I never owned a ASL but I shot one. It was made by a guy here in Iowa. It was fun to shoot, and super accurate which would be expected. I didn't have an arm guard so I was getting massive string slap, but it was so fun to shoot, I couldn't stop...until the pain got me flinching. I would love an ASL, but just have never pulled the trigger. Thanks for this video. That is a gorgeous bow
I ordered an ASL from Chris at Newwood in Wisconsin. I wanted American elm core and American hardwoods. I shoot a reflex deflex D bow now but want to go ASL. I can’t wait. St. Patrick Lake bows are awesome. I almost called him, but I met Chris at a shoot and sot some of his bows, really liked them. Thanks for sharing.
Mannn that bows beautiful. Seriously good looking product. I like how the quiver matches all the way down to the stitching. String color matches great too. Glad u made a video on it.
Glad you gave them another shot. I just got into the ASL game myself with a Northern Mist that I got last week. Thought you might be interested to know that my bow from Steve has a flat back in the straight grip like you describe. I didn't ask for anything special, but I noticed in your earlier video how rounded the back on your NM was. Mine isn't like that at all. I wonder if the one you had was ordered like that by the previous owner? I didn't ask for anything special from Steve, and it's not like the one you had at all. Like you, I'm loving this bow and super happy to have tried an ASL. I think these bows are having a resurgence right now, thanks in large part to Eric's coming onto the scene recently and to Jason's raves on Steve's bows... Even the Push just had a full episode dedicated to ASLs Unfortunately it means the waits are getting nasty on these bows. Steve's is a year out now-which gives me time to come up with the cash for the two new bows I just ordered from him!
Yeah the NM had a hard skinny ridge in my palm. Not sure if it was modified but I called Jason when I got it and he confirmed his was like that. He said, “yep, it’s shaped like an egg and the pointy side of the egg goes in your palm”. Glad you’re loving yours. I had both Erik and Joshua on my podcast 4 or 5 months back (turned out they were back to back episodes) and I had no intention of ordering an ASL. I was really eyeing the Minnesota Styk but after talking to Joshua some more and also Cody Greenwood I pulled the trigger on the Pacific. Glad I did!
@@bowhuntingsoul2149 Interesting. I did get a takedown, so maybe the fiberglass sleeve made a difference in the shape, but mine certainly has a flat place on the back. When I used to shoot compound I usually shot bows off the riser with that flat, almost squared off grip. My NM is very similar to that. Shoots much more like that than my Toelke Whip with the locator. I'll have to make sure Steve builds it the same way as this one if I get a one piece in the future.
Yeah I notice when I watch my videos I’m constantly moving my bows around. Kind of like Ricky Bobby in Talladaga Nights. “I don’t know what to do with my hands!”
“There’s no way I’m putting a clicker on this bow it ain’t happening” lol. I would feel the same way. Any updates? still loving the bow? I just got on the build list for a pacific styk

Great video! Toelke puts an outstanding grip on their ASL. Love ASL bows, so simple and classic. Took 3 deer with them. Thanks for posting!
Love it bro! I'm glad I was able to help. Enjoy it my man!
Great shooting Emrah! Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Awesome. Good luck with it!
Great review, nice angles and shooting!
Congrats on your new longbow, that is nice!
beautiful bow and it fits you very well! great form and great shooting! welcome the hill bow club!
Great review video. Very cool looking bow, can't beat that profile. Good wood choices, too.👍🏹
I really enjoy your channel, keep it up.

You should see the colors on the new D97 string
@@bowhuntingsoul2149 I’ll watch another video of it in action 😂. I always liked the asl style but haven’t made the jump. I really need too though.

Very sweet bow
Nice one! Good shooting too
Sweet! Look forward to seeing your review
Sure grip? what is that? I have heard of the bike tube, but not an actual rubber product.
Great video man! I need to order one of these.
Yes you do!
Nice looking bow man.
Beautiful bow. You just tend to move it around the camera too fast so it's hard to get a good look at it. Thanks!

@@bowhuntingsoul2149 LOL...just excitement :)
How much to make me one
Are you aiming or shooting instinctive?
Gap-stinctive I guess. Some days barely above a hope and a prayer lol
@ I feel ya. 😂

Love it! I still alternate going out between this, my Elkheart and my Grizzly but I do love the bow. Shoots awesome for me.
Just out of curiosity, with your para chord silencers how many pieces and length of them per puffball do you like to use?
I’ve settled on 5 or 6 lengths of approximately 2” to 2.5”. Paracord sheath only. I pull the inner strands out.
Thumbs up!
Too picky
What do you mean?
