*A thing about nen is that it's not just the ants that can perceive it.* Animals in general are more sensitive to it, to the point some even manage to hide their presences with Zetsu without knowing Nen. That was shown in the Hunter Exam Arc when Gon does Zetsu while watching Hisoka by trying to mimic how an animal would stalk its prey.
*So, surprisingly enough, Nen comes more naturally to animals than to humans.* But you'd need human intelligence to develop techniques. The ants have both, which makes then the ultimate Nen user species.
Humans might also have higher Aura. Humans aren't that impressive as far as nutrition goes, but if we naturally have more Aura and that seems to be what the Queen finds delicious, then that might explain why the Queen finds even normal humans more delicious than normal animals.
Yea and to add to that, it seems Nen is tied to talent and/or human experience as well as zepile managed to put some nen into an object he worked hard for without awakening so I'm thinking just the sheer amount of living beings eaten to compile the generals gave them that much "talent" to spot nen
Finally, they realized who's Colt. Ah yes, btw the higher level ants can see/feel Nen because every living creature has aura anyway, so it's natural that due to the nature of the ants reproduction the strongest ones would inherently have more aura and the capacity to see and feel it, since they're a mix of many many humans.
The ants sensing Nen has more to do with them being animals by nature.
Animals are more sensitive to Nen. They drop hints of that all throughout the series. One of the clearer ones is from the Hunter Exam arc, when Gon manages to use Zetsu without knowing Nen by trying to conceal his presence like wild animal would.
Of course, though, actually knowingly applying Nen to techniques requires intelligence, which only sentient beings like humans can. But just perceiving it comes more naturally to beasts.
@@rafaelcalmon2858 yes I agree and that's pretty much what I implied when I said all creatures have aura.
Jesus, it took long enough. They also seem to have forgotten the explanation for why there's a bunch of different animals in NGL. I love Alicia and the editor guy, but it's worrying that they are just blanking on basic information. T_T Like, as long as they're having fun??? But I just feel like there's going to be a lot more confusion later on.
"whether we win or lose...hell lies ahead of us"
- the tagline for this arc, Not Gonna Lie
NGL
NGL either.
For the record the trigger warning isn’t for *that* (the ant is eating her)
Without giving much away, the show gets a lot bloodier
Lobotomy Kaisen but it's HxH
Lobotomy x Hunter
All this time i thought she was being eaten. It was fckn worse
The double episodes will help _immensely_ with how this arc slows down eventually
3 seconds per episode take it or leave it
@@Lolo1995-R And yet, the most glorious seconds ever to be told
You don't need to know nen to conceal your presence. Gon did it during the hunter exam, and they make it clear that wild animals do the same thing, so it's only natural that animals with strong survival instincts like the chimera ants would be naturally very good at it.
"fun" fact:
That morning ritual with putting
prey on a spike is actually real,
not just in this anime.
Also gon could use zetsu, the nen
technique to erase your presence,
before he knew nen. He learned
it because of how much time he
spent in the woods as a child.
Animals can use zetsu naturally.
That's why rammot could do it.
Penguins don't necessarily live near artic regions. They can be found at a lot of places next to oceans.
This is another world, penguin like creates could be anywhere. No explanation needed.
Just to be clear, Gon and Killua didn’t really do the intense crazy training that was required to learn nen the right way.
They did it quick and dirty. Wing essentially just gave them nen, and then they trained the individual techniques needed to become better nen users.
Edit:
Concealing your presence and sensing someone else’s are not inherently nen abilities.
Gon was able to do that before unlocking nen.
Also, I don’t know what kind of content warning you got, but the Chimera Ant isn’t doing anything other than eating Ponzu.
So…
@@HiImDaisy Yeah I was wondering if something went over my head when I watched that scene for the first time judging by the way they were reacting
The author was in a dark place when he made this arc, so be prepared.
He also redrew certain chapters when he started to recover.
Which chapters?
@@MDG-mykys
Can't remember, but basically he was so worn out he was drawing stick figures. His series was popular enough that he somehow got away with it and just redrew them later. Not sure if those redrawn chapters were sold or given free.
What are y’all on about? The ant is just eating her.
Yeah wtf
I love that the ants get all the best and worst parts of humanity, cranked to eleven, no longer hindered by the need to hide their traits from others. Their ingenuity and individualism, but also their hate and selfishness. Things that are almost antithetical to the ants, a hive-based society. I figured Colt is more ant-like, not only because he's an earlier generation, but because he's a reborn child. He doesn't have a lot of the prejudices or ideals the other ants do that came from adults, his family was his entire world and protecting them was his only job, so that extended to the hive and the queen when he became an ant.
Bihorn because he has two horns. BI = TWO. BI HORN. BIHORN.
I think the best comparison to why the Chimera Ants are able to use human-level nen pores immediately is to compare a human baby with a newborn ant (or most other animals, especially non-mammals). Human's take a great deal of time to develop even just elementary motor functions, while many animals have some degree of control almost immediately, and insects especially are often fully capable within minutes of reaching adult form (some are even as capable or more in their larval forms). This doesn't mean that they have the training or capacity that a human nen master would, but that the physiological component of the pores and muscles to handle the fundamentals of nen come easier to the ants, since instinctually perfecting the genetic physiology of other species is basically their whole deal.
Also, I think idolizing nen as a magic system distinct from other talents and unique to a small population is kinda missing the point, even without learning the fundamental techniques, Gon, Killua and most practiced talented people were using their body's natural reaction to nen as a sort of "sixth sense" and as part of their natural motions. The degree and capacity for deliberate nen use were the things that were "unlocked" through the blasting of their pores and training under Wing (and later Bisky).
Getting upset that newborn soldier ants have more basic nen capacity than like 90% of humans is just as silly as getting mad that they are all born more ripped and fit than like 90% of humans. Their physiology was literally designed to make use of the best of the absorbed species' genes (and all humans have the capacity for nen use in HxH, just not necessarily the same talent, just like all humans in the real world theoretically have the capacity to train to be body builders or athletes, but some are more genetically or hormonally predisposed to certain muscle distributions).
I do get that its an extremely convenient plot point to keep the power-scaling running at the same pace with characters that were almost literally born yesterday. However, it is still pretty consistent with the rules laid out by the rest of the world-building.
You dont just have a trigger warning, you'll get a whole survival book.
I don't fully understand why you think the chimera ants having nen is lame. I mean in terms of power scaling how else are the ants supposed to compete with our protagonists? It would either become the "Mundane Pest Control Arc" or Togashi would have had to pull some other convoluted power system out of his ass to make them relevent.
Also let's not forget that during the "Heaven's Arena Arc" Gon and Killua learned how to manipulate their aura WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER FINDING OUT WHAT NEN EVEN WAS. Just sayin'.
You’re kinda putting nen on a pedestal when it really wasn’t hard to learn for them at all. They were able to protect themselves with aura a few hours after learning it existed just because some dude poured his aura into them. It was explained that the way ppl usually learn nen in heavens arena is that they basically get their ass beat by other nen users and if they survive they can use aura now.
The way Gon and Killuanlearned it was a more unorthodox way. Most people learn it like Zushi and they master it over years of he’s training. I agree that it’s been put on a pedestal but at the same time I can see why since we mostly do focus on characters that do master it faster than any average person would. Remember that Leorio is still no where near the same level as Killua, Gon or Kurapika nor is Zushi, one of these started his nen training (we can assume at least) the same time as the others and the other was already in his training. Remember that Wing said that in terms of talent Zushi is one in 100.000 but Gon and Killua are one in 10.000.000.
To be precise, they have to be hit someone else's aura to cheat and forcefully awaken.
Just getting attacked or beat up wouldn't do much, especially as a nen user would pretty much have to try to not kill anyone with out.
And after the quick cheat, it still normally takes geniuses weeks-months to get the basics.
They explained it early on that people are using nen all the time and not even realizing they are doing it. It's what half the episode that they took down was about. Artist leaving traces of nen on the art they create. I'll leave it up to you on why they don't remember or never realized this in the first place and ended up with the assumptions they have.
Nen is natural energy they are nature
Ponzu's death really upset me when I first saw it.
The ant is eating her guys chill 😂 that’s all
in gyro's back story the 'youth' who broke his 2 proud facts grew up to be the blue guy from the hunter exam trick tower
youre just wrong lol. I dont even know how or where you got that.
The bee girl was just being eaten... still sucks but uh
I still love that for this rendition of the anime they changed two things:
1. Kite was originally in the very first chapter of the manga, and was a BIG influence on Gon's decision to go out and find Ging. This I consider a shortsighted mistake
2. Any and all romantic scenes between Ponzu and Pockle. Just so it would hurt just that bit more when they get brutalized. This I consider a cruel but effective fun little thing
You don't need nen to zetsu, Gon prove that at the exam, stalking hisoka.
Not gonna lie... double episode uploads are fire!
11:17 omg this scene was confusing af for me when i first watched it, i'm a spanish speaker so i watched it with subtitles in spanish and the thing is "reina" literally means "queen" in spanish, i think the name wasn't a coincidence and this was the reason, but reading the word "reina" being used to refer to both characters was confusing
Eso solo significa que no estabas escuchando lo que estaban diciendo
@@yuzmanito obviamente, porque aún no estaba tan acostumbrado al japonés (como la gran mayoría de quienes lo ven), ¿cuál es tu punto? Xd
DAMN I can see how that would totally confuse the heck out of you!
Narrator really said "Let me on the mic this season!"
We went from a Shōnen to a full-blown Seinen one of my favourite Arcs in HunterxHunter.
I they're finally starting to see just how dangerous the chimera ants are, but when they get "that," it will definitely solidify it
As a kid, I didn’t watch the chimera ant arc. Also as a kid, I thought Ponzu was soooo cool I was sad she wasn’t in the next arcs.
^ set up for the emotional trauma that happened to me when I decided to fully watch hxh
30:00 Why? Well there's a couple good reasons.
1) Certain animals store their kills up in trees.
2) It's scary as fuck and should distract the humans long enough to run up on them.
RIP Ponzu
Still waiting for the next episode :>>
I like that you guys are combining 2 episodes in 1 video! This arc is long but its so good can't wait to see you guys finish it
So they don't understand Nen yet...
10:00 yeah about that
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IN JUST 2 MORE DAYS OF DOUBLE EPISODES, WE ARE ABOUT TO SEE THIS SEASON GO CRAZY!!!
31:30 Gon, animals and assassins can use zetsu instinctively or subconsciously without having nen
(Mild spoilers)
They introduced Gyro too early in the anime and left out some crucial parts about him, notably that he and Gon will meet some time in the (far) future. Manga readers are still waiting for that to happen.
Yeah the ants are just built better than humans.
Shrikes are a real bird they have the nickname Butcher Bird
Shrikes are passerine birds known for their predatory behavior, where they catch and kill a variety of prey including insects, small vertebrates like mice, lizards, and even small birds. These birds are often referred to as “butcherbirds” due to their habit of impaling their prey on sharp objects like thorns, twigs and barbed wire. One well-known species of shrike is the Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus), which is nicknamed the “butcherbird” for its gruesome practice of impaling prey on thorns or wires.
Look up British animated series "Animals of Farthing Wood Season 1 (1993)" for an extremely graphic death of baby mice.
Gyro's backstory goes hard
20:25 we're in a hurry... let's take a few seconds to pose first
HxH bronke the unspoken anime rule, killing a cute girl who can fight
Oooo.. dont be too excited to see Gyro any time soon…
So, mild spoilers (not really... it's weird) - Gyro survives! Kinda.... in the manga, it's said he emerged from the queen and just walked off. He was never once under her control and now has a cool new Chimera Ant body (we never see it), he and Gon briefly cross paths, but neither were aware of the other, with the narrator confirming the two will eventually meet... Which may or may not ever happen in the story (it WILL happen in universe, hence why the narrator said it - but HxH did reach a natural end point that even the author thought about stopping at, only to keep going into the current manga arc)
It's believed by fans that if/when Gyro learns nen, he'd probably would be one of the most dangerous users, especially given his backstory and how it would min-max his stats - namely how he had such control to not make any sound during his sleep, how he is a natural leader, how he has the willpower to shrug off the Chimera Ant Queen instantly, etc... It sucks we may never see him again, but there are fans (like myself) who instantly fell in love with the character after so little screen time and information, hoping for a return!
The anime, at least to me, pointed Gyro becoming the Kings primary personality way back when I first watched it. I know that's not the case now, even if I haven't read the manga. But his relevance does come kinda out of left field were he not gonna be the King. Suppose it's kinda like Kites original introduction just to disappear for like 5 arcs.
@@iampotsataja I think the original idea was to have him be the main antagonist of either the arc right after the CA, or the villain after that - so instead of the current manga arc, maybe it was going to be something involving Gyro; maybe Togashi thought he'd get through the current arc much faster; who knows
personally, I love what we get of Gyro, it's just enough to really hype him up, but also feel satisfying just leaving him here
@@Armoraxis that makes sense, I'm also glad we got what we did
I loved how gyro was handled in the anime way better than the manga
Gyro is theoretically a much bigger part of the manga by a good bit
Emphasis on the theoretically
Ponzu's death was one of the most unnecessarily cruel death in this series. After just bringing her back too
so the thing with gyro, hes not black, the artstyle made it that way on purpose cuz youre supposed to see as little detail about him as humanly possible... weve STILL yet to see his actual appearance in later arcs, only clothing and conveniently placed darkness obscuring his actual face(along with his hands being in pockets)
OMG, all this time i thought Ponzu was killed and then eaten. It was worse. 😢
DOUBLE EPISODES I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS 😭
Let’s go! A double episode!
And here we are introduce to gyro
He definitely won’t come back…..right?
Right
Did he come back in the manga? I haven’t read the last 2 years or so of the manga.
@@HiImDaisy I haven't read any, but I've watched a fair bit of HxH content so I have an idea about what has gotten covered since. Obligatory spoiler warning.
No. I don't believe he has.
Correct, he won’t come back and his entire backstory was a waste of time. The manga will never get to that point and we all know it.
@@WolforNuva Damn. I saw someone say he was on the whale for some reason.
Nice that we are doing two episodes this time 👌
DOUBLE!!!!! It A DOUBLE!!!!!!!!!! I’ll be back after work!😊
19:44-20:01
Sad bees :(
2 episodes? Lets gooooo
heck yea 2 uploads lets goooo
Who will save us from the Kingdom of Predators… 6:13
Things are about to get fucked
You know what’s crazy is like, a regular ant from real life can carry like 10x its body weight, so just imagine regular ants but human sized, that’d already be terrifying enough even without the human genes & nen & shit 😭 but yeah omg at around this part when I was first watching when I was like 13, I had binged through the whole thing up till then in like less than a week, but when I got here I had to take a break for like a week because it got so nasty 😭 but yeah I hated that fucking spider man. pike & rammot definitely make my list of top 10 worst chimera ants tbh
Ohh we eating
We eating soo good
Yep, i told ya
I forget that blue hair girls name but does gon make a statment about it being her hat in the manga? Does anyone know?
We fai ing
Omg we're doing 2 episodes now?
Wait... why is the chimera ant eating Ponzu a trigger warning?
it isn't
@@xzkilerymax8395
They treated it as such, and enough people tried to warn them about it for it to be.
@@OtakuJuanma2 that wasn't a tw the reason why they thought it was because they thought that chimera ant was doing something else though lmao
Beastars looking different here
The next episode
The anime kinda shortened gyro backstory
Never really noticed that but yeah, where the hell did they get a penguin from
Day 284 of asking Alicia to play Nier:Automata!!
Guys, don’t spoil in the comments.
Yikes I guess you won't be liking the rest of this arc then.
17:22 Enjoy this Zazan design, it won't last long
Can you watch Ultraman Blazar?
Nah, this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of trigger warnings, glad to see double episodes happening.
this arc don't play!
