There is so little information on this type of issue for 35d's - thank you for the great DIY, even the dealership just shrugged their shoulders and still charged me for diagnostics, what a useless bunch.
Thank you! I do really like the M57, they are efficient and make great power and torque once they are deleted but parts are expensive and diagnosing can be a pain for sure even with ISTA+ I’m thinking about selling it soon to do more fun car stuff 🤞🏼
Thank you for posting this video. My 2009 x35d is doing a similar thing, except mine did not recover as well as yours after shutting down on my out on the road. Looks like I better order the fuel trifecta: pressure sensor, pressure regulator, and control valve. Did you reset or clear the adaptations when you changed any of yours?
@@TenmillGarage Do you know if the Foxwell 510 can do that procedure (to reset adaptations)? I have one and will look into that... otherwise I should get up to speed with an extra laptop and load ISTA+ to do it properly. I was able to bleed the fuel system with the Foxwell -- activate the low pressure pump after eliminating the fuel filter with TuneMyEuro's kit and relocation filter kit.
Updates 2/9/23 This is my diag report. The car has it towed around to 2 shops and now back home. I'm 1300 in so far with the X35d outside my house in VA I will attempt this myself. _____________report from shop________ Job01 Diag Stalling Issue Labor: 4.00 hrs@$178.00/hr=$712.00 Total repair quote $15,000 investigate vehicle no start. 0040e9 (DDE EGR position control) 00446c (DDE cylinder 6 injector activation) 00452a (DDE particulate filter system) 0047fe (DDE reducing agent meter valve activation) 004a14 (DDE cylinder 6 glow plug activation) 004b99 (DDE injectors activation bank 2) 004bbe (DDE cylinder 5 injector activation) Live tested fuel system. found low pressure fuel pumps in the engine sporadically faulty. This vehicle should most likely start with all new glow plugs if not done recently and all new injectors or injection system cleaning. Codes for egr because of clogged carbon. Wow, I have a story like this and I super appreciate you making this video.
Excellent! Easy to understand and clear spoken down to earth vocabulary with practical diagnostic pathways to the solution!

Thanks for the info, sound troubleshooting, narrow it down, then fire from the hip, and score!!
Try blowing through a wet paper towel vs a dry one. The soaked filter media makes it much more difficult to blow through.
Good point!
Great diag, and diy repair. Those m57’s aren’t very popular and most bmw techs won’t even work on them. So fixing it yourself is sick.

Yes I forgot to say you should be resetting adaptions after changing these parts.

@@ProsYouCanTrust I’m not familiar with Foxwell 510 unfortunately but if it can do those things I’m sure it can rest adaptions as well.
@@ProsYouCanTrust my Foxwell cannot reset all adaptations - in particular it will not reset/delete anything to do with the exhaust/emissions system
Do you have much information on the turbo flapper sticking can I service without removing the turbo
Sorry I’m not sure about that
You could’ve bled the system with the ISTA plus 17:56 just saying
17:33 ..diesel cant catch fire out of a spark
Yeah it’s unlikely but I’d rather be safe than sorry 🤷🏻♂️

I cleaned manifold of all carbon and put it back together. I have the 24 hour ISTA access but I'm having trouble installing it.
Thanks for the updates! Things going good now?
