the crankshaft bolt off without messing up the timing? Cause i see it cut and jumped fast forward. Can i just use a impact to get it off?
Appreciate your detailed video. Thank you. I compiled a step-by-step instruction sheet for our 2009 Accent. My impact wrench could not remove the 22mm crank bolt; had to get a pulley holder tool. The teeth on the timing belt were dry-rotted and fell off, then the crank gear spun. Arizona summers did not help. As you know, engine is interference. Lucked out. Engine started instantly, idled fine and runs good. Dodged that bullet.
Hey! I have an '11 GLS, died on the road, Timing Belt was destroyed. Changed the timing belt, made sure the cam and crank were tdc, changed the coils, and the cam sensor but I have no spark. Engine turns over and cam does too. I'm going to check the voltage with a multimeter on each coil but when I checked it out of the chamber it sparked after turning over a few times. After I was going to take the valve cover off to check if the valves are engaging before I remove the head. Help?
the second I got everything locked down & lined up with the new belt done, Id wanna start it for 5 seconds , then continue putting the little stuff back.
My belt is at 93k & the stress is real driving it. Eevry time I start the car to go anywhere, The thoughts enter my mind .........this may be my last drive in this car. Plan on doing this job in 2 weeks, In the mean time I want a complete List of EVERY tool needed to do the job. nearly impossible to actually get that info. even in the Hyundai accent FB group, one guy said I need an 8mm a 12mm & a 17mm 🤣
One of the best instructional videos I've watched on UA-cam. Thankyou for sharing.

Nice video thanks for taking the time to do it.

Good day, so you applied sealant to the gasket, and applied it to the water pump?
Did you apply sealant to the area where the pump attaches to?
It was not sealant. It was bearing grease so that we could tell the all of the water pump bolts were tightened properly.
with all the simplicity i still love that car.
engine reliability can be upped though
It's a pretty good little car.

I currently do not this car did not have AC in it.
Are both of the pulleys considered the water pump pulley?
Yeah, there are two different pullies on that water pump.
How’d you get the crankshaft bolt off without messing up the timing? Cause i see it cut and jumped fast forward.
Can i just use a impact to get it off?
We may have used an impact to get it off.
Appreciate your detailed video. Thank you.

Thanks great! Yeah, if this timing belts snaps it can implode the engine.
How has this car held up? Do you enjoy it?
It has held up great! It also gets great gas mileage and I have enjoyed it

Sorry just saw this question.
Im confused? I have a 2009 accent and the engine cover has DOHC 16V on it.
its a 1.6 but im only seeing 1cam on this car
should be the same engine as this one
How do you know if the crank sensor is bad
It was throwing a code
I had this problem, your car will stall and other fun things !

So probably should let my mechanic do this instead of attempting by myself to save a few hundred bucks? :p
It's not a cheap job. I think I was quoted about 700 for it?
It's not too hard to do just takes a little time.
