Even a guy earning 1 dollar in USA has to pay tax of 10 percent (range is from 0 dollar to 11k dollar) ,so each person is contributing in nation building but in India the tax pool is is just around 2 percent at max .

@@mamtasingh2703 I have been to the US. The roads are generally better, the air much cleaner, as is the water. The state of the remaining infra varies quite a bit, true - but in many big cities, it is still better than India.
I do agree about their healthcare system - it's in drastic need of fixes.

Bro gst introduce karaya gaya tha double taxation hatane ke liye magar abhi bhi double tax lag raha hai tha jaise ki let suppose buyer ne wholesaler se ek goods purchase kar ke laya 100 rs (cost) ka or usne uspe 18%gst (100*.18= 18) bhi payment Kiya then ab vo product laya 100 Ruppes ka us par usne apna 20 Ruppes ka profit lagaya aur usne customer ko becha 120 me jispe usne 18% gst charge Kiya ( 120*.18= 21.6) and he pay 3.6 to govt( 21.6 - 18(itc)) now customer bear the tax on sellers profit seller apne profit pe pgbp me tax pay kar raha hai.

Here's a list of taxes on some daily essentials before GST (Goods and Services Tax) and after GST:
Before GST (Pre-July 2017)
1. Food grains (rice, wheat, pulses): 5-6% VAT (Value-Added Tax) + 1-2% Central Sales Tax (CST)
2. Edible oils (coconut oil, mustard oil): 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST
3. Sugar: 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST
4. Tea: 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST
5. Coffee: 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST
6. Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo): 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST + 10-15% Excise Duty
7. Detergents: 12-15% VAT + 2-4% CST + 10-15% Excise Duty
After GST (Post-July 2017)
1. Food grains (rice, wheat, pulses): 0% GST (exempt)
2. Edible oils (coconut oil, mustard oil): 5% GST
3. Sugar: 5% GST
4. Tea: 5% GST
5. Coffee: 5% GST
6. Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo): 18% GST

Taxes should be on raw materials and then have a formula that takes various parameters like the final sales amount, processing etc. to decide the tax instead of bureaucrats classifying popcorns into basic and luxury. That would be an actual "simple" tax.

The Indian tax system is a very complex topic and lack of transparency makes it even harder for people to know it's being spent. No one likes to pay tax but the country needs tax to run and if we have honest direct tax payers then the indirect tax like GST can be brought down to 10% essential products.
