- DONT USE SAVE MODE
Save your fuel..waste of time unless your battery is above 92% when save mode wont charge your battery...use Regen in sports mode..
Save mode only to actually save your battery for later use not to charge...awful mpg if you charge with save mode ...
I just got a 330e and watched your video. Really helpful. Though I don’t have a charge point yet and yesterday I used saved mode and it charged 40% in 1 hour of traffic so I was quite impressed.
KK how do you like your car?
@@MSH3423 I like it very much, but I usually only buy BMW. As I don’t have a home charger and the cold winter drains the battery I do not really see much in the way of saving on fuel... but it is fast!
@@KK-ol5ov Is it reliable?
@@ksr2513 the car is very reliable. I still have mine and it’s been great. You get the electric acceleration that is fast. In winter though the battery does not last long but with the warmer temperatures the battery lasts longer.
Living in NYC 🗽, i believe that you are absolutely right based on where you live. however, you did not talk about the best way to drive in heavy traffic of 0-20mph. over here, you will risk getting pulled over for going over 29.. (unless you are on the high way, where the speed limit is 65.)
when this 0-25 mph traffic is the case, i only drive in save battery mode, with eco pro or comfort while in traffic.
why? as you mentioned, save battery does tank the mpg, but ecopro’s lowered regenerative makes the car a little more fuel efficient because doesn’t let the engine go as crazy which makes it okay despite saving battery
although i’m in save battery mode, the car’s engine does turn off, and stays off until i reach speeds of 10mph… but quickly turns off again
when in traffic, i think save battery is good otherwise it will drain your entire battery while you’re moving slowly.
there is a lack of places to charge your car here too. i mainly charge my car on the high way on sports/save battery and keep it in save battery to maintain my % at around 25-75%. i switch to auto at around 60-80%
If you can.... dont turn on the air con as it proper reduces the electric battery range. Mine charges upto 27miles max range after about 5 hrs charge. I do a 4 mile trip and with air con on, states i can only do another 16 miles for next trip. Turn air con off says i can do another 20 miles for next trip. So if you can avoid using air con on small trips it will deffo save you some battery juice 😊
What mpg you getting mate ? does the elec motor help on the motorway in a sort of hybrid mode ? Or does it exclusively use petrol on high speed and elec on low speed ?
@@adamannetts51 Hi. I get 50mpg on a 60-70 mph motorway run but thats with air con on. The car switches to electric at slower speeds if in hybrid mode. You can do solely electric upto 70mph but will only do 20 miles so best left in hybrid and let it do its thing.
@@Hitman-os1sp Hi, thanks for the info. May I ask which battery size your car has come with for getting 27 miles range after 5 hrs charge? I'm a bit confused because the earlier model come with a 7.6kwh battery, then 9.2kwh (year 2018 model i guess) and then 12kwh (2020 model).
@@kolchenskanrailwayproducti9641 i have the 2017 model. It was an ex fleet car i believe so not sure if that helps with being charged up and draining a lot as lots of usage
Hey thanks for the knowledge and the video training session. I'll bet you were a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins my favorite movie as a kid! I didn't understand a word they sang either! Thanks all the same mate! Ha ha!
Thanks for all the details. Your advice works also for the BMW 225xe as well. Thanks
Thanks... glad to help out
I have the 330e, I travel from Nottingham to Luton every 6 days and on empty battery in 30 minutes on motorway M1 I get 92% charged up (14 miles on motorway) once this goes to 0% charged I switch to save again and get another 14miles to use on motorway after 30mins at 70 mph.
Not sure about not using save mode as either way you’re using fuel to drive unless in pure electric.
I will be trying sports mode to save and drive day to day.
I really used save mode, for the reason of poor mpg, while charging the battery... I always used sports mode for max regen..
How was the MPG in the motorway when you did that?
The different modes don’t really have a big impact… once you’re in max e drive your car is limited to most efficient mode of driving. I get 50-60mpg which is brilliant on motorways. Diesel is meant to be better but the money you save on long commutes are crippled due to your local urban driving as diesel is only worthwhile on consistent speeds of over 40 mph.
If this 330e had at least 12/20kwh battery it would’ve been one of the best cars to own. Volvo v60 diesel hybrid is the no.1 hybrid car.
Can someone get this guy a glass of water? ... Completely depends on your charging capabilities, driving style and where you live. I live in Southern California in an apartment where I can not charge. I drive from Long Beach to Venice (30mi.) in traffic, in Eco Pro/ Save. I arrive at work with 70% battery charge. My engine rarely kicks on for my commute home, unless I go over 50mph. It's all about what works for you.
I just bought a 2018 330e M sport....I love the car but I'm not too sure about the suspension. The car feels every groove in the road and therefore pulls in that direction. A little annoying but hopefully the fuel savings will have me overlook that.
How are your fuel savings what sort of mpg are you getting?
@@Tt_seriesindia I get 15 miles after a night of charging at home from your average wall outlet. It's perfect for me because I live inner city and can pretty much just use my car as like a sporty golf cart haha. I'm very satisfied.
Also people should know there IS road tax as it’s now due to price of vehicle when new
Historic road tax pre 1st April 2017 is frozen so you can pick up one of these registered pre that date and still take advantage of £0 tax ;). A few 16, 66 & 17 plates available with £0 tax. If registration was after this date then that rule applies :).
Thanks mate good tips 👍
Just got 330e excited, very helpful guidance
Thank u
Great video thanks
Thank you
Great advice👍🏻
Great video. When re charging, in battery mode did you lose a lot petrol?
Yes not worth it
HI Seve716 , really useful video mate. I test drove one in Maidstone yesterday its a 2017 model which is now 5 years old.
Thank you
Sportmode uses around 30l - 40l / 100km when accelerating even on a small speed. I wouldn't really recommend it for "getting battery charge"
Thank you sir
So to charge the battery while on the move, best combo to use is Sports-AutoEDrive?
Yes definitely...auto/sports youll regenerate more power
And burn more fuel?
Ive bought a 2018 330e couple days ago. Lovely and comfortable drive. Can the battery charge driving under 50 mph?
Only with regen or save mode(if under 90%)
Yes

Is the economy still effective?
@@imadh02 truthfully I was promised better from normal driving but it's somewhat normal like stock and I run it on Tesco momentum stage 1 93 octane even when your putting you foot down definitely not as bad as a golf r and twice as fun I average 23 mpg when I put my foot down and 28-30 mpg on normal this is without charging the car obviously
@@amranali1617 that's not too bad, does it drink more at the higher speeds?
You SHOULD use save mode but only if you know how to properly
Yes just dont charge your battery will save mode...no point at all
My overall goal is to always have it as sporty as possible, but I also want it always in electric mode unless I decide to push the paddle to activate the engine. Would sport/max edrive do this for me? Thanks.
Thanks mate
Hey Steve, I also have a F30 330e. I am having trouble because i find my self fueling very often up. Can you tell me whats the maximum Range in km you achive with a full tank an full charge. And what kind of mode you use for that. I realy like the car but its less efficent than my old Sports car. Thanks
Hi i dont own my 330e no more but remember its only a small petrol tank.. 40 ltr i believe ....so i cant actually remember my best kilometer per tank... but i would recommend to use sports mode on long journeys for max regen ...
@@steve7163 Did you like the car ?
@@MSH3423 ideal car if your work place is no further than a 25 mile round trip..is it any cheaper to run than a 320d no not really...but its more fun than a 320d for sure..
My car will charge to 100 with save mode . Not saying it’s efficient but it absolutely does go to 100.
You filmed a video for YT specifically and did so in portrait (vertical) mode? Why?
Hi mate the thing I’m worried about is if u overcharge pretty much anything the battery will be damaged. Does the car automatically stop changing once it is at max capacity ?
Yes absolutely it does
@@steve7163 thanks mate lool I was gonna say otherwise a 3 or 4 yr old second hand one would have knackered batteries otherwise
I have same model and i use save mode when cruising on the motorways. I find this charges the battery in 15mins of cruising.
What drive mode are you doing this in?
Really helpful mate thanks just bought one, did you not have to pay the £400 odd road tax for the first five years 🙄 I have just had to pay it
No mate mine was a 2016 model
The road tax in Uk is 145 per year

Eco pro mode every time after starting the car
You can only do this by coding the car.....via the obd port
thank you sir
The content is cool, just wush you were recording landscape...
Yes thanks ... i know rubbish sorry
what is your fuel consumption?
Hi , I have the same car but 2018 model . when I fully charged the battery it shows 18 miles range on EV mode . how your car range is 44 miles ?
Guys if you want 340i but can't get insured since I'm young get this I'm getting 0-60 under 5 secs 400 bhp took the engine to 330i specs and electric boost no one can keep up with me
Hi, did you have to swap the turbo?
Where did u get it mapped from?

Thinking about getting this model. What mpg are you getting mate ? My commute is 7 miles to the A38 then 20 miles on the A38 - 4 miles into Plymouth.
Is this the right car ? I’m thinking I could use electric for to get to the A road and then use elec in the towns ? Concerned about the mpg on the a road though.
I was hoping I could commute to my work and back which 28 miles in total using just electric, but unfortunately it wouldn't make it ... only manage 20-25 miles ....I've now switched back to diesel.. as I can achieve 60mpg ...so in the long run the cost is lower...
Stupid question, but how can you view driving modes on the main screen (tablet)?
Hi mate, thinking about buying one of these...How long does it take to charge at home and then how long does a fast charging station take (from closest to 0%)?
About 2-3 hrs on a public charger home around 5hrs perfect car if you work local to home
@@steve7163 Thanks mate, appreciate it.
I was looking to get one of these until I read that a replacement hybrid battery was around £6000 to replace 😲

@@knifti6810 yea I wouldn't really want to put a piece of shit used battery in my prestigious bmw otherwise I'd buy an old Prius 😂

What is the real mpg mix and haw many miles you cover with a full tank and just 1 100% charge?Tanks guys!
Just bought the car. If you work in the cuty local youll use almost no fuel. On a long motorway journey youre looking at around 46-60mpg depending how you drive.
I havent reset my trip computer for 770KM and ive averaged 4.8L per 100km. So 49mpg, and i think thats the ICE alone, it makes no sense for that to be combined with the electric motor because out of those 770KM i have guaranteed driven 700km on electric alone (because i mostly drive places thats within the 27km range of the electric mode).
And with a full tank and full charge youll get 501KM, so 311 miles. Where 27km is pure electric range.
if battery hybrid problem. can drive without battery? or can use petrol without battery?
So if you leave work with a full charge is it okay to use save mode at least while on the highway than switch to ev mode on the streets?
Yes thats correct
Awesome don’t have one yet but will in February or March thanks brother
@@GustavoM90 I've had mine a week, do your research man. I'm only getting 17-21e-miles on a single charge. Don't get me wrong, car handles great and the drive modes are fun. The mpg's are defetnetly not what BMW says. Good luck, stay safe😷🤙
crzmex21 thanks for the info will do stay safe too
@@crzmex21 I can completely agree with that. I think I get 34mpg combined lol
Disappointing car for me. I will never buy the 330e nor any BMW ever again
Why is that? How many miles on the clock?
So the 330e won't go above 50mph in electric only mode without the petrol engine kicking in?
It will in Max E Drive mate
also...Can we charge these at Tesla charging stations? ...are they all the same. I'm a total newb to this stuff lol
no, you can not. You can not charge this actually with any fast charger. You can charge it using a home wall box or a normal public charger for a faster charge than the ”granny” 3 plug socket
