I actually had the feeling that it was the other way around, at least that's how yoongi sees it it seems?! That SUGA is getting to greedy or that Yoongi is afraid of that at least and AgustD is the raw side that doesn't wanna shut up or go. So his greedy side that got mad with fame (represented by a mad king cutting off heads left and right) wants to kill his other side but AgustD has the Executioner on his side and uses it to get the upper hand and kills (?) The power corrupted king. Edit: the replies here are so interesting, I love interpretation
Exactly! We know he said in other songs before that he fears greed could turn him into a monster, and it's clear that the king is not the good guy here, cutting heads by the dozens, so it totally makes sense that he is the personnification of the bad side of game
These are my thoughts exactly, my first thought was that the king represented his greed since we know that's an important subject to him as he's brought it up many times in his songs. It seems to me that greed is a big part of his shadow self, which I think appears to us here as the blonde king. I thought that in some ways it kind of reminded me of Tony Montana because it talks about his greed and kind of has the same energy as the music video in some ways, if that makes sense.
Hi Joey I miss your shirt lol. Daechwita is a Korean military music that's also played during the arrival of a king. Yoongi (oh no wait I mean Agust D they're *separate entities* ) sampled the original daechwita sounds for this song as you can hear at the very beginning of the mv, cheers!
Actually daechwita is a type of military music, played usually while marching. But the instruments used are in fact the same as the ones used during the arrival of a king 😊
Grace Lancaster maybe it symbolizes that we keep him humble? That, through our support and love, we remind him of what’s important and valuable instead of just blowing up his ego? 💜
I've been a fan of Korean Music for almost 10years but I've never had a rapper as my bias it would always be A vocalist bcs back then I considered rapper as a backup talent u know like if you can't sing or good in dance you'll automatically become a rapper until BTS broke my perspective towards K-Idols. All of them are talented especially the rapline. Their rap part aren't words that are spoken quickly. They use wordplay, putting history in it, a lot of changes rhymes, beats like they know what they're doing.
He's a descendant which is really cool. Pure would mean his family only married other royalty which is not the case. I can't wait until he reacts to the album bc it's fire!
6:00 when you started explaining how he not only changes his flow but also his "dynamic" everything fell into place for me man. its the growls, screamy sounds, squeely sounds and these mm. yeah. stops and sudden fast minute comin in hot they all add so much to it. i cant listen to same flow/same hook rap songs for life man theyre just boring but i hooked w d2. love his work tbh
To help you, I found some really good comments explaining what "Daechwita" means and what it symbolizes. "Sarah 1 day ago (edited) I got this from some people Daechwita (literally "great blowing and hitting") is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching. It can also mean "Big Shot". This music was performed in the march of a king or an attributive and an army march organized by a wind instrument and a percussion instrument. Agust D used it here to show that he is the king and his fans are a the ARMY. It a way to say that in this industry, they should play "daechwita" when he and his ARMY walk because their existence is an honor that you should celebrate. Also, they walk as the others bow down to the ground in respect. Their faces are not seen and they are all wearing the same clothes. No one stands out or rules over but the king. The one he's wearing is actually a traditional clothing that only kings could wear. You see like traditionally asians grow hair of and take care of it which shows rank on society. If i wasn't wrong i can't remember the name of the king way back but he also has a scar. He was actually renowned for his ruthlessness and bravery for breaking the stereotypes of what kings would be. If im wrong please correct me. In korea if you have a scar you can't be a king, but min yoongi broke that stereotype and became a king with a scar on his face. I stan a king. I stan a boss. In his other Agust D album there's a track called The Last he said that "Min Yoongi is dead. I killed him." But this time he killed Agust D (The King) because he doesn't need a persona, like a mask to pretend that he's a celebrity anymore, because the little poor boy that he was just grew up and made it so now Agust D, Suga and Min Yoongi are the same person. It's my version of the MV... Because sometimes celebrity lose who they really are, they're quite like acting in front of the public..." "Barika Khalidi 17 hours ago In Korea a person with a scar can't be a King but Yoongi shows how in spite of all odds he became the king which is his new/current self that has a big car, house and ring. The other is the slave Yoongi which symbolizes his past self and he ends up being saved from getting beheaded and shoots his own new self(the King) to show that he will always be the same in terms of humility and down to earthed-ness(if that's a word) in spite of all the fame. “Daechwita” which roughly translates to 'a great blow or hit' can be for the new Yoongi from the old one and to all his haters as well(not very sure about that)." "hᄐᄋniᄐ bᄐᄐ 22 hours ago (edited) “Daechwita” kinda means like “Big Parade” but BIG as in The King. Historically, if the king left his palace in Korea to travel or walk among the people, this was announced with a bunch of horns blowing (like the traditional instruments you hear in the beat) and loud proclamations and by royal proclaimers like you hear before the beat starts in the beginning, to let the people know the King is on the move."
there actually wasn't a rule that if you had a scar you couldn't ascend to the throne, i think that was a misconception i-army have spread due to a fictional drama but koreans have said it wasn't a historical rule
@@ErikaCartet Yea that was weird to me. Cause to me it makes sense if a king has scars, to prove he's been through enough wars and survived. But so in the context of this MV and not in the context of historical fact, is that what the scar represents? Cause I'm sure he had a reason to have the scar.
@@ErikaCartet Thanks for saying this it's good to know but it still might be a reference to fictional dramas tbh. I think that may be the sentiment cause there doesnt seem to be another explaination.
6:08 YES OMG That is so true! I've said it before, but it's one of the reasons I like his rap so much. It's so dynamic. He can sound mocking or angry or silly or sad. It's not that monotone style that speed rappers can get caught in sometimes.
K ARMY said, the real king was the black haired Yoongi, since his scar was completely healed. while the blonde yoongi is just pretending to be him. (seems he got the scar recently) reason why the guy (who almost beheaded him), gave the gun to kill the fake king.👀
Well, one of BTS’s songs “UGH” by RM, SUGA and J-HOPE it’s about waisted hate. Hate from people that uses hate in a wasteful way and they should use hate to change society in a good way instead. Haters uses hate towards people and can cost a life for example cyber bullying etc. or hate can just harm yourself. So with that said, I believe that the new black haired “AgustD 2” is facing himself blondie “AgustD” from the past to change now and maybe use that anger towards the haters on something more meaningful... maybe, I don’t know but maybe that’s why it ended that way. Anyway, if I’m right then this MV is incredible lit!
I could not wait for this, and the reaction did not disappoint me! Great one Joey, thanks for the insights (and the not-so-subtle fanboying, ha 😏). That Final Fantasy reference though ✨
I love the quote on the sweater! It's hiphop, not kpop. That's exactly what I've been preaching. Songs like Boy With Luv or DNA is kpop yes, but at the end of the day, BTS is a hiphop group and their rapline can rap. People think bc the rapline is in a kpop group, they can't rap smh. Songs like UGH, Daewitcha, Persona, Shadow, EGO, Outro: Tear, Cypher 1-4, etc. are hiphop smh. Btw Joey, the ending was him confronting himself and basically killing is "old self", bc remember, in the first Agust D album he had blonde hair, similarly like the king here. And why he was not kill: bc the guy who was supposed to kill him actually made a deal to go against the king (at the start of the video they made eye contact, bc the guy is also the butcher at the start) so when the guy "slayed" him, he actually didn't but instead gave the now Agust D a gun to kill the older Agust D
How did I miss this new video?!? Agust D/Suga has talked about having a very difficult time, sometimes having to choose between eating that day or paying for the bus to where he needed to go, not to mention people "buying" his songs and then not paying him. For him, hard work and money seem very important. I feel like that ending could be about trying to do away with the "beggar" experience from the past, but the beggar can't be killed, even by the king he is now. The beggar inside is always going find you no matter how high you rise. That's just my take, and it may mean absolutely nothing or something totally different. Love everything about this one!
Wow! Just discovered your channel from this video and just wanted to say thanks because I really enjoy your reactions. I just finished listening to all your bts reactions and it was nice hearing my old favorites with new ears thanks to your observations. I agree with other commenters, no need to comment on lyrics/visuals if you're caught up in the music (although knowing the story/lyrics might help you interpret the sounds since they often use it to inform the production, but not necessary!). The detail and focus on the production is what sets you apart. I also enjoy your custom intro/outros. Shows you're not a lazy reactor and can produce and perform as well so you know what you're talking about. Thanks for appreciating our boys, I can tell it's genuine. You nice, keep going! Looking forward to your next reaction!
Thanks for your reaction Joey ! You make me love this song more than ever! I was completely blown away by this MV and this beat which made me think of metal music 🥰 (for the aggressive and kind of military sound)
This is the most dopest song I have ever heard. I love that when he changed his flow every.. Time when he say Daechwita... Ahhhhh so good.. Suga is the savage person I have ever seen.. Love from India
Lol I love that Joey yells at his computer too "obey me computer!" 😂 I heard BTS for the first time and fell in love 2yrs ago, but I've never herd any of AgustD's songs until now. This is amazeballs! 😍😎
7:42 and 7:48 I think displays how meticulous Suga is. The difference between Rebel Agust D and King Agust D say "I'm a King, I'm a boss." Both with conviction, but was able to express who's in power. That's may also be the case in the earlier part of the vid but this part is where it stood out.
Joey I just want to thankyou SO MUCH for introducing me to Agust D, (Suga or Min Yoongi). If it wasn't for you I would never have discovered this and I would never have discovered BTS. I'm a typical white westerner that didn't even know there was such a thing as K-pop and so far every BTS song that I have listen to has made me cry my eyes out (cried a river without even doing drugs if you get the reference). Admittedly from one real musician to another real musician, when you first started promoting Genie this was the kind of beat I was expecting. I love traditional music fused with modern music and I'm so confused why there is not WAY MORE music like this, I've been waiting for music like this since 2002 and its so ironic that when I finally get to hear this type of music, its half in another language (so currently learning how to speak Korean so I can enjoy BTS songs at their fullest). I'm still in the process of discovering your own music which is awesome brother. Every song I've heard from you so far is stunningly good, apart from Genie which is NOT a bad song, its VERY well said, but knowing your musical capability now I wanted the beat to be just as perfect as you wise set of lyrics you (always) spit, anyways thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou Joey (Thankyou!!!! ❤️❤️❤️)
To explain the ending---- my theory is that it's the agust d/yoongi real normal guy version of himself killing off the popstar version of himself, suga, showing that the rest of the album is from yoongis perspective, not from a popstaf perspective. It's to show that the rest of the album is purely him, he isn't taking any shit he's just speaking his mind

MV: Has literally a scene of a beheading. Him: Just listen to the drop... *talks about the music and not paying attention to the scene of the beheading at all. Idk, I just found this funny!l 😂
AgustD the real Emperor (they both have the scar but blackhaired's is healed, so blond one has cut it later, faking to be the Emperor..) shot dead his Shadow. AgustD is the only Emperor (king of kings). * It has a real historical references to a king that had a scar in times when king could not be defected in any way, scar made you unfit to the throne. * Also there is a rumor that Suga is related to last empress of Korea so he used the excuse of a MV to take up his throne that belongs to him by blood ;D
The ending scene where the black hair Agust D(represent the current self of Agust D) killed the King Agust D(represent the past self of Agust D that become King). This means, the current self of Agust D which is himself now killed the King Agust D that is full with EGO. Suga always been afraid of himself being lost because of fame. He want to always be HUMBLE no matter how bigger and popular he become. So, that is why he killed the King Agust D because he did not want to be like that.
Hey Joey! I'm watching Suga's V live video about the D-2 mixtape. Because he produced the whole mixtape himself, he talks a lot about the behind the scenes. He even lists all the equipment he uses to record. It was all gibberish to me, but I thought you might find it interesting!
Daechwita - A traditional song played whenever a King or royalty is moving about/walking around. In Agust D's song, the blonde version of him is seen as a corrupt king and that represents his past self which was fueled by greed and jealousy. The black-haired version of him is seen as more of a rebel type character, going against the King and eventually killing him. This dynamic portrays Yoongi's inner battles with himself and how much he has grown as a person and an artist in the past few years.
I like listening to Joey's comments, he always hears beats I never even noticed. This dude's got amazing hearing. 😂 Makes me appreciate songs even more
"this isn't k-pop" "this is hip hop" -Joey Nato I like your shirt sir, you are very much right. Agust D is back and he's here to kill! Also I have a question for you kind sir... U ARMY yet or wha???
Shameless and cocky when he fools around Shy when he is praised and given attention A brilliant genius when no one is watching Amazing performer on stage!
fun fact: the gun that Agust D is using is called "Army". That's also can be a metaphore on how Armys helped Yoongi kill the old him full of selfishness and arrogance and make him a better person. The whole thing is that Yoongi's a genius. He writes, raps and produces his own songs. And that's why I think Agust D is always so honest. The whole mixtape is full of Yoongi. Can be more perfect?
The way Joey paid attention to every detail of this song and commending it makes me proud of Yoongi. He really is one of the best song writer, music producer out there. Enough said.
Yaaaaaayyy! I was waiting for your take on this!!! The production of this track has so many layers and elements on it! Love that you always deliver in breaking it down and explaining it to your viewers.
You're reaction videos are the best. I'm so here for someone dissecting the production of songs, especially Agust D's since he's an amazing producer. I'm quite interested in producing, I was supposed to take music technology back in college but due to time table clashes I couldn't TT ^ TT I also feel like you're actually genuine instead of milking it too much for the views. Anyways all the best for your channel!
DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS SONG HAS ONLY ONE CHORD? THAT IS WHAT I SAY THIS MUSIC IS AMAZING. NO DECORATION NEEDED. SUGA WANTS TO SHOW HIS TALENT WITHOUT SOPHISTICATED SOUND EFFECT OR HARMONY.
Can you react to Gidle they are a 6 member girl group and the leader Soyeon is AMAZING she helps and sometimes fully composes Gidle’s music They have: Latata (their debut and its my least fave from them so I recommend the others) Hann Senorita Uh-Oh Lion (this song was for a show but they decided to make an mv for it) Ohmygod (the mv is really cool) I’d recommend Uh-Oh the most music wise
Othe producers reacting to Daechwita said that Yoongi only used one main chord throughout the song. I recall it's c#m. Most of them are korean producers, and they think it's genius of yoongi to use korean instruments in a rap song. Daecwhita is really getting lots of recognition within Korea. It's amazing that it is also recognized internationally. Anyway, loved this reaction vid so muchhhh. He really gets the difference between Suga and Agust D. 👍😂

What I appreciate most about your reviews is the way they stand out as break downs that expand the overall listening experience by highlighting complimenting or conflicting or creative dynamics. Your ability to extend the dimensions of my listening experience is unique and I love it! As a bonus, your own artist talent, creative genius, eclectic character and contagious straight up get it energy is addicting. 😁 I appreciate what you do. All of it. Ain't but one you. Impossible to imitate, duplicate, or deny. Life's short, live tall.
Tbh, i like it when experts like you react to them. It’s because you know the ins and outs in the creation of a song. You are more open minded and more respectful in the craft since you, yourself knows what goes behind the scenes. So much respect to people like you. More strength to your music and channel! 💜
I just noticed that when the black-haired Agust D appeared wearing his sat gat, there was a "rewind" type of sound that played. This might indicate that there was time-traveling that happened and further cements the fact that the black-haired Agust D of the past has arrived to put his current blond-haired self in check. 0 _ 0
He produced and coproduced all the song on his new mixtape. He obviously wrote the lyrics too. Also, he did a lot of other stuff for certain songs like rsp/vocal arrangements, keyboard and synthesizer!

Edit: the replies here are so interesting, I love interpretation
My thoughts exactly. It seems so obvious to me but everyone seems to not see it. It is hard to miss if you understand that Gwanghe reference.
@@observer5427 In general, King Gwanghae--though he remains a semi-controversial figure--is no longer considered a depot but a wise monarch.
Exactly! We know he said in other songs before that he fears greed could turn him into a monster, and it's clear that the king is not the good guy here, cutting heads by the dozens, so it totally makes sense that he is the personnification of the bad side of game
Perfect just perfect thank you so much
These are my thoughts exactly, my first thought was that the king represented his greed since we know that's an important subject to him as he's brought it up many times in his songs.

In the ending he cofronted himself, just like in shadow, and shot him.
Interestingly, the gun he used to shoot himself with is a Colt 1860 ARMY... so he's using Army to kill the arrogant king side of him.

Exactly, sad thing is only few understand 🙁
i am not an army but i have to recognize that yoongi is really talented. the song is amazing.
Thank you for loving Min Yoongi's music
thankyouuuu!!!
same, i used to be an army, (which is why i have a yoongi pfp) im now a nctzen but this really goes HARD
Thank you sm for appreciating Yoongi!🥰❤️

Fun fact : YOONGI is PURE BLOOD ROYAL 🙌😌
thats like so headcanon.
He's a descendant which is really cool. Pure would mean his family only married other royalty which is not the case.
I can't wait until he reacts to the album bc it's fire!
yeah I think his family from Joseon Kingdom, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeoheung_Min_clan

Not pure, but related.

To help you, I found some really good comments explaining what "Daechwita" means and what it symbolizes.

I got this from some people
Daechwita (literally "great blowing and hitting") is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching.
Because sometimes celebrity lose who they really are, they're quite like acting in front of the public..."

In Korea a person with a scar can't be a King but Yoongi shows how in spite of all odds he became the king which is his new/current self that has a big car, house and ring. The other is the slave Yoongi which symbolizes his past self and he ends up being saved from getting beheaded and shoots his own new self(the King) to show that he will always be the same in terms of humility and down to earthed-ness(if that's a word) in spite of all the fame. “Daechwita” which roughly translates to 'a great blow or hit' can be for the new Yoongi from the old one and to all his haters as well(not very sure about that)."
"hᄐᄋniᄐ bᄐᄐ

“Daechwita” kinda means like “Big Parade” but BIG as in The King.
I am really wonder what does it means The Last song he said he killed min yoongi. What does it mean?
I like how we're both bobbing our heads
I had no idea he had a solo project. He’s my favorite BTS member, cause I love the way he raps. This is so f’ing great!
His shirt:"THIS IS NOT KPOP THIS IS HIP-HOP...
Armys:THIS IS NOT KPOP,THIS IS SUGA'S WORLD!
Exactly this is not kPop this is AGUSTD
6:08 YES OMG That is so true! I've said it before, but it's one of the reasons I like his rap so much. It's so dynamic. He can sound mocking or angry or silly or sad. It's not that monotone style that speed rappers can get caught in sometimes.
K ARMY said, the real king was the black haired Yoongi, since his scar was completely healed. while the blonde yoongi is just pretending to be him. (seems he got the scar recently) reason why the guy (who almost beheaded him), gave the gun to kill the fake king.👀
Thank you. I'm enlightened. 💜
if you notice in the beginning when he was rapping on the marker theres a scene where he exchanged glances with that guy

7:20 it is playing the korean traditional instrument “Jing” as symbals. His melody is constructed quite korean traditional sounds. 😀
this beat is on damn fire..the video clip also is dope! love you NATO💙
The fact he's a relative to the Empress Sunmyeong makes the whole theme of this song even better to me (unless Wikipedia is lying :D).
"i don't understand the ending but, HEY WHAT ELSE IS NEW?!"

Lol the ending is he killed his other self cus
The blonde
And black suga is different
@@ruanncabllero9517 lol i knew that. i only quoted that words he said after watching the mv
Fun fact the gun that he uses to kill is a Colt 1860 ARMY.
I really like how you pointed out and explained the different sounds you heard in the back. So interesting to hear your perspective!
Thanks for this reaction Joey, I like how you got straight into it instead of talking a lot before the video started.Your so good.
I love Joey's reaction! This album is totally different than his previous Agust D album. I love the Korean instruments in the song.
Lol I love that Joey yells at his computer too "obey me computer!" 😂
I heard BTS for the first time and fell in love 2yrs ago, but I've never herd any of AgustD's songs until now. This is amazeballs! 😍😎
“i didnt understand the ending but hEY whAt’S NeW” is such a mood
7:42 and 7:48 I think displays how meticulous Suga is. The difference between Rebel Agust D and King Agust D say "I'm a King, I'm a boss." Both with conviction, but was able to express who's in power. That's may also be the case in the earlier part of the vid but this part is where it stood out.
How do you not getting copy claims from Big Hit? I am confused.
Good reaction and review btw, I love my AugstD and our SUGA.
As long it is a reaction to a vid then it’s fine

Every song I've heard from you so far is stunningly good, apart from Genie which is NOT a bad song, its VERY well said, but knowing your musical capability now I wanted the beat to be just as perfect as you wise set of lyrics you (always) spit, anyways thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou Joey
(Thankyou!!!! ❤️❤️❤️)
The visuals from suga is just...
GODLY
To explain the ending---- my theory is that it's the agust d/yoongi real normal guy version of himself killing off the popstar version of himself, suga, showing that the rest of the album is from yoongis perspective, not from a popstaf perspective. It's to show that the rest of the album is purely him, he isn't taking any shit he's just speaking his mind

AgustD the real Emperor (they both have the scar but blackhaired's is healed, so blond one has cut it later, faking to be the Emperor..)

AgustD is the only Emperor (king of kings).
*
It has a real historical references to a king that had a scar in times when king could not be defected in any way, scar made you unfit to the throne.
*
Also there is a rumor that Suga is related to last empress of Korea so he used the excuse of a MV to take up his throne that belongs to him by blood ;D
Thank you! I have been waiting for your video ever since Agust D dropped this mixtape!! I love your work keep it up!! :D
Hey Joey! I'm watching Suga's V live video about the D-2 mixtape. Because he produced the whole mixtape himself, he talks a lot about the behind the scenes. He even lists all the equipment he uses to record. It was all gibberish to me, but I thought you might find it interesting!
www.vlive.tv/video/193808?channelCode=FE619
Daechwita - A traditional song played whenever a King or royalty is moving about/walking around. In Agust D's song, the blonde version of him is seen as a corrupt king and that represents his past self which was fueled by greed and jealousy. The black-haired version of him is seen as more of a rebel type character, going against the King and eventually killing him. This dynamic portrays Yoongi's inner battles with himself and how much he has grown as a person and an artist in the past few years.
I hope you can react to all of the mixtape
I like listening to Joey's comments, he always hears beats I never even noticed. This dude's got amazing hearing. 😂 Makes me appreciate songs even more

fun fact: the gun that Agust D is using is called "Army".
Damn and since yesterday I'm like... I'm missing something.. What is it... I watched a lot of reactions.. But what is it, THIS WAS IT.
The way Joey paid attention to every detail of this song and commending it makes me proud of Yoongi. He really is one of the best song writer, music producer out there. Enough said.
The only right way to watch a Joey video is to like the video before watching it. I said what I said.
I've been doing it wrong this whole time. 😯

You're reaction videos are the best. I'm so here for someone dissecting the production of songs, especially Agust D's since he's an amazing producer. 👍😂

You are more open minded and more respectful in the craft since you, yourself knows what goes behind the scenes. So much respect to people like you. More strength to your music and channel! 💜
I was wondering when you'd react to this
I just noticed that when the black-haired Agust D appeared wearing his sat gat, there was a "rewind" type of sound that played. This might indicate that there was time-traveling that happened and further cements the fact that the black-haired Agust D of the past has arrived to put his current blond-haired self in check. 0 _ 0
