Bullshit, I started at western express. I wasn't making enough to survive off of and they had me out for months straight without any hometime. I quit after my 4th month and it was the best decision I ever made. You don't need to stay a year at a bad company. If I would have stayed I would have never got to see my family, lost my house, my car and everything else.
Zack everybody in trucking know that Western like Swift are start up companies to get your feet wet. They do that run you hard and everything because they know truckers like you are in it for the money and as soon as you get a chance to make a lil more you gone. The reason I said drive for a year is that the Companies that will pay big money like for you to have a year of service. You say you don't see your family etc. This is Trucking the only way you gone make real money is to be out driving. Trucking is a life style not your regular 9 to 5. I wish you the best.
If you need your cdl an can’t afford to pay outta pocket you gotta do what you gotta do. Everybody told me not to go to swift. The pay was shitty but 7 years later I’m living a god life off of getting my cdl from them

But hey I just had to do what I had to do until I got the experience. I really paid for mine though because I didn't want any obligation to anything with my family and all and my kids being so young. So I paid for my own just so I can get the certification to always have. It didn't come out of the school and go straight into OTR or anything like that. But I did get a good job driving dump trucks making good money. I just want it better. Local jobs but I also have the certification to get on the road if I need so nothing wrong with paying for it yourself if you got the money to do so. But yeah you're right about the experience thing. I'm convinced that American Corporations would rather not pay a dime to employees. It's a capitalist system built from enslaved people after all. America has created a society of workers that are poor. If we can't keep truckers how will we get goods/products/food? The amount of greed is one of the main factors in the destruction of this country. I was trained to get an education, always have two streams of income and to level up within the organization.... only to become a number when you're near 60 and have to go out on medical leave. Worked at the company for 28 plus years. My advice for younger people is to work smarter not harder... depending on your situation. ✌🏾
I started in 1996. Back then the pay was 0.24 per mile. I am glad to see a lot of young people getting into the business. I have 10 more years n this and I am done. Save your money. Watch what you eat. Be thankful for what you have. Don’t let the pressure of the job get the best of you. That is the best advise I can give you. Thank you so much for the video.
Rule of thumb.... if they're in those catalogs or magazines at the truck stop thats been hiring every week for years, stay away!!! 99% of those companies use the same bs tactics.
Lol no they don't! I'm an independent contractor with Maverick and there's no company driver that's just starting out making that much money! You are either flatbed or glass with Maverick and it takes time to build speed to secure and tarp! And you have to drive the miles when you finish! But Maverick is a good company!
I was working as a trainee on a trainer truck, and he was supposed to pay me every time he wanted us to go home. 21 home days I still did not get paid for
Yes sir. I love Werner myself. You won't see top pay in year one. But they have accounts that pay very well. But you won't see them in year one. You have to put your time in. Everyone has to start somewhere. Most people don't understand the concept of working for what they want.
western is awful but also they are more lienient regarding background stuff if you are a new driver and need experience ... 6 + months drive with them then find something else..
You have to start out somewhere yall.. Especially if u dont have the funds to pay for your training. U may look into Unemployment or Welfare dept to get u into a Trucking school, which is an excellent, slower paced training. But company training and contract jobs can be a great thing too, again.. U got to start somewhere. If u go to a company theyll train and want u to sign a contract. Ask how long is the contract. 1 yr aint bad at all. Youll be learning for an average of 2yrs, even tho u may be off and running (able to work on your own) in 3 to 6 months.. really 2 months. Youll get better and better, is why i say avg. 2yrs. Ill Tell You what my trainer told me back in mid/late 2017 (and what almost all experienced drivers would say) .. Dont focus too hard on the money as a beginner, Focus on getting the skills. Of course u need your money, so of course u will keep your books and want to be sure and get paid right and what was agreed to (cause they will mess with your money) but be sure and get your skill out of it and keep your CDL clean as u can.. respect it.. even when your back in a regular car, those violations effect your cdl.. U dont even want someone else hitting u in another vehicle, whether youre in a Truck, or your regular car. Youre now a Profession Driver, and Not at fault accidents U Dont Want (u dont want that attention on your driving record) .. Its not the end of the world, but im just sayin. And minor mishaps wont kill u either.. Jus dont kill someone with the truck.. turn the truck over, etc. Companies.. CRST wasnt that bad for me in 2017 to 2018 (1yr contract) I was nervous / scared to sign for 1yr, starting @ .23cpm (cents per mile) and that 23 was split in half as a team driver.. So they called it .25 and teamining splits it so i made .12cpm I never got real big checks but i got the experience, luckily my bills were pretty low and i sold cars as a side gig when i would come back for home time. U got to start somewhere if u want to drive trucks.. about 60% dont even make it thru class room and yard training unfortunately for many reasons, such as their documents, failing drug tests, doing drugs and alcohol b4 they even hit the road, bein too much drama and causing problems. Ive seen so many get sent back home and alot of the times it was a shame because many were real good people that got disqualified.. some were pure azzholes. Just be serious.. Tell yourself "Youre not leavin with out your cdl, and success!!" And Youll Do It. Remember tho.. There is No Perfect company.. They have pros and cons. Even Owner Operators have issues.. Greedy brokers takin too much off the top is what nearly all of them say. I was an Owner too for a few months, until AB5 Law nightmare. I love you all, and I want to see and hear about yall makin it out there. Love and Merry Christmas to you. Peace

Schneider is a top company for new drivers to go to. They have top notch equipment, training, and facilities. They also pay for all flights, hotels, and rentals. Unlimited loads no matter what time it is. Starting there and gaining experience is fine. They are better than all 5 companies that you mentioned were good in your other video. I've worked for Schneider and JB Hunt before so I can speak on it.
Yea I know few drivers that went through Schneider and even starting out you can get paid better. Most companies put you up and have pretty good equipment. You’re definitely the first I heard say they are a top starter company.
@Pinkkstallionn Most people just don't like to drive or run their clock correctly. I only stay in my sleeper for 10hrs no matter what time I have to wake up.
Schneider fired me for needing training for backing after going through their mediocre cdl program and refused to hire me back because the jobs I went to after them I didn’t stay at long….

I worked for Schneider and my experience was ok, they're real big on safety which I'm glad I had a trainer that mentored me well. I had a local route starting out in a Box truck doing a touch freight route for 4 months then eventually went to Drop and hook no touch freight in a Tractor/Trailer 53' which was great. Western express calls themselves convict express when you’re at orientation. Their hotel has bed bug, it’s rundown, and in a bad area with shootings. They give you 1 thin dirty pillow and a scratchy thin wool blanket. The pipes smell and leak. You get paid nothing for orientation. The food they offer is worse than dog food. The employees are hourly, rude, and nonchalant. The guy doing my road test was interviewing for other companies over the phone while testing me. People had to Uber to orientation because the shuttle shows when it wants to instead of on time. People were sleeping in my bed and drinking after class. Trainers don’t show up for weeks and people are stuck there doing odd jobs for hourly wage until their trainers show up. While your training all the money made goes to the trainer and you get paid a flat fee per day from$65-99. They make you sign a non compete so you can’t leave for another carrier for 3-6 months. They’re a redemption company for people with accidents other companies won’t hire and people with records. Get your needed experience and go if you can afford the trial period it takes.
I've been a trucker for 20 yrs, and have been with half of those companies. She's telling the truth! Western Express, Schneider and C.R. England are starter/ knock around companies. If you're not fortunate enough to get into a comfortable outfit, companies like the ones she's talking about. Those are the kinds of companies you don't stay with. The only ways you make money with them is to either become a Trainer or ( I would NOT recommend ) go O/O. Again she's right!
I started with the Crash$Roll Academy, stayed about four months and moved on as I'd paid for my training up front. Stayed with a different reefer company for 21 years.
Lol I started off with CRST and I think their training was good at least for me. My first trainer sucked because he didn’t want to drive, but they put me with 1 million miler and I made good money every week for the last two weeks of training. I got a little best friend thinking that was the best way to go, but he was a micromanaging menace lol. We’re still cool. I left the company after two months and went over to transport America who paid me out of my contract with them. Now transport America is under CFI. I’ve been in some small companies coming home daily, and I at least would other companies. I work for Swift right now on a Walmart dedicated account in Texas and I do like it, except for working overnight which I hate. But I’m getting used to it and the coffee is going to work a little better lol. She is definitely right about these companies, CRST is kind of organized, but they’re lease trucks they give you just like US Xpress Are nearly over half 1,000,000 miles, they don’t guarantee you home time and you will sit in areas for multiple days. Companies like Bay and Bay transportation we’re good to me because they had way better trucks in their lease program is 70% of the load. They don’t give you trucks that have nearly a half 1,000,000 miles, they give you brand new trucks which are low as 50 miles and the same year.
I going to be honest I worked at Schneider, pay was decent for me cause I was otr but I worked butt off for 1200 a week, and I was micromanaged. I'd say only go there if your beginning, not a long term company for me
I did Scheider fresh outta school and I made the right decision. All of the companies that are willing to hire you are gonna pay you the low rate anyway so might as well get good training which I did. Their training is excellent and I definitely recommend the company for a beginner.
I’m 3 weeks out of school put in countless applications and nobody messing with me because my experience and Schneider just hit me back yesterday and said they will give me a chance I leave for orientation and training in a couple weeks
Schneider: It a hit or miss. The key is getting on the right account. From what I noticed a lot of drivers will get on an account and stay put. Most of the account are shitty but they do have some accounts that payed decent. As for micromanaging it depends on the DM/dispatcher you got. Personally for me after a couple weeks my dm figure out I knew my stuff so she left me alone.
I agree, I don’t hear from my DM more than once a month or if I call him. If your not making your deliveries on time taking to long of breaks or just generally have bad work ethic I can see why they would micro manage some people.
Dont forget Steven's Transport who won't let you go home either...and your right about CRST LOL BUT I guess It depends on your location. I was making net 1900 a week on a Walmart dedicated account out of Dallas TX
I spent 2 months at Western Express and to this very day i don't know i stayed that long. I got my CDL from CR England but never drove a single day for them.
If you're an experienced truck driver (meaning more than a year) avoid big companies that hire newbies fresh out of trucking school. They hire them because they'll work cheap just to get the experience. Also, companies that offer a high sign on bonus. They're obviously having trouble keeping drivers if they have to bribe them to sign on and there's a reason why drivers don't stay with them.
@@Solitude633 you don't get the sign on bonus in one big lump sum. You get a little added to your checks each week. It would take 2 to 3 years before you've received the full bonus.
@@Solitude633 if they just handed out big lump sum bonuses they’d be out of business. But the bonus is a scam, what they are doing is paying you low and over the course of a year or two they are paying you for what you would have already done. They bank off you not knowing any better. A lot of these companies aren’t the size the are by doing right by the drivers.

My husband worked for CRST for 6 months. They ended up deciding we were 4 blocks out of the hiring range, so no more home time, he got only 10 K in those 6 months, had very dangerous and sketchy driving partners. When you’re new, you need to start somewhere it’s really that simple. My advice to anybody get your CDL from your state not some trucking company but a trucking school. @@empathicone21 my honest opinion have whatever state you’re in send you to CDL school either through unemployment or some type of program and then go get some experience somewhere otherwise most trucking companies that train you aren’t going to pay you a big amount of money at all they’re gonna give you very low wages, and make you sign like a two or three year contract, and if you break it then you’re really in trouble
@@jx22283 I was grandfathered into it because I was driving a truck before the CDL came out in 1981 but a lot of employment agencies, more unemployment or the educational system for retraining and a lot of states will pay for your CDL class but like I said don’t go to some trucking company and have them teach you because then you have to sign a contract and they’re not gonna pay you very high honestly

I drove with Schneider the pay isn’t that well, but you will learn how to operate out here on the road and learn the right things to do. You have to start somewhere. If you’re new to trucking or looking to get into trucking I would recommend Schneider for starting out. You won’t have to worry about to much. And if you’re new don’t worry about the pay learn the game, the rules and the road and then do what you need to do afterwards. Just my opinion.
You telling the truth. I started driving trucks in 2015 with Warner Enterprise. I was only making 450 a week after taxes in training. Luckily I didn’t have any kids or any real bills at that time. I remember they were only paying you thirty cent a mile after training. I was averaging $680 to $735 take home after taxes. I got my one year of experience and got into flatbed.

I was specifically looking at Werner because I like warmer weather in the south and I heard that Werner drives more in the south than up north? Is that true? Do you know of other companies down south?
Schneider was definitely my lowest paying trucking job, a TON of micro managing but generally good people. I ultimately left because of the money. I’m local now with FedEx home daily and make more than I did at schneider

i worked with werner for about 6months then i went local. the pay was good to me. i was on a dedicated dollar general account. worse thing about that was some of those stores are in the middle of nowhere or in tight places…other than that it was good to me…If i could have came home every wknd then i probably would have stayed a lil longer. we had to stay out like 2wks/12 days before home time. if you’re in shape the unloading wont be hard but if you’re not in shape do something else.
I see some of the places their drivers deliver (Dollar General) and I'm like, "Fuck no." A lot of stores that have 'dollar' in the name also want you to unload and some floor load. They can keep that shit.

I wish you the best.

western is awful but also they are more lienient regarding background stuff if you are a new driver and need experience ...
Companies.. CRST wasnt that bad for me in 2017 to 2018 (1yr contract)
I was nervous / scared to sign for 1yr, starting @ .23cpm (cents per mile) and that 23 was split in half as a team driver.. So they called it .25 and teamining splits it so i made .12cpm
I never got real big checks but i got the experience, luckily my bills were pretty low and i sold cars as a side gig when i would come back for home time.

So they don’t put you in a hotel they have dorms?

I'd say only go there if your beginning, not a long term company for me
They fired me for hard breaking a week after a raise , with walmart private fleet now so fuckem

Preach. I just left them 4 months ago and am making 3x that where I'm at now. I'll have my year in 2 months along with my tanker and Hazmat Endorsements locked and loaded for my next move
#1-Swift, #2-CRST, #3 New England, #4-Western Express, #-5Prime
Very correct those 5 are horrible
Ima lay down sun knowledge to young 1s n ladies if u don’t have money to pay for school join 1 of those companies. Take the bad with a positive outlook in 1 year you will have training!!! Experience!!!! N Experience OTR lastly you’re still making money n get to see so much of U.S.A the opportunities are there don’t let it go to waste. Remember what you doing do it now get off your couch pick up the phone n google their phone numbers they will hire you and lastly just start do it!!!
I started with PAM, CRST, and CR England. and she's right about CRST, they really don't want you home. Good experience, though, gets you road experience everywhere, though
DOTS LOGISTICS out of Tennessee..worked for them for a week..made one load and picked up a load..came home tht Friday..they sent someone to pick the truck up Sunday..never saw the truck and STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED PAY
Oh wow I been hearing a lot of this happening in the industry
Why did they do that?
Just started my trucking career last week. Dont want to mention the company name _yet_ , but the only reason i lasted a week was because it took *that* long to get to the delivery-sites, unload, and get back to the DC due to the various breakdowns. Dropped off the truck 5hours ago & got stranded after they promised me a ride to the train-station 30miles away
Edit to add; Didnt want to get a LoadAbandonment right out the gate, so tried sticking with it
Yea in trucking you gotta do what you have to do. Hopefully, your next company will be better.
That’s so true, you did the best you could do by sticking it out as long as you did, but sometimes the present company that you are with isn’t the company for you. Stick with it, weigh your options, and get back out there turning them wheels. Good luck to you and be safe out there
Okay so where SHOULD we go ? Lol
She has videos of good ones
I use to drive for a company called Honest trucking. Take a guess about how honest they were to drivers
😂😂😂
so what’s a list of good ones? Especially for newbies?
She has videos of good ones
Crappy companies are magnets for crappy drivers.
Run as fast as you can from Western Express, if you have a good DM and the terminal in your area I’ll say try it but regional only no OTR
I don't know anything about Western Express, but CR England is virtually the worst company to work for.
Look I made the great mistake of working with CR England. I mean this with sincerity guys, she's completely right its been miserable for me.
Are you still there?
@@TruckerActivity2 yeah im a new driver. I've been here for 6 months now. It's been an awful experience low cpm little in the way of transparency with your DM and pathetic operation systems lol. Just bad bad.
@@TruckerActivity2do you know (milsped) company in Europe I got job offer should I join or not please reply me

Once u a new driver u shouldn't just focus on the money it's the experience & being a safe defensive driver I went to werner I did make money lern alot now I'm driving for wlmart private fleet the big boys over 100gs my first year
Just got through with Werner it was ok made 1k a week take home wise and was home for a 34 hour reset . The problem I had was the reset I’m a family oriented person and I wasn’t able to spend time with my family like I wanted to I’m 27 going on 28 and I want to enjoy what’s left of my 20s while being local
Dang.. I just finished orientation with Werner and I was worried about this. Being out 2 weeks and home 2 days doesn't seem worth the money if it's only 1000-1500 a week. But i think foe a 3-6 month plan to get experience then switch to something else, sounds like the play
Idk how much experience you got but it’s gone be hard to be local without at least a year, it’s doable for sure but that local company gone make you work for it.
$1000 a week? That ain’t shit you can make more than that local and working a regular job
What’s the average pay for a fed ex driver around DFW area?
Been thinking about applying…thank you!
Were else can a new cdl out of school but a major fellon go to??
I just started with swift. I'm apart of the Walmart contract and I'm home every night. I love it
Where are you located?

@michaelgladney9657 do you stay in Kansas city Missouri
@@chancelee4070 Kansas city Missouri
I started w/ western express just for the experience bc no other company would do it got my 4 months went local w/ Crst
got my cdl through CRST bout a hundred years ago. Had to agree to stay with them for 1 year after, which I did, then got the heck out. Had my CDL 23 years now, but retired due to medical issues.
I’m fresh out of school but I’m a felon with a accident on my record but I’m trying to avoid western express where they sending me 2 Help help help
That’s really the only option or Ptl
i worked with werner for about 6months then i went local. the pay was good to me. i was on a dedicated dollar general account. worse thing about that was some of those stores are in the middle of nowhere or in tight places…other than that it was good to me…If i could have came home every wknd then i probably would have stayed a lil longer. we had to stay out like 2wks/12 days before home time. if you’re in shape the unloading wont be hard but if you’re not in shape do something else.
I see some of the places their drivers deliver (Dollar General) and I'm like, "Fuck no." A lot of stores that have 'dollar' in the name also want you to unload and some floor load. They can keep that shit.
We're u went local
What your pay was if you don’t mind me asking weekly? After taxes
Heartland Express also super micro management.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions about Schneider, Werner and CRST. I was looking hard at them and was coming to that same conclusion.
WOW! I thought Schneider was a good company.
@@ne9835 MY School WARNED US TO NOT go there!!!!!!
That's the top 5 not to go to what is the top 10. Jb hunt should be on the list of companies not to go to. Imo the pay is always lower than it should be for each account, at least in fl
CRST is where I received my CDL & they are horrible 😢 HT is iffy & the pay was ass😯
Go to p.t.l. in Paducah KY/us express/or swift it's easy
Schneider don’t pay driver good money. You totally right. Find a good company to work for.
Thanx for this info! Watcha think about US Express?
I can't take this list serious if SWIFT isn't on the list.
Ok

@@TruckerActivity2 There is a reason in the Trucking industry, we all refer to them as Not so Swift trucking! With many videos like this out there ua-cam.com/video/ymcVlDCZRSo/v-deo.html
CRST recruiter told me 'That is the stupidest question I've ever heard " when I asked about staying out of Chicago, NYC and LA.
Wow I definitely believe it. I heard they be hanging up on you and everything.
CRST was a great experience for me.. They are the epitome of “We match your energy” You go in there causing problems and complaining, they treat you as such. You show them you’re a problem solver and want to make money, they’ll find money and home time for you. 1800+ a week, solo, flights for my hometime anywhere I decided, rentals, hotels. They took care of me, without micro managing.
Wait I thought it was a team company?
@@ithegeneral106 Majority of the lanes are, once you get away from the expedited side and start getting to the dedicated accounts they have solo opportunities.
FACTS
Yeah, Im also greatful to CRST. I had a 1yr contract from them training me, I started 7/1/17 hit the road with a trainer 8/1/17 (cause i was held up a week for a new birth cert)
Did team driving that whole time, didnt make great pay but it was ok.
Only stayed the 12 months to fulfill my contract, but at 4 months in i was pretty upset and took a job elsewhere, while playin them off (didnt quit).. ended up coming back to continue and complete my contract.
Back then the lease purchase operaters claimed to have been making average of 4500 per week, 2500 was what i would hear of for a low week, and the bad experience lease op driver i spoke to said they wouldnt give em much or any loads at all, and that would be stressful due to u bein responsible for truck payment, insurance and your personal bills and expenses. I only had 1 person tell me about that night mare tho.
Most lease purchase (experienced) drivers had good experiences.
Keep in mind.. this was from 7/2017 to around 2020 when i would talk to them, even tho i left 8/17 .. I would still go up there sometimes tho i worked elsewhere lol
Yeah I did good at western it’s what you make it
Schneider keeps me rolling but the pay should definitely be better
It was great before they went public. Now it's dog shit
I don’t know about yall her accent is sexy as hell

I could watch and learn from here all day❤
I just started with this company KLLM im just in training on tha road 🛣️ right now im just gettin started so my pay is minimum wage at tha moment but once my training is done and i start driving solo then i'll kno if this a good company but gotta work on gettin ur Class A CDL no matter where u go just gotta stick wit tha program get through it best way possible none of these trucking jobs are perfect but it gives u a good start to achieve that goal up ahead💯
