I have a 2022 M340i with the mild hybrid. I can get 36-38 on the freeway with the air conditioner on Eco Mode, and 40+ without the air conditioner off, Eco Mode. It's truly crazy in a car you can put back into Sport+ and drive your head back into the seat. Good times.
I have the 2017 340i also with the b58 engine. I average 38-41 here in Florida at 73mph average.
That's crazy good
The best combination of performance and efficiency on the market today. Bar none.
It is absolutely wild just how efficient the b58 is. That got the same mpg as my 99 Saab does! But with AWD and over 100 more hp! Crazy. Maybe one day I can buy one.
Yea those gm Saab 9-3 and 9-5’s were pretty crap for efficiency…. Hence why Saab is no longer with us
Used to have the SAABs 2.8 V6 engine in 17' Opel insignia OPC (Buick regal GS equivalent here in Europe, just different badge, same as with Vauxhaul in UK) That car was insanely thirsty and fuel inefficient. Long term average (100k km) since the car was new was 18 mpg / 13/100km. Never had an engine issue though for whole 5,5 years i've owned it. But with the fuel price increase the consumption was ridiculous....
Always love the 3 Series. Don’t like that they moved most of the controls into the infotainment screen. Oh well. Great MPG considering the performance available in this car.
I agree.
My2020 m340 i rear wheel drive, I got 37mpg after 200 miles trip from Atlanta GA to Tuscaloosa AL, and was driving fast 80-90 miles per hour.
Ultimate driving machine. If they proof that they are reliable like Honda!
On the stock Pirelli 18” all season runflats I could easily get 39-40mpg on a highway drive. Averaged 35mpg on my drive to and from work which was half city, half freeway. Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires and saw a drop off of about 10% but still very happy overall with this car. Absolutely amazing daily driver.
I want one but prices are crazy! Love the channel!
mine delivers next saturday. just 11 days left, im excited
how's it going so far with it?
@@GumzOnTheTrack love it, but i want more power, so will trade in once the m5 touring comes out haha
@@nothingspecial4510 cool ! and how does it behave consumption wise?
@@GumzOnTheTrack good fuel economy, my full tank can get around 752km. So far everything been going smooth, no major problems.
would you recommend this as a second car for smb?
This is a really comprehensive test, the only thing that it would be nice to add would be also measurements in the metric system for those of us in Europe. Thank you for the test. Great mileage on the m340i
The missing features are because the wiring harnesses were made in Ukraine. Same thing happened with our BMW i4 e40.
C43 has no chance against this. And I'm a Merc fan. So sad.
E450 MHEV 4Matic with over 2 tons and 367hp had the same MPGs ))
Mercedes is going to be just a brand putting overpowered 4 cylinders in “AMG” cars. Not AMG trims, the actual AMG cars. Look at what happened to the new C63.
They’re boring now. Even if subscriptions plague new BMWs, this is one of the last good cars they make imo.
@@Eugen-Elol but this is a slow boring mhev😂😂
@@qwertyqwerty-zi6dr heavier with almost the same power and full time AWD and the same fuel economy 🙂. Check Car&Driver test with the latest S580e. 36mph at 75mph 🤣 over 5000lb.
@@Eugen-E it s a slow boring mhev car, who cares of mpg lmao
Buy 1l diesel or go full EV lol
I’m debating as getting this for a daily
You could do much worse!
Dude, please add the db levels to your reviews. Please!!!
I’m going to get this car
I was considering getting this for a daily but I was also considering the Audi RS3. Which one is better?
I would consider this over the RS3, since it's one class above. More space, more comfortable, though slightly slower to 60mph as it's not a full blown M3. The competitor for the m340i would be an S4.
@@sebs9511 Awesome thanks man. Reason why I would pick the m340i over m3 is because of the X-drive but I’ve heard the RWD BMWs are good in the snow I just really need AWD where I live with the snow we get.
@@Lilwebstarr keep in mind the full M variant will be much more rigid and uncomfortable overall if that's something you also consider. the seats are also more on the "racing" side and if you're a bigger person may not fit. i see the m340i as the perfect compromise between sportiness and comfort. also much safer with the AWD. i personally don't see a reason for buying the M when the m340i takes around 3.8 sec to 60mph. As a side note, i can't understand why cars are much cheaper in the US than they are here in Europe. A fully equipped m340i costs us roughly $100k :(
But you can get carbon roof and frozen paint on your m340. We can’t, not even offered. No carbon fiber trim either or power trunk
@@stevenmccoy7096 funnily enough, i would never pick a carbon roof over a sunroof or frozen over metallic paint😂 matter of fact I just hate any carbon trim, and these feelings are common in Eastern Europe 😅
Mine will be here sometime ordered about a little over a month ago it’s in final assembly at plant
36mpg in the UK is moderate for this engine based on the price of fuel.
BMW's B58 is an absolute legend. This videos shows exactly why.... of course, the M340i ain't half bad, either.
wdym, the m340i has the B58
If the B58 is this efficient, I wonder how efficient the smaller B48 in the 330i is... this car is becoming more and more compelling.
i've gotten 40mpg while driving a constant 80mph. the b48's efficiency is just incredible.
I can get around 38-40 mpg when driving in eco. Best i got was 48 mpg on highway. Total long term average i have for city and sporty driving is around 28 mpg / 8,5l/100 km. Car is on summer staggered R18 setup, 23' 340ix.
Test the G80 M3 xdrive if you can
whats the city MPG ?
Do the m440i !!!!
whats the wheel size for the test ? 18"?
Is the 2020 version similar to this?
What’s the as tested mpg’s in the city?
Your average speed wasn't 70mph, but 68mph )) The same MPG as the Supra 3.0.
haha true, I remember i was like wtf when i first heard the speedo reads 2 MPH high, i didn't believe it. but i did confirm it, and now it's strange when i switch cars and need to remember to not accidentally speed too much
Bought one 😁
I got mine about a month ago and I’ve been having to fill up once a week. I was wondering why I only got 250 miles on a full tank if it’s advertised for 390 miles on a full tank. Is there any reason for this?
Are you driving it aggressively? If so, you're going to get an average of 22-23 MPG.
Take it out of sport mode
70mph is real life? That is equivalent to 112km/h. Bro thats country road speed.
This is not twin turbo charged
Me gusta el Auto para la familia
That's super impressive. Mean while the WRX gets 28 😅
WRX has a full time AWD system with real planetary center differential (CVT model). This BMW does not have a center differential at all, it uses Magna Actimax transfer case which decouples the front wheels when possible (eco pro mode) and the car is rwd. It wouldn't be that efficient with a real center diff awd system🙂 And it also has overinflated tires at 39psi. The WRX had 33/32psi front/rear. And i also think the drag coefficient of wrx is bigger. Because this m340i got the same MPG as the Supra 3.0 LoL. And it is also MHEV.
Nonetheless, it is a very good result for bmw.
28 mpg on a good day, I have yet to get 28mpg in my 21 WRX manual. My 2016 did read out 35mpg at 70mph or under but actual mpg is like 30mpg.
@@gaivoron In the same test WRX CVT had 28.5mpg on the computer and 29.25mpg calculated.
WRX manual had 31.2mpg on the computer. So it's not that bad 🙂
This bmw also has Miller Cycle.
@@Eugen-E my calculated is always over by +2-4mpg from actual mpg. Subaru has very optimistic mpg readouts.
@@gaivoron I think the car has a better way of calculating the MPGs than you because the pump doesn't fill your tank at the same level every time.
I recently bought a new 2023 BMW M340i xDrive.
It is a very enjoyable and fun driving machine.
Except..... I hate the controls on this irritating car.
Everything that you need to do you have to do through the center screen and many options are buried several layers deep.
It is a horrible, lousy, poor, very difficult and time consuming design.
Whoever designed this horrendous controls should be fired.
I wish I knew these designs fault as I would have never bought this car. It is my fault.
A big shame on BMW.
Check these controls before you buy this model.
You have been forewarned. Check everything thoroughly.
Hope BMW will redesign all the horrible and irritating controls for 2024.
Is it reliable. I have a 2019 rt charger I Wana trade in
