No Need to boil it just crush the Garlic and let it soak for a day in a couple of cupfuls of water in a dark place. then strain off the solids and make up to a gallon can use once every two week as a preventative or once a week for a treatment for attacked plants until infestation has gone but dont over use it. Can be stored in the fridge once made up to a gallon . You can add a little chili powder or cayenne pepper to the mix
I looked for your Sunday in the garden from 6 yrs ago. Can you tell me if your garlic water worked and if it did, how often were you spraying? Also you mentioned adding Epsom salt..how much did you use. Thanks for your help
I just filled a jar with water & filled it with peeled garlic. Left it for a month or so. Yes, it stinks. Brilliant. It's said to be efficient against rodents as well. Originally I made it for that purpose. It worked only partially for that for me. There's some leftover here (a few months old juice by now). Will see if it works on slugs, perhaps? Never tried before
After straining the garlic juice through the metal strainer, I would recommend filtering the juice through a cloth strainer, such as several layers of cheese cloth and filter it a few times. If you don't, you may clog your sprayer and it only takes one tiny piece to clog it up. I can attest that the garlic spray is very effective at keeping the critters away. I use raw uncooked garlic.
@@TYBritton I make it fairly concentrated. I use four big heads of garlic, not four cloves, but four heads, mixed in 32oz of water. I put the garlic and water in a blender and after it is mixed well, I then proceed with the straining process to get all of the pulp out.
I did mine a bit differently: I sun dried the garlic cloves (skinned), and then ground them into a powder with a grain mill; then let them ferment for 2 weeks, and then put them in cold water. They dissolved into the water. No boiling/cooking needed. Enzymes and bacteria in tact. It stunk. The question is now: does it really work? It's difficult to see if it has really worked or not. I know that it absolutely did not work for black fly on broad beans.
That method makes a lot of sense to me, thank you for sharing it! Too bad it didn't work on those black fly for ya. :-( Thanks for the new method to try!
Looking forward to the results. I wonder what would happen if you added part of a ghost pepper to the mix. I'm sure Chox would not mind forfeiting one in the name of science. Maybe pull some aphids off and try it away from your peppers? Are you going to start growing Garlic too ? ;-)
Growing some garlic wouldn't be a bad idea, we do use a fair bit of it cooking anyway ... I'm sure Chox would be fine with avoiding those ghost peppers for a good long time, sadly they're already mixed into the 2017 powdered pepper blend and no longer available for those juices. Looks like that little plant is going to try and produce a few more, maybe then?
You can give it a try but I would probably avoid them if possible. Seems like that might make pollination difficult for the plant ... Thanks for watching!
I feel they are quite the little pests for that very reason. Soooo many seedlings taken down by pillbugs over the years. Have you seen the 'Accidental Pill Bug Trap' video I did a while back? Flip something made of smooth plastic upside down, they fall in and get stuck ...
I hope it works good for you, I'll have to check back and see. If the plants are outside you can just hose them off with the garden hose, but it's a little hard to do that inside.
hi there.. imma use this as a experiment for my chicken coop disinfectant to avoid Chicken Lice and Chicken Mites, do you mind if i use this garlic sprayer in my video that i will be posting on youtube? Don't worry i'll credit you :) :)
Go ahead but it's not my idea so no need to give any credit there. Let me know how it works out for you, I may just end up using it for our coop as well! Neat suggestion, thanks!
hi sir can I ask? How long does this spray last? Is it dangerous if you don't store it in refrigerator? Btw, I love the idea, thank you for the information
I've never tried it on any trees but I want to say yes ... Icing sugar, borax & baking soda mixed in a jar is what Chox uses on ants around here, that might work? Maybe ...
In the past I have used diluted dish soap but your video is timed right and will use the garlic this time which will be far more friendly for the plants, not to mention us:) Yes, good luck with your pepper plants as well!
Any time you want to take that anti-bug garlic spray and spray down my pizzas, ... it would make sure no bugs are on my eats. Could even use dandelion juice (bitterness) or diluted peppermint essential oil (known anti-bug, anti-skeeter oil) would stop those sugar-eating aphids, white flies, lacewings, etc. Could (since you are inhouse) just make some essential citronella or mint oil candles and burn near the plants, known anti-bug and skeeter smoking and gas them out.
Peppermint oil, never even thought of that one! Wouldn't be comfortable leaving a candle burning down there, but an interesting suggestion all the same!
Doesn't need to be a bonfire, only a few candles, and put inside a glass candle holder or a safe and stable lantern glass chimney (do you have the old white gas lanterns and drop essential oils into the mix and wick burns the oil into aroma .... bug aromatherapy. Make just like a citronella spiral stick smoldering keeps mosquitoes away up to 10-15 feet. It is the oil aroma that they can't stand, like campfire, and wood smoke aroma that skeeters fly away - can't breathe with their tiny lungs - they asphyxiate and die - or fly away. Same purpose here. aerial bug gassing, but the aroma is more pleasant to humans, and breathable as well - peppermint opens up the sinus/lungs, ... and citronella is orange oil. Ancestral treatment of houses the same as new technology or orange oil bug treatment of houses - all organic - clean smelling - and deadly for bugs.
Really interested to see how this works out. Heard of it already as well as the pepper and mint and soap ways, but interesting to see just it as it is with garlic only as a option and the test and results as well. Most everything I have seen on this just says do it this way with these 2-3 things and ta-da, no results shown. I am intrigued by it mostly because seeing the results in action good or bad and Occam's Razor and all. Simple, easy, single ingredient and openly accessible to everyone. Am pretty sure it will work, but if it does I ask that perhaps you may try the pepper/mint ways as solo experiments. My curiosity is on which way is easiest and best results. Thanks for the share!
I was already going to try a hot pepper spray once this runs out but it seems to be working so far. Not a 100% kill but WAY less of them every day so there may be eggs involved. The mint spray sounds like a great idea as well, if it takes a third try then I guess I know what I'll use!
I was going to ask how you made the garlic spray. I can't wait to see how this will turn out. Will this harm ladybugs after it drys? Also I hear of people spraying their plants at night and then rinsing them off in the morning to help protect ladybugs and other beneficials. Thanks for sharing :)
I've still seen a couple of ladybugs around the dungeon so I don't think it's doing them too much damage. Not sure it's having as much effect on the aphids as I was hoping though. Might be time to try a new attack! :-)
Off camera, once I could use both hands, I soaked those plants. Like ... soaked. Stems, tops, bottoms, soil, planters. The basement smelt like a cheap Italian restaurant for ages!

Does it work? I'm looking for results, not hopes and guesses and lore. Has anyone done trials or studies? Thanks!
Does this mixture get moldy and possibly infect the plant?

doesn't market garlic sometimes carry garlic rust? would garlic spray then potentially infect your growing areas with the garlic rust fungus?

Does this work to keep stray cats from pooping/urinating on your yard and garden?
Not really sure but worth a try!
Does this work for gnats?
Honestly not sure, sorry!

@@JTBear Yes true I have to careful,, should test a petal or two see how it is in 24 hours.
very easy 👍 i will try sir u have not mentioned frequency i mean to say once in 15 days ok
Thank for uploading ur video 🙏
Turns out that this didn't work for me, hope it works out better for you!
is it also a fungicide?, my new lychee plant is infected with brown spots all over.
is it have any proplem
Coats the leaves, be sure to wash it off after a day or two.

We have pill bugs on our garden. Are they pests, because the stems are gnawed off and sometimes completely cut off..
I feel they are quite the little pests for that very reason. Soooo many seedlings taken down by pillbugs over the years. Have you seen the 'Accidental Pill Bug Trap' video I did a while back? Flip something made of smooth plastic upside down, they fall in and get stuck ...
Ok thx
you can use tabacco too
interesting, I'll try and look into that.
tabacco is how tabacco mosaic virus enters squash and tomato plants. It happens when smokers touch the leaves of those plants.
Tobacco = heavy metals . I'd be careful
I hope it works good for you, I'll have to check back and see. If the plants are outside you can just hose them off with the garden hose, but it's a little hard to do that inside.
Can't even hose them off outside, still need to fix the outdoor faucet!
Dang man that sucks, you're in bad shape aren't you? Well hopefully the garlic spray works well for you.

Being garlic, I wouldn't store it for too long as it will most likely stink within a couple of days.
Hope it works for you!
I recently noticed lots of ants coming out of a trunk on my persimmon tree. Is this solution safe to pour inside the tree trunk?
I've never tried it on any trees but I want to say yes ...
Icing sugar, borax & baking soda mixed in a jar is what Chox uses on ants around here, that might work? Maybe ...
Thanks!
Borax will kill the tree
You can blend into more liquid form to strain in blender and have stronger pesticide
Thanks! This batch didn't work out as well as I would have liked, perhaps that's why!
@@JTBear It can be very thick and problem to spray. I heard someone dried garlic and ground into powder to mix. I haven't tried yet.
Is it also good for chicken
lol
@@JTBear I meant is it good for chicken mites! Can I spray it on chickens to get rid of insects from their feathers?
You should have said how much water to boil the garlic in.
agreed, apologies.
can it stop house flies...though I know flies are insects and not pests....can it?
I don't think this will work for houseflies but that's no reason to not try!
please how can it be preserve..
sadly, I don't know how to make it last a long time. I think it's a make it and use it type product ...
JT Bear OK sir thanks
Thanks John, will give it a try on my tomato plants that have fruit flies in the soil.
The impression I got was that the garlic would kill any/all garden insects. The truth of that is now being tested! Good luck to both of us!
