That's some great money. You can save up $2k real quick and buy a decent car to get around with and then later on save up and get a decent pick up truck.
Very true, but with me not having a car before (from a dealership), my interest and insurance would be through the roof. That's why I'm waiting. But I considered it many times. I'm waiting until next year.

If you don’t mind me asking, what company is your health and dental insurance through? How long do you have to be employed there before you’re eligible to start receiving benefits?
Shoot! I can never remember the name, unfortunately. But I know for dental, my dentist said it's rare, but we have the one that pays 100% up to I believe 1k per year, and she said she's never seen that before, maybe once. And I think you're eligible as soon as you finish training (don't let me lie) and I'm not sure for those who already possess a CDL with experience. I'm sorry that I don't have more information on that. I hope I helped some🙏🏽if I find out more, I'll be sure to let you know
PDIEM is money that you are not being taxed on. If you take your total taxable pay and add your PDIEM, you will get your total gross pay. Just finished orientation last week in Jackson. Start with trainer on Monday.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! So I'm not getting paid extra for it. It's just a non taxable amount... got it. I appreciate that bro because I never knew🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽And that's what's up, bro!! Aye mane, time to get to it💪🏽
😅😅I'm so sorry, haha. Your name for me is, @user-tg4ks4wl4y lol. And I do my best to be as honest as I can be and explain things the best I can so people can make the best decision for themselves. I appreciate your love and support, sis! Drive safe, put on these roads, and take your time, especially backing up. Much love🙏🏽
Not really, just that it's usually hard to get on from what I heard. I believe I broke down the pay in the hometime video, I can't remember to be honest brodie
Hey when they send you a pre-plan does it tell you pick up and delivery times, customers and if it’s drop and hook or live load? And are they forced dispatch? Thx
Yes, yes, and yes. What do you mean by forced dispatch? If you mean like you aren't allowed to deny a load, I don't believe you can unless you are lease purchase.
What's Ty ! Great videos, very informative. You are doing great, but be careful so many days, hours, remember your body and mind needs to rest. Be careful out there. Ty ! At KLLM do they allowed spouse's (wife) to ride with the driver? I hope you answer. Thank you.
Hey bro! (If I ever don't respond, leave another message, I try and always reply.) I appreciate the support🙏🏽And thank you for the advice, I definitely try and bring peace to my mind and body. And absolutely! They allow spouse and children (I believe at least 4 years old and up) and also pets. I know people who live on the truck with their wives, so you're good there. You are very welcome, man, and thank you as well. Stay blessed!👐🏽🙏🏽
Well here's the thing, they normally don't hire out of Maryland (I'm originally from Louisiana, so that's where my license is located) HOWEVER they just opened up an account that might be good for you and you can talk to the recruiter about it. DM me on Instagram when you have the chance, and I can give you more information about it. Big_Smooth_Truckin I hope this helps🙏🏽🙌🏽
I most definitely ran my butt off! I come to make that money lol. But I actually think I only drove at night once, and I took multiple 34hr breaks. I only ran off of recaps on the way home, I run hard when I have a load but I know how to take a break too, lol. Don't want to burn myself out
Did KLLM explain the background check as far as how far they go back? And if they check juvenile records? I got a felony at age 13 and am 39 next month. I understand they use Driver iQ for background checks.
So im on my first week of training. My trainer is doing a 34 reset im staying outside his house in the truck. He tells me if you get up before me clean the inside of the truck thats your duty. Its 5am Ive been driving my 11 till the last minute😂 is cleanhis truck my duty???
Absolutely not!!!!!!! Mane that is HIS duty. You clean up after yourself and that's about it. Actually, he can get in trouble if you reported his truck being dirty.
Don't let him bully you bro. You don't have to clean up after another man, he's supposed to be training you and that's it. If you clean up after yourself, his truck is his responsibility, not yours.
Also, he seems like the type to say you can't keep the truck running as you sleep for the 34hr break. If you cold, have that truck running, if you're hot, have that truck running. He can't take advantage of you like that smh.
Do you think I could ask my student rep to switch me trainers? I had asked for a non smoker but he was the only one available. But I’ve been getting really bad headaches because of it. Im scared they will stop my pay
Oh, my bad, I do have dental as well. I'm actually going to not have vision next year because I had gotten Lasic a few months back. But I definitely have dental

@cwc8979 Good question, bro. I think you're in the perfect situation! Definitely do good research and make sure that's the company you want to go with, but that's awesome. You'll definitely get used to the longer hours over time. I do have a video on "how to stay awake while driving," but with time, you'll learn how to handle it better.
@cwc8979 Before getting into trucking, I've never driven that many hours before. Actually, I rarely drove ever. Besides being single, I was pretty much in the same boat as you and I think it's a great job to have in your situation, you can work and save every dime and live in the truck. Ours come with a refrigerator and everything. You just buy your own microwave or airfryer, and you're good. Even comes with a TV mount, so I be on the PS5 or watching a movie with my wifi. Great career
@@bigsmoothtruckin Thanks for replying back, you’re with KLLM right? I was following a cute UA-cam girl working for KLLM and she left them after 5 months I think because she said they were not paying her on time and something about her miles…..if you’re interested in that video I can link it but what you said is awesome for your situation……I’m proud of your success in Trucking and hopefully I can have that same success 👍
Man you doing good. You better be stacking that money up. You better be saving $1k a week and not spending any when you get home. Buy your own truck. You from DMV? 👍👍👍
@SincerelyKamryn Honesty, it was easy, fast, and fun even. They make sure you know most of everything before you start driving along, and it's hard to fail. That's my experience at the Jackson MS school, at least. I'm not too sure about other schools but I heard good things about the school in Burns Harbor IN.
shid im going home monday bro, it’s been 5 weeks for me on the road i stacked up a good bit this past week was a little slow due to problems with my reefer
@@bigsmoothtruckin nope not home yet i was in bama, had to drive back to atl for a load that i’ll be dropping at the yard then i’m goin home in louisiana
@CartierJay That's good. Did you want to take that load? They're supposed to get you home by midnight the day that you had scheduled. If not, you can call your dispatcher and let them know you gotta be home. I've only been late to home time once in my almost year. Don't let them run over you, brodie🙏🏽
Yup, and that adds up to about 1,500 a week, and I had a bad week in that time. But if you do the math of what I made for the year, it's about 1,400 a week, and that's not bad at all. (I made 72k for the year and decided that by 52 weeks, and that's your answer)
Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George, he's actually a black composer. Most of his work and history were destroyed, being such a great black musician. You should look him up, he has great work. They also recently made a movie about him (not all is accurate, of course, but still a good movie). He did a lot in his time. I'm glad you asked.
So they dont lie about anything?? And how good is the comapy.. there are so many companies that will say anything just to get u in..so i want to know how good they are
I feel everyone lies about something, especially larger companies. And if not a lie, it could be just misleading. But overall, KLLM is actually a good company and a pretty honest one. I have 90% good reviews for them, bro. Great pay as well
@@bigsmoothtruckin she half pit and she about 70 I think going to go weigh her this wkend.. I would like to go there..or the other company I'm thinking is national carriers...
I'd say just call a recruiter and see if you're in the right area/region and they'll get you set up immediately. They do do a hair folical test as well. But its super easy if you're in a close area to them
How much driving experience did you have at the time of this video? I ask because I’m three months in at my job I’m getting my experience through them but I’m trying to see my checks like yours lol.
Haha, I appreciate that, brodie. December makes a year, so I believe that means at the time of this video I had 10 months? What company are you currently with? I might make a video on my first checks, but they didn't look too much differently.
@@bigsmoothtruckin I’m currently with Western express out of Pennsylvania. Right now I’m at 0.42 cpm. I’m hoping it’ll go up because I been running 1700-2000 a week.
Oh, okay. Well, I would recommend maybe calling KLLM and see if they'd hire you with the 3 months experience, or once you get 6 months' experience, you can see about Martin transportation. They have a lot of guaranteed pay positions. (If you're thinking about changing companies) because .42 isn't terrible starting pay, but only 1,700 - 2,000 miles a week is pretty low. That's even low for me (unless you're getting home every day, then I don't know)
Just another truck driver here. I don't know how old you are, but I noticed you're not contributing to your company 401k. You should definitely contribute, at least up to what they'll match. Anyway. Get some experience and go LTL linehaul I'd you want to make more money and be home every day/every other day.
@NarcolepZZZZZ This is the kind of love I appreciate, bro! I didn't know about 401k originally, but I enrolled for 2024, thank you. And what's LTL linehaul? I haven't heard of that
If by slip seat you mean give me a new truck? I can't speak on that🤫🤫And with that answer, you should know the answer if you catch what I'm throwing (don't wanna get in trouble, lol)
@@bigsmoothtruckin - Without saying so much. Man it is probably a good idea to clear out your truck and clean that sucker real good to help prevent mold and mildew on such long trips especially with a fridge and 12V freezer.
@@Red2kTA Most definitely bro. I keep mine clean for sure, I spray the fridge down and after it's cleaned, I spray the whole interior with 90% alcohol. My girl is a germaphobe so yea haha. Got a rug and everything for the truck, I like it nice and clean.
I like to do that with the gross pay for others because everyone gets taxed differently. But with getting paid by the mile and not by the hour, I like to show people each week lol. I appreciate the advice though, bro🙏🏽🙏🏽
Peace brother, who complained? Every part of this video was positive. In life, there are good and bad times, and I appreciate all of them. However, this video is literally about how well they pay.
Did OTR back in the late 90's with Werner, first of the drivers with electronic logs. This job was some of the biggest BS I've ever had to deal with in life and that includes the US Army. NO thanks
Right! Lol. However, most that say that the pay isn't good is usually not working hard enough. When it comes to driving trucks, in many ways, you are your own boss. So when drivers are lazy and get paid well, they tend to blame the company instead of themselves (like in many other things.) Hence the reason I started this channel to begin with, to show people the truth and what is possible and obtainable.
@goodymob9638 Exactly. This is my most requested video, and I didn't even feel like making it at the time, lol. I had just got home for my time off. I was monotone the whole video😭

Good things about Per-Diem: You pay less taxes
Bad things about Per-Diem:

-The term “per-diem” is BS…”per-diem” is supposed to be a dollar-for-dollar REIMBURSEMENT by the COMPANY for your expenses, not some little break on your taxes, so the name is misleading.
-Some companies charge you 1cpm for keeping track of your per-Diem (which is total BS because it’s effortless for them) but some companies don’t.

How many months have you been with KLLM so far ?
December 21st makes a year so a little less than 11 months right now.
My brother all love🤝🏾
Yes, sirrr, you know it.🙏🏽Stay blessed bro, nothing but blessing around us if we look for it.
@@bigsmoothtruckin yooo just tested out last Wednesday start orientation tomorrow
Niceeeeeeeeeee!! Bag chasing time
How much is there medical family plan just got my CDL looking for a company with good medical
There is medical A and B (A is more expensive), and I have B. My medical is $46.06 a week.
@@bigsmoothtruckin thanks for the info thinking about kllm haven't made my mind up yet
No rush, man. Do your research. KLLM is a great company imo, but definitely not the best. I'm here to share knowledge, not convince anyone🙏🏽
U drop off in amarillo!! I live in amarillo.. what did u drop off
Dope, bro!! I believe I dropped off cheese in Amarillo, at a kraft food if I'm not mistaken
Yo wtf thats good pay man i have experienced do you recommend i try them out. ?
You'll need at least 3 months of experience. If you do, then I'd definitely say call them and give them a shot.
You're getting payed .64CPM bro!! Nice!!!
Right!? Some of the highest paying from what I've seen, as a company driver that is. It dropped 5 cents for newcomers last time I heard.
Is the kllm in Jackson Ms?
One of the schools and terminals. Yes. There is also a school in Indiana and a terminal in a few other places
Man you doing good. You better be stacking that money up. You better be saving $1k a week and not spending any when you get home. Buy your own truck. You from DMV? 👍👍👍
Most definitely, i try and save 70% - 80% of each check. And no, I'm originally from Louisiana, only been on Baltimore 2 years
Don't buy your own truck your making good money
Yoo do you think I can get my cdl at a school who recruits for KLLM & will KLLM give me a tuition reimbursement for it ?
That I'm not sure about a reimbursement but you might be able to go to the school here
When did you start driving in the year?
I started driving solo on December 24th, I believe. So this December makes a year
@@bigsmoothtruckin Thanks, man. I'll be starting KLLM Academy Nov. 6.
@@zebageba How was the academy ? Enrolling soon
Also, I hope everything goes smoothly and that you like it🙏🏽
shid im going home monday bro, it’s been 5 weeks for me on the road i stacked up a good bit this past week was a little slow due to problems with my reefer
Yes, sirrrrr!🙏🏽That's how you do it. I know you're happy to finally be home, though. I love making money, but when I'm home, man is it peaceful.
I hope the problems weren't too bad
@@bigsmoothtruckin nope not home yet i was in bama, had to drive back to atl for a load that i’ll be dropping at the yard then i’m goin home in louisiana
@CartierJay That's good. Did you want to take that load? They're supposed to get you home by midnight the day that you had scheduled. If not, you can call your dispatcher and let them know you gotta be home. I've only been late to home time once in my almost year. Don't let them run over you, brodie🙏🏽
Was at kllm in 2016 and the fact you ran 3700 miles In a week is insane 😂
Mane! You should have seen my shock as well. Those are numbers I thought was impossible before I did it😭😭🙏🏽
Add the total up from each 7 weeks divided by 7. That will give you your average weekly earning
Yup, and that adds up to about 1,500 a week, and I had a bad week in that time. But if you do the math of what I made for the year, it's about 1,400 a week, and that's not bad at all. (I made 72k for the year and decided that by 52 weeks, and that's your answer)
You started with KLLM right out of CDL school?@@bigsmoothtruckin
hey bro i had a quick question, do yk if otr drivers get a holiday bonus for staying out on the road for holidays
For Christmas, yes, I'm not sure about Thanksgiving, and I'm not sure how much, I'll try to remember to ask my dispatcher tomorrow
@@bigsmoothtruckin ok thanks, i’m going home today and when i come back i was planning on staying on the road until christmas
Which composer is it bro?
Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George, he's actually a black composer. Most of his work and history were destroyed, being such a great black musician. You should look him up, he has great work. They also recently made a movie about him (not all is accurate, of course, but still a good movie). He did a lot in his time. I'm glad you asked.
62 gov 65 on cruise?
Yup. 62mph on the pedal. 65mph on cruise, 67-70 mph on pass smart 3× per day. 30 minutes each (hard to explain)
Great pay as well
@@bigsmoothtruckin well I can't do them anyways cuz of my dog is to big...
What kind and how big?
@@bigsmoothtruckin she half pit and she about 70 I think going to go weigh her this wkend.. I would like to go there..or the other company I'm thinking is national carriers...
@@bigsmoothtruckin are u still with them or u with someone else?
I wanna get in with kllm. How did u go about it ?
I'd say just call a recruiter and see if you're in the right area/region and they'll get you set up immediately. They do do a hair folical test as well. But its super easy if you're in a close area to them
Did anybody catch covid-19 in your class at kllm?
No. I started October 2022, we didn't have masks or anything, Cov had died down. No one from my knowledge had caught anything.
I haven't heard of that
So the big question is that by going out for 7 weeks and staying home for 14 days, did they slip seat your truck?
If by slip seat you mean give me a new truck? I can't speak on that🤫🤫And with that answer, you should know the answer if you catch what I'm throwing (don't wanna get in trouble, lol)
@@bigsmoothtruckin Gotcha brother
@@bigsmoothtruckin - Without saying so much. Man it is probably a good idea to clear out your truck and clean that sucker real good to help prevent mold and mildew on such long trips especially with a fridge and 12V freezer.
@@Red2kTA Most definitely bro. I keep mine clean for sure, I spray the fridge down and after it's cleaned, I spray the whole interior with 90% alcohol. My girl is a germaphobe so yea haha. Got a rug and everything for the truck, I like it nice and clean.
@@bigsmoothtruckin - ABSOLUTELY brother. A clean truck is a good truck. Feel free to DM me your cleaning techniques.
Add up a month worth of net pay, divide that by 4 that will give you an average of your weekly net earnings
I like to do that with the gross pay for others because everyone gets taxed differently. But with getting paid by the mile and not by the hour, I like to show people each week lol. I appreciate the advice though, bro🙏🏽🙏🏽
Week 3 they said naa slow his cash up
lmaooo
Facts bro! I thought the same thing haha
I’m with marten my guarantee 1350 and they love to give the bare minimum. $1100-1300 shit sucks
Dang, hoe long have you been with them. And are you OTR??
Making around 56K with 4-5K held out is a decent amount and you should see a refund on your federal for that year.
Yes sirrrrrr🙏🏽🙏🏽And I'm ready for it too! Haha.
@@bigsmoothtruckin - If you need any help with that let me know. My family has been in taxes for over 50 years lol.
Thanks bro. Keep the rubber side down. Peace.
No doubt bro! And rubber side down? I'm a little slow at times, lol. What does that mean?
Means dont flip your truck. Don't crash lol
Ohhhh haha. Appreciate that, I never heard that before
Lol bro im on the way put in my app halfway through the video
Hahaha! That's what's up, man! It's good money for real, the most money I've made so far. I hope everything goes as planned for you, brodie!🙏🏽💪🏽
Don't complain
Peace brother, who complained? Every part of this video was positive. In life, there are good and bad times, and I appreciate all of them. However, this video is literally about how well they pay.
Alhamdulillah

Did OTR back in the late 90's with Werner, first of the drivers with electronic logs. This job was some of the biggest BS I've ever had to deal with in life and that includes the US Army. NO thanks
Oh wow, yea, I hear a lot of bad things with Werner, I'm sorry to hear that, bro. I personally wouldn't work with them either (unless I had to)

@@upinsmokedre420 What point of the video are you referring to? And I likely was out of time or something, lol
Perez David Young Jessica Clark Timothy
Anybody complaining saying this isn’t enough money.. you a damn fool lol.
Right!
