While I wouldn't necessarily prefer to drive this, I absolutely love these - they remind me of my childhood and visiting Germany as a kid. I definitely have seen both iterations, the Polo and the Golf here stateside. It's SO 90s with the primary color vibe, I totally dig it.

My father had to paint the single cars back in the days which would then be pull apart again to mix and match. According to his story, there were these plans but they might not always match up because in production they sometime just grabbed what they had. He just hated to do Harlequins :D

I honestly thought the owner painted it after-market. Never would it cross my innocent mind that VW was actually bold enough to make this in-house!! :D
Wow I think I saw one of the Golfs in Chicago, was so puzzled by it and never saw a paint job like it! The Mutli-color engine bay parts and especially the Mondrian-pattern seats are such wonderful touches. In conclusion, want one!
I've always wanted to paint my dream car like this (not a VW). Everyone I tell this to thinks I am crazy, but at now I know I am not the only one. I am beyond surprised I never found this car (or this community) in my endless quest for rainbow cars.

In the heyday of the beetle, The big 3 would do a facelift every year, if not full redesign. Not a lot was changing for technology, it was mostly for looks. This made your car look old and out of date soon after purchase and This also meant parts were frequently more expensive if they were even available at all. I think the lack of change is the main reason Wranglers have insanely good resale (although Chrysler does try to limit interchangeable parts).

I had a black 6n Polo as my first ever car - I even passed my test in it! It had been my Nana's before she sold it to me and I called it Victor! Haha. When I finally couldn't afford the upkeep in 2018 it had been on the road for 21 years. I still miss that little car.
The thing is Volkswagen isn't that hyped and loved as some people want it to be or think it is. There were always and still is a better alternative for the price so not sure why would a sane person want a stupid Volkswagen.

I worked as a sprayer for 13 years starting in the mid nineties for vw garage. Loved it when we had a couple of these things in. Colour matching was a a piece of cake 🤣🤣👍
I worked for a VW garage in 1970/71 and VW UK brought out a series of Beetles to match the VW colour charts that were current in the UK. They were called Stripey Beetles. Perhaps you can find a picture of one? They were a real hit as promotional vehicles.

My Golf MK3 Convertible also have those Joker seats, really retro. In addition, the outside color is this bright yellow.

in VW europe does't change models every year so if you buy a new car it stays a new car for 3 years then a update.
