I just watched a Cziffra version of this. Thank you for not having strange moments where you pause before resuming the piece. Not to take anything away from the man. (not that i could!) I prefer your "no sleep till Brooklyn" version here. Zero pause...And That's refreshing. XD
Listening to this performance is astonishing, but being able to watch Valentina’s fingers as she plays it takes it to another level altogether! Her talent and hard work are among the greatest of anyone who’s ever existed.
Not just the greatist pianist ever, but i think she is the greatest musician across all instruments. What Valentina does looks impossible but it is done with ease.
She is by far the most phenomenal pianist I have ever heard. If I ever met her I wouldn't feel like I had the right to shake her hand. There's not a video of hers that hasn't brought me to tears. The level of her dedication, speed, and grace is unmatched.
Epic. Valentina Lisitsa is undoubtedly the best fast playing pianist of the world alive. She is precise and pumps out new recordings like there is no tomorrow. I really would like to see her playing more recent aesthetically classical composers. Maybe after she will have finished (off) Beethoven? Huge thanks for all your great recordings. I am really looking forward to seeing you live in Germany. Whether in the Festspielhaus or Berliner Philharmonie - I would buy a ticket for each of those houses.
i would love to play this piece. it sounds so much fun. i would have a smile on my face when playing this piece. its so entertaining. Lisitsa's performance is amazing as expected.
Such a sweetheart..despite the incredible command and control and the Joy of connection with the spirit, you could say..of Liszt...but what's very interesting is the little smile while she's thundering through this timeless piece..
La Campanella, without a doubt. All the techniques which stick out in the galop feature in La Campanella in a more demanding way, particularly larger leaps, which are also integrated with repeated notes.
at first I thought "this is too delicate and slow for my taste", but the performance got better towards the end.. plus her playing is extremely precise.. WOW
On a completely different subject, i wonder how it feels to be able to play this masterpiece. I would be indoors just driving my neighboors crazy with this piece, all day long.
In my experience, a great piece to start with Liszt is ''Nuages Gris'' a mere two pages, at poses no real technical challenge. I highly recommend it. I think it would also be wise to purchase Liszt's technical exercises for the piano. Once mastered, you will be able to play almost anything that has been put on paper.( including post ''chromatic'' stress here) XD
Yes, Cziffra really had the Liszt's Hungarian soul, he was the best on Liszt. I liked Valentina very much, but now I am understanding a bit more about classical music I stopped to like her. Bravo! Outstanding in every way; playing nearly rivaling the late, great owner of this piece, Georges Cziffra. I say "nearly rivals" because there are places where the pianist seems to hesitate, as if to find the music under her fingers again. (Cziffra didn't take any breathers.) In other words, I don't think she owns it the way Cziffra did, though she comes closest of any I've heard. Cziffra view of the galop is the one most faithful to Liszt's intent, which is a jawdropping show of virtuosity.
She is truly amazing. Something I could never do. However, check out Cziffra's version. It may not seem possible, but it is 23 seconds shorter and smoother. This is not a criticism of Ms. Lisitsa. She was great. But Mr. Cziffra's version -- perfection.
@@jeanettethoden9204 Sorry, but Valentina aren't right. To tell you the truth, Cziffra turn it way harder, he actually change the piece (he is a master on it) putting extra notes and larger jumps and playing faster than the usual (nothing wrong, it's Presto) without messing up (very difficulty) and really played in a very Lisztian performance. On Liszt, nobody can play as good as Cziffra, maybe only Liszt himself, both Hungarians, and Cziffra's teacher was a Liszt student. Valentina's performance was incredible, probably the best after Cziffra's one, but to lie on this way was kinda rude and arrogant.

Although I'm used to Cziffra's, I actually really quite liked this. It's less ostentatious and less exciting, for sure, but it has some other nice qualities instead. It sounds like it'd make a great backing to a Warner Bros. cartoon, for example, and I can't say the same about Cziffra's. Whilst there's less excitement here, there seems to be more happiness and, I dunno, easy-going jollity. Cziffra's is intense whereas this is fun and lighthearted.
