Binoculars. Do We REALLY Need Them?
Переглядів 2517 годин тому
Binos are super important for the way I hunt. It not only lets me identify game, but lets me see trees I can set up in from a distance and helps me make a plan how to get to one exact tree.

Have I Finally Settled On An Arrow Setup For The Pacific Styk?

I’ve found these ASL’ (Hill Style bows) to be more finicky to tune. This wood arrow seems to be the ticket! St. Patrick Lake Longbows: stpatricklakelongbows.com/ Hiko Ito Knives: hikoito.com/

You may have a solid anchor point on your face, but that doesn’t mean your draw length is always the same!

I used to think they were ridiculous... Then I got some decent ones and my mine was changed.
Hot liquid in a nutribullet? I think it is dangerous
Great hunt! I've been on the ground with my Pacseat and leafy suit, at least until the temps get around 70. Thanks for taking us. God bless.
I notice you and Ethan Page wear those leafy suits. I don't understand how ya'll shoot without something to hold that sleeve down.
So I cut away pretty much all of the loose stuff on my left arm and even trim down some of the “leaves” on my chest where the bow string may grab it. With this bow (because it’s a short bow and more aggressive string angle), I don’t have a problem with the string catching loose fabric on my arm. Sometimes I do wear a cheapie Allen (Walmart special) arm guard just to keep loose sleeve material tucked in nice and tight.
@bowhuntingsoul2149 Oh OK. Thanks
Outstanding video and tips!
I can't function without binoculars on my chest.. Even turkey hunting.
I have no use for them. For me the weight is not worth it. If I am on an Elk Hunt I usually have some for evenings I am doing some long range location. Usually my binos are in camp.
I don't go into the woods without them.
Yeah, the Knee and Toe Hook, to set a Stand. Unbelievable, when i first started seeing this on UA-cam... Probably the same dudes who cam up with " Trad" I subscribed
Good stuff!
@@mountainstatetradjournal thanks Tony
Good tips! Thanks much!
What lock on are you running? Looks like a great area. Thanks for taking us with you and the tips. God bless
@@sarafayelawton652 novix Helo. Just put out a “Treestand Hacks” video the other day.
@bowhuntingsoul2149 Cool. I got one too for this year.
Great looking spot.
Definitely like the idea of the lineman's belt being used to hang gear. I'm going to give that a try 👍👍
Great Points!
XOP Holiday Harness $49.99. I’m assuming you have ropes already.
@@pathfinder5804 yep. It’s all in the video
Great stuff. No hate to the others, but I like what you’re doing. Straight up help. A little less of the over played “primal/alpha stuff” 👍🇫🇷
Is that a deathwish bow?

Looks like you left durning prime time.

great first time out! Thanks for taking us along
love it
Great advice
You look like you're shooting strong! Getting arrows to tune right out of a Hill bow has been my greatest challenge I think.
I like it , looks good . Don't fret the small stuff , if the arrows flying well , hits where you want and is sharp ... it'll do the job . Foc and all that is important to an extent but it's not the only thing !
I know this sounds weird, but try this, it worked for me. This will effect your point of aim. Take your nock point and raise it 1/4", and then lower your draw point 1/4", giving yourself 1/2" from your index finger to the arrow. My bow tuned perfect after this. I've even got a older recurve that I added even more of a distance between the 2. . It's just something I did that might help. BTW, enjoy your videos
Have you tried moving the silencers closer to the nock? It should stiffen your arrows a bit. Looks like you have cat whiskers on , they’re easy to move up and down.
@@Knifeandarrow yes. Its changes tune quite a bit. So does losing weight off the string (like 30-40 grain difference) when going to smaller puffs or changing the style of silencer.
Some bows can be like that. My son recently got a center shot recurve. It will virtually shoot any arrow. He needed a bow that was a takedown for an out of state hunt. Dirt cheap like 69 bucks. I liked it so much I ordered one for a backup. Love the fact you are getting sub 20 yard point on. I might go 3 under if I could get a point on that close.
I shoot hybrid longbows and recurve bows . Some are more efficient than others. I have 44 lbs to 47 lbs limbs , I can use 500 spine 448 grains and I shoot through whitetails with a total of 200 grains up front. I also shoot full length 350 spine with 220 to 250 up front 520 to 550 grains total arrow weight. I like shooting both arrows but the lighter weight 500 spine is a little louder out of some of my bows. Arrow building and tuning is a science!!!!
Kinderlyte electrolyte packs or Element sticks work great 👍
Hydration helps so many things and is so important to regular daily functions.
I probably could use a little more water and less Beer and Coffee.
Any tips for shooting with glasses on ? Due to a eye injury i now have to ware glasses and when I shoot I see the frame next to my nose . Any tips would be appreciated.
It’s never been a problem for me
Litrally got my first Grizzly yesterday. Cant wait for the new string to arrive and start building arrows and tuning it 🙂
Can you use that on your dog?
Great content. One more day till opener!
Now that’s what we call a spearhead! You hit with that it’s not going far.
I struck out in NC on opening weekend. I have 2 setups with Tree Sharks, 1 with Centaur Battle Axes, and another with VPA 3 blades.
Those VPA’s are a beast!
Triggered. Every setup is a little different. A couple are feather to nose and some are broadhead touching my finger.
Excellent video.
"Guided by the ghost of Fred Bear"😂😂
Nice points!
If I bare down my head and move my head and neck forward ,I will hit low every time. If I pull the string to my face and hit my anchor index finger to cheek bone and third finger corner of mouth I then get full expansion and hit where I'm looking. I think of my body as a capital T and my head is on top in the middle of the T. My head does not move from the centre of the T.. Aim, anchor, alignment, back tension and follow through. Same pressure on my string fingers as well the grip fingers every time.
That is a weighty arrow for sure.
@@UncleDanBand64 agreed. I would love to end up around 550 grains give or take. But when you spend 3 hours at the range the day before leaving on a hunting trip frantically reconfiguring your entire setup, well, you end up with what you end up with lol
@bowhuntingsoul2149 Yes sir. I agree I tend to like light and fast since I shoot split finger and instinctive but, whatever tip weight it takes to get good flight and impact perfectly left and right. Currently I am running a pretty heavy front on my arrow. Not because I really wanted to, that is just what tuned for my bow and arrow combo.
I have back up bows too!!!!! What feathers you run for big broadheads? Size length of feathers? Helical? I try to make my arrows 70 to 100 grains heavier than my bow poundage weight, makes a great combination of speed and foc for whitetails..!!!
@@bradlauber9097 the woodies have 5” parabolic. The carbon has 4”. Both seem to do fine. Left helical.
Simple and free. Tie 1/4" x 4" section of bicycle inner tube as tight as you can. A target archer exclusively, I just didn't like the sound and hand vibration of my recurve barebow.
if there a match when all is perfect.... then try a pluck and a short draw....which arrow is more forgiving with error go with that one... my guess your traditional wood will be more forgiving with error..little lighter if short draw and if a pluck less weight gets your string back in line faster..hunting isnt perfect form its hunting...good luck,,great vid thanks
great video and have a great trip
Not a bad idea, I've used a old plastic milk crate before, set one at different locations, just leave them there and just carry a foam seat pad.
Question. Do you tune wood arrows any differently than carbon arrows? Good video.
That's clever ! Great idea 💡
